We used to have passenger rail. My father rode the train here - decades ago - when it existed. I even rode the passenger rail when it existed to go from here to Florida. It was great.
My sentiments exactly. I have family in South Carolina, and with that rail line I could go from Nashville to Chattanooga to Atlanta to Columbia. Depending on the speed of the train, it might be a shorter trip than my usual seven-hour trek over the Blue Ridge Parkway.
This is a good start, and I'm hoping that the plan expands to include more locations. Tennessee is a long state with a lot of history, and being able to see that easier with an extensive passenger rail system would be fantastic.

If I could take a train to see my family in Atlanta that would be amazing

Passenger rail would be a major boon for the state.
