Karen Ramirez you are so far the Best music teacher there is. Music has never been this easy. I'm sure your Bisquick method will make you very popular. I love your lessons. Easy and straight to the point. Thumbs up Karen all the way from Kenya Africa.
Your 10 minute piano lessons are just fantastic! Thank you for your generosity in teaching piano your way. Easy to understand and very practical. Wishing you and your family good health and more success Stay safe!
Great teacher. Always looking out for the new videos from you. Your teachings about the circle of fifths gave me a great foundation on which i stand today
I just came across your videos today. I learned a few things today that's helping me put a few chords together. I was never good at chords lol. (The guys in the band or the studio would always take care of that part.) Anyhow, I'm starting to write again. It's been years since I wrote or perform. Just want to say thank you and look forward in checking out more vid and of course learning. Ps I haven't had the feeling of writing in over 15 years and now working on 9 songs. Cheers and peace to the world.
I don’t intend to play piano, but as an adult learner you are my go to theory teacher, especially on circle of fifths, etc. I play brass, but transcribe to interpret rhythm better. You helped me with key identification, chords, etc. but I now also play melodica to help me with transcribing, but also to keep playing music when my lips become weak and can therefore benefit even more. Thank you!
Mrs Karen you are an amazing teacher. You have taught me music so excellently such that things i thought were so complicated, have become so easy to understand. Thank you so much my beloved teacher
I just found your channel, and I'm really sure I'll be watching every single one of them, you are an awesome teacher, thank you so much, I'm so glad that I found your videos!!!!
In high school and college, it was extremely important to me to not make any mistakes, sight-reading or not. When I would make a mistake, I'd beat myself up mentally and emotionally until I was so rigid and brittle in my approach to music that it didn't feel free and fun like it's supposed to be. After college, I gave lessons and just let myself relax and and enjoy life for a few years. In graduate school I just didn't care anymore if I made a mistake, and that's when it became fun again. I was sight-reading and playing better than ever. You gotta let it go.
I have watched your videos from years past only to see this one and had no idea that you were in Sac! I am in Shingle Springs! Just east of you. Enjoy the rain tonight.
Hi Karen, you are an amazing and awesome teacher and I'm so glad to have found you again after many years. I know you have DVDs and I would love to have some of them in my learning but these days many people like me do not have DVDs so have you considered distributing these DVDs in a different medium.
Hi Karen, I do hope you can help me.... you mentioned "C always follows G", and it reminded me that in one of your earlier videos you had a little table that listed the notes that usually followed each of the notes in the scale. Yes, I know it's going back a bit, but do you think you could list it again? It was so helpful at the time and now I cannot find it anywhere. My thanks in anticipation, JK
Hey my friend , I play bass guitar and I am loving you're you tube channel 🙂💙I have been following your channel for years now, and I am asking this because of your knowledge and skills 😀 😊 if I play bass at my church, they sing old church hymnal songs, will playing the 1 4 5 progression accordingly in the song? Or a groove accordingly in the song, will that work
Hey Karen when you do the Root +4+3 for a major chord. If that chord is a # or b. Do you still count say G +4 or would you count from the black keys +4 +3 ? to get a G#/Gb ? And I'm assuming the answer would work for m , dim , aug and 7th chords. ? Thank you and I hope you are well.
Why don t you during your playing show with green or purple keys so people knows or can tell of what yours instruction is. I like the Happy Birth Day To You, But can not get it.
What exactly don't you understand in playing the "Happy Birthday" song? Can you understand that is written in a 3/4 rhythm? That is the rhythm of a waltz like "The Blue Danube" and that means that it goes like "Ta-ta-ta", "Ta-ta-ta".... So, set the metronome on your keyboard in a 3/4 rhythm. Choose a slow tempo(bpm) at first, for learning the song. A slow tempo of 70 beats per seconds(bpm) should be fine, I guess. Press play and listen to the metronome. it goes 1-2-3,1-2-3. Say along with it: 1-2-3,1-2-3 (don't play at all with your hands). Now say 1-2 and instead of 3, sing the word "Happy". So it goes: 1-2-happy,1-2-happy,1-2-happy... When you feel comfortable, instead of 1-2-happy,sing the rest of the song. Do it several times. Always listen to the metronome. It is crucial to understand the rhythm of the song. Now stop the metronome and in each syllable of the song press a note just with your right hand. The first musical phrase goes like this: 1-2-GG-|A-G-C|- B-pause-GG-|A-G-D-|C-pause-GG| etc. (With the metronome, that is: 1 (pause)-2(pause)-3(GG)-|1(A)-2(G)-3(C)| etc and the very last note of the song will end up on 1). Do that, and if you learn to play the melody with your right hand, then you can add the left hand chord playing. You can find the notes on many videos on UA-cam. You can even set the speed of a video to 50% to watch the exact notes they are playing. Everything should be played on time(on rhythm) to make sense. It is really important. More important than a correct note or a correct chord, in which you can do a mistake. You better watch some older videos of Mrs Karen's, where she explains how music works. I always find something really, really useful to learn by watching her videos.
