    Hey Craig, this is another piece of gear I’ve learned from you! What I appreciate, is you taking the time to demonstrate on how to use it. Outstanding as always! Thanks for teaching this old dog another new trick .

    Of course, the billy pot is actually the Zebra billy pot, made in Thailand. Firebox simply change over the original plastic clips, which work OK over a butane stove, to metal clips better suited for a campfire. Plus Firebox make the cool carry bag. I have the original Zebra 16 cm and 12 cm pots. I made my own metal clips for the 16 cm one. Plenty of clips on UA-cam showing how. I love the billys so much that I bought a second 12 cm for my hiking kit. Thanks for your video. Made me hungry for a muffin!

      Yes, indeed. The carry bag is nice. Mine is strictly used for canoe camping, using a pulk, or day hikes. Much too heavy to backpack with in my opinion. Thank you for stopping by man !

    Thats a great setup. The top pan is just a double boiler cook set up, like the old Nanson cook kits for the polar regions. You can reconstitute your dried food without burning it. Snap on the lid and let it sit, the hot water below guarantees your food will be rehydrated completely and remain hot. Nice bake job. On long canoe trips I always bake. Thanks for this video.

      Yes sir ! I like to bake items on canoe trips, it’s very laid back and relaxing ! This set up will be great . I might still drill holes in the upper pan for steaming veggies. Thanks stopping by and commenting, greatly appreciated !

    That is a nice looking and versatile billy pot. I don't have one ....yet. I have so many cook pots. That blueberry muffin looked delicious on a cold day. It is always a struggle baking on the trail trying to find the right balance of oiling the pots to keeping the correct temperature but it usually works out that you get a decent muffin or part of one in the end. I have baked muffins many times on the trail using an alcohol stove......Take care, Bluefin.

      Thanks Bluefin ! Yes I have had good luck in the past using an alcohol stove baking. Your correct,it’s easier to control the heat. Cheers and thanks !

      Blah Ha ! Good times man ! Yes, it’s so primal, building a small fire is all it takes sometimes to get “ grounded “ This was in an area that I have wanted to check out for years. Very nice area. Hopefully you’ll be able to get out and get grounded soon brother ! Thanks for stopping by man !

    I went in the woods today and tried this today, in a tarp shelter. It didn’t turnout as well as yours, but, it still tasted good.

      Fantastic ! Cool ! It’s very difficult to do this with wind, and sustaining a steady heat .but fun to do ! Thanks man !

    Instead of drilling holes in it for a steamer, get a pot graber and use it as a frying pan

    Cool Piece Of Kit Brother, Muffin Looked Good From Where Im Sitting. Always Been Meaning to ask You This.,, The Mora Hatchet , Awhile back you did a review on it i believe, i went thru your vids and cant find it, was wandering if ya liked it?

    • @MeetMeOutside
      @MeetMeOutside  3 роки тому

      Thanks my friend. I appreciate you watching. I still have the Mora hatchet. Elite it but in all honesty it doesn’t have a lot of weight to it so it’s not to effective for chopping. It’s great for trimming branches. I find I use the hatchet that I used in this video,or my axe,more often, they just have a bit more heft, which helps when chopping or splitting. Thanks for stopping by man, always appreciated !

      Yes ! Or maybe not so much heat on the bottom . It’s difficult with a fire and the wind, to regulate the heat ! 🤘
