FIGHTING POVERTY in SOUTH AFRICA

The ruling party in South Africa, the African National Congress, announced on 23 May that it would put in place a basic income if reelected on 29 May. With a third of the population unemployed, poverty has dramatically increased in the past five years, and millions are dependent on grants. I met with South African beneficiaries and experts campaigning for the introduction of a basic income.
