The Lakers beat the Clippers by just two points in both of the first games and by 4 in the last game. The Lakers have been fortunate that the Clippers haven’t had their full squad playing against them. First game harden didn’t play and PG got fouled out. The second game no Zu and AD d was incredible that game and the final game no PG and Zu. So you can say it’s luck but the Clippers were missing their starters and that played a big role in why they lost those games. The lakers were missing key players as well but they were bench players. All their starters played in all the games expected Lebron. He missed the 3 game the Clippers won.

He is consistently and fairly skeptical of Lebron James and has been consistent with that. I think that’s the hottest shooting I’ve seen LeBron since 2009 against Milwaukee when he scored 55. Hotter shooting than even a lot of Kobe’s games. I thought Kobe’s hottest hand was when he scored 42 in the first half against Jordan in 2003. I’m aware Ty Lue was guarding Kobe but Kobe was making every shot.
LeBron shot it better than his 45 in Boston, 51 in the Finals, and any of his 2016 Finals games. The Lakers finally won a season series against us since the 2011-2012 season when they beat us twice out of three times since that was a lockout year of only 66 games. That was the year Blake Griffin dunked over Pau Gasol’s head twice.
My Clippers are still the Clippers. Yeah, we didn’t have George and Zubac was a late scratch, but the Clippers really haven’t been good the last few weeks with them and we were up 21 at one point. Skill means nothing without any brains behind it. All I saw was Harden not using his brain and kept throwing the ball away. Turned it over 4x. All that skill but he’ll play like a dumbass.
I’ll keep saying it but my Clippers are PRETENDERS. They peaked in that win in Boston but the Lakers cheapened our win when they also won in Boston without LeBron and AD. We’re too small. Is Ty Lue obsessed with small ball because he’s short himself? Is Lawrence Frank the same way because he’s small enough to be a jockey at Santa Anita. He did nothing before the trade deadline and Clippers will tire faster against bigger teams.
Genius 4Q lineup, Ty Lue. LeBron starting an onslaught and Ty uses 6’3 Russ, 6’4 Powell, 6’5 Harden, 6’5 Tucker, and 6’11 Plumlee. The first four are all players LeBron will easily shoot right over. Two of them can’t shoot. Two of them are turnover prone. Four of them can’t guard LeBron or Hachimura because they’re 6’5 or shorter.
Expect more playoff COLLAPSES like this in two months. No Doc Rivers or not wanting to be in a bubble excuses. No Jack Harlow to snitch on you. The Clippers are running out of excuses to use after another epic choke job like Kyle Shanahan’s 49ers. PG, Harden, and Russ are forever playoff losers and will never win a ring.
The only two players I trust in the playoffs on the Clippers are Kawhi and Norman. They have rings. But against the Lakers, they will struggle getting open looks. He’s not as physically dominant as Shaq and doesn’t have an unblockable shot like Kareem, so great handles and a killer jumpshot is paramount. Otherwise you have to depend on team momentum and other players that are knock-down shooters.

In terms of pure hot shooting, it’s in the top 3. I think his 55 in Milwaukee back in 2009 was crazier. It’s on UA-cam. He was hitting shots from 30+ feet away and this was before Steph entered the league. We see Anderson Varejao going nuts from the sidelines.
I’ve seen many Michael Jordan games but I’ve seen even more Kobe games being I live in LA/OC. I’ve never seen Jordan shoot that hot from the outside except maybe his 1992 Shrug Game. MJ was usually efficient and you don’t really notice if he gets hot. When he hit a record 13 straight FGs in Game 2 of the 1991 Finals, he wasn’t shooting it from the outside. Lots of layups and dunks including his famous switch between hands layup.
As for Kobe, I’ve seen him get hot but not that hot. Kobe was more of a VOLUME scorer and streaky shooter. Yes, he hit 12 threes without a miss. But his 81, he only went 7 for 13 from deep. He had tons of FTs at the end. I saw his 62 after 3Q, and he never passed the ball. I saw his 65 against Portland but it wasn’t coming from super hot shooting from anywhere. He just attempted a lot of shots like his 50 attempts in his final game.
If we rank this in terms of significance, then this game against the Clippers who were without Paul George and Ivica Zubac would not make LeBron’s top 10. His 2012 ECF Game 6 remains his best game of his career knowing it was on the road and were facing elimination. Celtics have never been the same since. They would finally lose a Game 7 home game to LeBron in 2018.
I kinda felt Ty Lue being friends with LeBron almost gift-wrapped this game to LeBron. I think Ty doesn’t care if he gets fired. He still collects the money since it’s in his contract to still get paid. How ridiculous of a lineup of Russ, Powell, Harden, Tucker, and Plumlee! Russ and Harden together is bad enough already.
The moment LeBron cut it to 11, Lue needed to put Kawhi back in and let him guard LeBron. But I kept watching LeBron hit shots over little Norman Powell. We got skilled but STUPID basketball players. Skill means nothing without a smart brain powering that body.
I want Clippers to feel the hurt. Keep that stabbing feeling in our hearts. No pain, no gain. We’re really not that good once we lost to New Orleans, Minnesota, OKC, and Sacramento. Must do something about it. Clippers looking like pretenders all along that peaked too early or maybe we were never that good to begin with?
All the other Western Conference playoff teams are getting on a good run except us. We’ve now lost 5 of our last 8. Lakers have won 9 of their last 12. We could end up in the play-in if we keep to this losing pace. I estimate we lose at least 10 more times which puts us at 52-30, maybe good enough for 4th.
