    Also consider the post in your patio. You could use the ZeboZAP that mounts concrete pillars or metal post. Does not require drilling .

    Woildnt worry about it slipping out. But tapcons are meant to hold items tight against a flat surface. Biggest problem with tapcons is that since they are made of hardened steel they have zero flex and will snap. Id worry about the heads snapping off

    How should we proceed with stucco on wood frames? Expansion anchors or drilling/screwing into a stud?

  • @notsure7874
    @notsure7874 3 роки тому +1

    You have to use fasteners that go through the stucco and into the block far enough.

    Don’t forget to use gorilla glue first and then after a week do a weight test and if that doesn’t work use silicone water based caulk to really keep the grip in check 😉

      fixed or tilt flat mounts are usually the most secure because they are close to the wall but a safe installation matters more than the tv mount brand.

    Good video; but the forces are mostly parallel to the wall when you hang next to it, which means most of your force is towards the ground and not parallel to the screw. Screws come out when the forces are parallel to the screw. Same concept with a nail - you don't remove a nail by pounding the side of it.. A better test would be to hang off the extended mounting fixture before mounting the tv - but that's overkill and might rip the mount off the wall.. More torque on the screws is produced as you move weight away from the wall. You said the tv is around 40/50 lbs, so extend the tv and hang an additional 10-20 lbs of weight on the end. No one should be pulling too hard on a tv once it's mounted, except to move it around, and if you need 20 lbs of pressure to do that, then something is wrong.

      He's right. This is called the shear strength.

    • @KL4life
      @KL4life Рік тому

      Gravity doesn't fall parallel it falls to floor. Unless someone purposely knocks it horizontally which is almost impossible to miss that without clearing it; unless that person is just innately accident prone and uncoordinated it's fine.

    • @billgates6795
      @billgates6795 Рік тому

      @@KL4life that's a mumble jumble response. Nowhere did I say "gravity" falls parallel to the wall. Go to a junior college and take a physics class, then we'll argue about gravity and force vectors (a vector had magnitude and direction). You can pull the screws out if you are hanging off the end of an "extended" mounting fixture depending on the the length it's extended and the weight being put on it. The further out you apply the downward force (your weight plus gravity), the more likely you are to pull the screw and the insert out of the wall. You can't just willy nilly hang any size tv off the end of a mounting fixture. So the point here is that hanging off the fixture without it being extended does NOT provide ANY measure of how much weight the mounting fixture will hold when it's fully extended. You won't catch me hanging off the fixture if it's attached to drywall. Don't do that.
      Here's another concern - assume the mounting fixture holds up; to the weight of the tv when it's fully extended. How much margin do you have when you grab the tv and start to move it? Is the action you provide in moving it enough to pull screws out of the wall. When you grab the tv you are applying force to move it. Part of that force can be downward or upward in addition to sideways; so if your fixture is already at the weight limit, you're going to pull the fixture out of the wall.

      Toggle bolts work great in block walls and some brick walls too. I have seen way to many tapcon screws come out and I don't like them. Lead anchors are better than tapcons . I have hung a many of light fixture and used the tapcon in concert and block and brick it really didn't impress me. I rather have toggle bolts or lead anchors. Plastic anchors are not that great either.

      Toggles are good when hitting the open part of the block cell so they can open and grab.
      Nothing beats a tapcon when it hits a concrete block that has the cells poured solid with concrete.
