Yeah I hear that. I tried to launch before it got too hot.
I’m also a professional tv installer. This guy really knows his stuff. Only things I’d do different is use a smaller drill to check for the stud so in case I miss, it’s not a big hole, and I also use Toggler brand toggle anchors.
And a better quality mount

Yup! The 3/16 inch Toggler anchor is the best imo I used for dry wall tv mounting

clean! love the video too and how it wasnt too long wasnt too short and showed each process. I'm a firm believer that if one cant hang the TV and conceal the wires then dont even hang the tv. So many regular people join the trend of hanging TVs and have wires and cables dangling, then whats the point. Might as well just get a nice stand. Keep up the good work.

I'm a beginner when it comes to electrical and I think this was great video. I was mainly interested in how to deal with stucco. However we do have the blown- in installation, so fishing that line through might be a bit interesting. But I was amazed at how easy this looks like it is to do! Now to review my plethora of "prior to drywall pictures" to see what else is in that wall and get better idea of where the studs are.
it's either going to have fireblocks or not. if not, the fish tape will get through. it's not too hard once you have some practice

You can just throw a cover over any TV. Better than those super expensive sunbright tvs that aren't very good anyways.

@@BTheInstaller the concern for us in the northeast is temperature. We are installing in a gazebo and we don't plan on taking down and storing in the winter.
@@danielbalboni6804 I have mine under a gazebo like structure and it has sat out all winter (zone 6 in growers terms so we get nasty winters) with just a fairly thick cover over it and unplugged. It is Hisense 4k so nothing too fancy. My plan is to uncover it and wait a few days incase moisture got into it, to let it dry out fully and see if it survived. This winter was not a great test as it only snowed perhaps 4 or 5 times and the snow on the ground did not last more than a few days. Wish me luck.

Great video, I just installed a 50" LG in my outdoor living area and used a similar articulating mount. My outdoor living space is a 12' by 24' covered area and I used a non-outdoor rated mount, have you ever seen any issue with indoor mounts used outdoors (this will never be hit by any rain)? I live in central California so we get some pretty hot weather in the summer and pretty good fog in the winter. Thanks!

How do you mitigate glare from the sunlight
This must be an older build it seems with new homes especially 2 story I’m not finding the thin stucco with empty wall cavity. In warmer parts of SoCal all the new homes look to have like an inch of stucco followed by OSB

B the Installer...I have a question that I haven't seen addressed on any video, anywhere. I need to mount a 65" tv outside under my covered pergola. That's the easy part. The wall that it's going on is a 3" foam insulated panel that has aluminum on the front and back. Its very sturdy on the roof, so much that a 160 -180 lb person can walk on it. Very common in pergolas for roofs, I was just lead to believe it could hold a tv. I'm not willing to chance it. What do you recommend? Possibly a large steel panel on front and back with the tv mount fastened to it? I figure this would displace the stress that would normally be on the wall. Your thoughts?
Do you have to caulk/seal the holes in the stucco?

when he missed the stud he left the random hole open in the wall ... bugs or critters cant get up in there... LOL.. seal that bad boy up...
Seal the holes with insulation foam filler spray $15 at HD on the hole and around your outlet before putting the plate on. Keeps water and bugs out.

You should do a video on how to mount a tv on fiber cement siding. I've been looking around an there's no content anywhere to be found. Is there anything different?
The key is just to use a long structural o lag screw try to attach to studs if its not possible use anchor's screw... tv are light weight nowdays... someting yiu may need spacers to fill it
I'd love to know what kind/brand of TV you would recommend for outside in a partially to mostly shaded area. I live in Iowa so would assume you would recommend taking the TV down and storing inside during the winter? Any cover you would recommend?

I’m also a professional tv installer. I’m not a fan of that pipishell mount or any cheap ass mounts. If you’re looking for a budget option from Amazon that’s premium quality, go with USX. And they often go on sale for around $31.

Intresting how you can put a 20 amp box on a 15 amp surcut.
I was thinking the same thing. That should have been 14 gauge wire not 12. Thankfully, it's not 14 gauge where 12 should be. The 12 gauge wire on a 15 amp circuit really won't hurt anything because the breaker would trip if there was an overload however, if it was the opposite, (Which it isn't in this case), a 14 gauge wire on a 20 amp circuit could cause the wire to get hot and catch fire before that 20 amp breaker would trip in some situations.
It's been a while but I'm pretty sure it was a 20amp. Normally outdoors and garages in CA are 20 Amp and 12 gauge. ... however, there is no downside there. And if it were 20amp I would not use 14

So in essence only one stud. Do you need that ground nut, or can you just twist grounds together connecting the lin8ger wire to ground on outlet.

Yes. Common sense if its not one of their Terrace Tvs. Check Amazon for some Storm Shell covers. They're not cheap, and the largest they make is designed for a 65" but new tvs are so thin on the bezel, that it may fit yours. Not sure how well they work, but the theory is sound.

Its not vinyl actually, I meant just waterproof cover. Just type tv cover and the size on amazon.
Don't you think weather would be an issue there? I am planning same install, but worried about weather being an issue.
If your TV will be exposed to the weather, you should consider using an outdoor TV, outdoor mount, and an outdoor soundbar. You want the TV to bright enough to actually be viewable during the day, weatherproof, and have a warranty.
Would it be bad to use a in wall cable conceal on a job like this
what cable? i run cords to outside as needed. you can fill with expanding foam if concerned about animals or bugs

Something I'm confused about is what I need to do to protect the tv from environmental conditions. What I found interesting is you used a waterproof outlet cover but you didn't do anything to waterproof the tv. Can you explain?

The tv was under a covered patio. But what I normally tell people and thus guy as well, is to buy a cheap $30 cover on Amazon.

Not with a cover. The mount may get rusty over time in places with more rain or if its somewhat exposed.

Not to mention the first drilled hole where he missed the stud that is just covered with the mount plate. I'd fill the hole with some silicone at least. Maybe the screw holes too.

I've gone through 3 samsung TVs in Miami in one year. Humidity and temperature are very important.
No need for that hammer drill lol stucco is very soft and a normal concrete bit with a normal drill with the right bit will work just fine, also why are you using toggle anchors if you found the stud..?? Just pre drill and use some lag bolts

Using a regular tv outside is not recommended for a reason. Don’t listen to this guy if you want your tv to last for several years. A cover doesn’t protect from temperature variation & humidity/condensation.
With hot weather, regular tv’s don’t have adequate heat sinks/cooling. With cold weather/condensation, regular tv’s aren’t sealed properly and they don’t have proper insulation.
Dude, 99% of outdoor TV usage is with indoor tvs.

@@BTheInstaller There’s a couple issues with your statement. You’re relying on your own experiences with your own clients. That is known as being subjective or using anecdotal evidence. I’ve seen internal data from samsung on their return reason and rates, that of which included hundreds of thousands of tv’s. I have also worked with several insurance companies, including all state, asurion, the geek squad, squaretrade, etc, and all have stated that outdoor use of indoor tv’s is one of the most common insurance claims for tv’s. Using indoor tv’s for outdoor use are also not covered under the extended warranties/insurance policies, as well as the standard manufacturer warranties.
Sounds similar to "if you want your tv to last several years" very scientific. Your warning to consumers will remain here bro. 🤘

B The Installer sounds good. I have it similar and under Lenai and still get reflection off the pool. I bought a 55 inch Samsung from Costco. Maybe I need a brighter tv
The Samsung Terrace was on sale. It's still crazy expensive but as good as it gets for outdoor tvs
