  • Stage 7 highlights from the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift 2023. The queen stage of this year's race. At 90km, it's short, but contains two legendary climbs. The Col d'Aspin (12km at 6.5%) comes first before the big one - the Col du Tourmalet (17km at 7.3%) - a summit finish to decide the stage and possibly the race.

    It's great to see the women's course go up the same iconic climbs that the men have known for so many decades. I'm old enough to remember a time when such a thing was considered too tough for women.

    Fascinating to see this mountain stage top ten. This is like the world championships for climbers. When it was all on the line it came down to this.
    Monster performance by Demi the undisputed queen. Amazing and brave ride from the legend Kasia. Hearty as always efforts by the goat Annemiek and Ashley Moolman and the consistency of Labous is impressive. Elite. Outstanding climb by Kopecky would signal to me that she quite likely will be switching teams in the near future. She has proved that she is a GC rider in her own right.
    Santesteban will be over the moon and FDJ pair Uttrup Ludwig and Cavalli should be happy with their climbs And Ricarda Bauernfeind is the young star of the tour. A contender in the future for sure.
    Interesting to note who wasn't there. Where were the Lidl Trek girls ? I expected Lizzy Deignan followed by Gaia Realini, to launch Elisa Longo Borghini. And I thought Silvia Persico, Mavi Garcia and Lianne Lippert would be there too.

    Weird tactical games by Vollering and van Vleuten. By refusing to work together, they gifted Niewiadoma around a minute twice as if she wasn't in the race. I would have liked to see Kasia taking the stage win!

    • @fernandoroman6494
      @fernandoroman6494 11 місяців тому +19

      It was understandable: From Vollering's perspective: 2 teammates in the chase, one of them with the yellow jersey. She is more punchy than AVV and AVV prefers the super long attacks. So from her point it was better to sit and wait for the chase to get back and help her most of the way up the final climb. From AVV's perpective: If she works on the valley road and brings Demi on her wheel, she'll start the final climb on a disadvantage. I also would have love to see Kasia taking the stage but Demi put over 2 minutes into her in the last 5km

    Devastating performance by Demi Vollering. The new and undisputed queen. What a season she has had. Dominant is an understatement. Destroying. This season has put her on GOAT mountain. Will she add world champion to her palmares ?
    What a way to put the DS drama to bed. Anna Van der breggen is all they need anyway. She's a tactical master. Especially when it comes to mountain climbing. She knows what's required to beat the GOAT.
    It would seem a formality that Demi take this Tour de France. She's a great time trialist. But Annemiek is a two time world time trial champion and current olympic champion. Could she possibly pull that sizeable lead back ? History has shown. Never ever write Annemiek Van Vleuten off. She has the heart of a champion. And as she has done throughout her illustrious career. She will come out fighting.
