    Cheers UA-cam, and thanks for watching! Here we are making a Brewer's Best Spice Apple Cider kit, and these things really couldn't be easier or more delicious. You've got the kit, two pounds of corn sugar, and that's everything you need to get fermenting! Blend together, and let it rip. In this video, I'm also using the Catalyst Fermentation System for the first time, so you will have to let me know what you think of it!
    If you'd like to pick up anything you see in this video, check out my homebrew shop BIY Homebrew Supply at www.BIYHomebrew... and we'll get you all set up.
    Cheers--and thank you for your support!

    I went to my LHBS and picked up this spiced cider kit because of your video and because it is almost pumpkin everything time. And I'm not a fan of pumpkin beer, so a spiced cider would be great when I starts getting chilly outside. Took me 10mins total and my wife even helped a little. Bonus.

    Just started watching these, very informative. If I wanted carbonated cider, would carbo-drops be ok to use with this, or must it be still? Thank you kindly.

    Hey Joe - greeting from Canada. Thanks for this video - I decided to give that same kit a try for my wife who doesn’t like beer. It has now been 5 weeks and it still has a strong sulphur smell/taste. I fermented at about 20c and aerated well. Has this ever happened to you? I’m thinking it’s going to take a few months to dissipate :( and I need my keg for beer.

    I am using vodka in my airlocks, so if anything gets sucked down, the damage is not that bad.

      It isnt anyway since the alcohol allready in the beew is enough to impede the growth of other microorganisms other than bret basically but there would be so little bret in the airlock anyway that it would have a very hard time establishing. If you are really paranoid a waterless airlock is probably a safer bet.

    You got to let me know how the Blueberry Cider turns out. It sounds really good.
    Q: have you ever tried one of the cider kits with Belgian Candi sugar in place of one pound of the dextrose?

    I would like to know how someone else tell me how they would like to try something different. Have you ever thought about mixing two mixes to make one batch of beer. The ones I would like for you to try #1: Spiced Apple Cider and #2: Peach/Mango. I hope that you can do this for me!

    Joe! Quick question for you! I have a small batch of ipa i need to move to secondary for dry-hopping...need to find blow off tubing. What do you reccommend from lowes or home depot? Vinyl or pvc? What would be food grade safe for a blow off tube. Thanks!

    That flavoring kit is probably just apple juice concentrate.

    How did you do the wine on this Fermenter

    • @terpsichoreankid
      @terpsichoreankid  3 роки тому

      You can cut the total finished amount down to 5 gallons, so would only really work with the smaller juice kits. Or if you're using fresh fruit, just tie the recipe in at 5g.

    Hey Joe, love your channel btw, do you always just use warm water for makeing these types of kits? I see the directions for brewers best cider select, both the mangroove jacks cider and craft brew beer series say to boil like 2 gallons of water for the dextrose. I've done 4 of these types of kits and it always took a long time to get to a pitchable temp. You think there is a reason they say to boil? If you have had good luck with all of your kits i'm gonna have to try it your way. Thanks and Cheers 17.

  • @jdmlong

    Is there really another type of gallon? Can you do priming sugar with a cider? I thought I read somewhere that made the bottles blow up.

    • @rimmersbryggeri
      @rimmersbryggeri 7 років тому

      There is the US gallon and the imperial gallon the US gallon is the "other type". You can prime ciders like any other fermented liquid.
