Hello Friends! It's been a while coming, but here it is, and you probably knew it was coming... My official review of Spike Brewing's 14 gallon stainless steel conical fermenter. This sucker is a monster at 14 gallons, all tri-clamp connections, fully stainless steel, 2" dump port, taster port, drain port, thermowell port, blowoff port, plus a 4" cap that can be replaced with an immersion coil or left as a hatch for dry hopping or the like. Plus you can pressurize it! This is an incredible conical, and I think is at a great price point for those that are looking into higher-tier brewing equipment like this. Ben from Spike was of course awesome, and we were able to actually work through some kink I came across when testing this unit. Very good to know that a company like theirs listens to their customer base and really wants to make a knock-it-out-of-the-ballpark product. I think they've done just that here with this conical, it is incredible. I hope my review and kegging some beer from the conical are informative! If you haven't already, please do subscribe to the channel and consider support my videos through Patreon. That being said, cheers and thank you for watching!
Love the dolly zoom at the start! Awesome video as always, Joe!
Great review Joe. Spike are very lucky to have you. Keep up the good work.
Cheers from down under
Once I saw that they had finally released it I've been saving what I can to get one. Not there yet but soon. I really like the fact that its completely sanitary welded, has a tri-clover clamp design with no threaded or weldless fittings like their competition, , , And that they will be soon releasing a temperature control set up for it. Great video and review. Cheers !
Awesome bit of kit you have Joe.
A kegging vid would really be much appreciated especially for those people like myself who are thinking of getting into it and don't really have a clue about it.
Thanks and 17!
I wish Spike Brewing shipped to the UK. I love the look of their kit, cheers for the vid. I hope you are well Joe
bought one of these this year and I totally agree with your review. Fantastic conical!
Thanks Joe, good stuff...can't wait for the keg going video
Thanks! Ryan at Spike Brewing is shipping me one this week. I can't wait!
Nice review Joe, cheers!
Where are you Joe it has been months hope all is well and shops are doing well. Best wishes from Australia.
Just ordered the CF15... HYPE!
Very nice! Cheers, Joe!
Another awesome video my friend!
Very nice setup!
Joe Can you show us how you are temp controlling this with the immersion chiller? You mentioned you are recirculating water from your refrigerator with a pump.
Does it hold pressure over the time. Can it be used for pressure fermentation? There is a report that it does not hold pressure and leaking? What is your experience? Thanks for the video!
Hey Joe, few questions for ya..Do you temperature control your fermentation in that conical? And Is it ok to force carbonate it the last few days of fermentation to speed up the process :)?
Did you ever try a really good sweet wine joe? One that has both sweetness and sugar like a sauternes or such? I recommend it. If oyu can get a Moulin Touchais try that. It's a bit pricy but worth it.
You forgot to add that it is pressure rated for 15 psi. So you can use it as a unitank and carbonate from it.
Or pressure fill kegs!
Where have you gone Joe?
I'm back!
I wish these had a more elegant way of controlling fermentation temperature
Awesome video Joe. Wish I could 1:) afford it and 2:) had space but also, I need a keezer to control temps and have no way to keep that cool. Jealous!
Beer-lord if you have or can find a used standard size fridge....get a johnson temp controller and it makes an awesome fermentation chamber. With all the shelves removed it might fit a conical. Biggest plus is it's front opening so you don't have to lift a fermenter more than a few inches off the ground to move it
Mine just came the other day, do you have any advice on dry hopping in it?
Man I miss Joe!
I'm back!
@@terpsichoreankid what's great news!
I love mine.
Isn't Ale 8 kinda hard to get up in your neck of the woods?? :)
Wow, can you get this in Europe?
Joe is that vessel made from 304 stainless steel? HoppyBob
building a nice dadbod there aint ya!
Just missing the twilight zone theme at the beginning haha
These conicals are gorgeous but to fit that into my chest freezer fermentation chamber is doubtful. It just doesn't seem practical.
I really need to 'catch a gig' where companies send me the free stuff and I get to talk about it for 28mins13secs....and I ain't talkin' about the blue pill ;)
since you are in Iowa have you ever been to toppling goliath?
Why don't tjey just use something like a v band clamp and be rid of the gasket alltogether.
