This is so inspiring! It is really insightful to hear your "behind the scenes" thoughts and concerns about these amazing characters that you play. And quite obviously you guys are some of the best in the game right now when it comes to this. I dont know if I would ever try to create a RP character of my own, but this inspires me in in so many other ways, e.g. as writing a text from another persons point of view for a song or even paintings and trying to draw a person, after listening to you guys talk about this I'll think of them more in depth, more in detail, like e.g. why do they have a patched vest on, or why do they wear red in the picture, etc. Thanks! I can appreciate the Mills Character. His relationship with Alice. But WALLABY was such an immersive deep character that alone created so many story lines. And now it’s 2024/2025 and Verts is going strong with the Butch Egan character. I know this is an older interview….but Mills and Alice split to “Canada” and it’d be nice for Mills and Alice to return to the Crossing.
how do you go about brainstorming your first character if youve never roleplayed before? and what type of character should you go with first? civ? crim? some kind of specialized job?
You're overthinking it, boyo. Imagine that you are a character in a movie, then play pretend. As far as for a first time without knowing what you want to do....play a cowboy drifter who recently got to the territory and is looking for work. Then, you can let whatever opportunities pop up inform what you decide to do with your time - become a deputy, an outlaw, a saloon card dealer, a conman, a cowboy, a shopkeeper, etc. But let the story come to you, don't think you have to know the story beforehand.
