Suno bhai. North Indian states ki bhi alag alag languages hai. Bihar-Bhojpuri, Gujrat-Gujrati, Haryana- Haryanavi, Punjab- Punjabi, Rajasthan- Rajasthani, Maharashtra- Marathi. Jab 2-3 saal tk rahenge tab aapki bhasha Sikh lenge, lekin 1 ya 2 din me aapki bhasha sikhna possible nhi
      Hope AAP samjhe

This is not only a Karnataka issue or a Tamil Nadu issue, language issue has been there in my own state Maharashtra for several decades now, it’s just that because we have mass immigration in the big cities like Mumbai, Pune etc and Hindi being a compulsory language taught in schools almost every local today at least knows how to speak broken Hindi and can understand it completely. Marathi Bhasha jagva, Marathi bhasha vachva has been a slogan for years as our major cities became culturally diverse way before Bengaluru. Therefore we also have the same stand when it comes to language that if you are coming in Maharashtra and are going to stay and work here for a significant amount of time, then be considerate enough to learn the language because it’s one way to give respect to the place which is your karmabhumi🙏🏻

You know what's the problem? North Indians think they're superior.
I'm a hyderabadi and we warmly welcome all cultures here. Many people can talk in Hindi even though our majorly spoke language is telugu.
Of late, most of the northies come here and mock the locals who cannot speak proper hindi.

Literally forced bcoz only if i learn the language i will get resident permit! This makes sure the country is independent with its culture... Their attitude and words resemble their thoughts. They need to change that mentality. The person who comes to the north from the south for work tries to learn Hindi and try to speak so. They expect the same back. Simple as that. By the way, I'm from Kerala. Kerala often welcomes everyone with a huge heart. There are lakhs and lakhs of migrant workers in Kerala. But we have to speak to them in Hindi. Hence most of the keratitis learned Hindi now to communicate with them. You can't expect the same mentality from every state. But when people from North India don't put any effort in learning the local language and say that you should rather speak hindi (because it's our national language. Even though it's not. @shivamgusain5185 Hey brother, no offence, but if I go to any other state, let's say maharashtra, I will put my effort to learn marathi. That will encourage the local people there to help me learn more.
At the end of my previous comment, I mentioned you need to put effort that's all.
By your reply its clear that you don't want to put any effort. So why should the local people (in southern states) put effort in learning hindi? 🤔
And about bullying, I'm sorry that you had to face bullying (I've personally not come across this). But it might be a consequence of people imposing hindi (like forcing people to speak hindi, which is not correct). Both forcing and bullying are wrong.

Language is more than just a tool for communication. Its also an expression of emotion, individuality and identity.people from the south are fiercely proud of their language. The people of the south are extremely welcoming by nature, but what is observed is that a lot of migrants are adamant on not even attempting to learn the language which is a looked upon as disrespect by the locals. Not only south, i guess the same feeling is evoked wherever the dominant language is not the common one.

Sartak got it wrong. They are not. forcing anybody to learn kannada. The thing that riles the south indians in all sourhern states is when people from north go and demand that they should be able to speak in hindi with them. And the southie is like bc, tu yahan aaya hai toh yahan ki basha bol, mujhe kyun bolta hai ki hindi mei bol.
Face it, north indians have this superiority complex over all regional people - be it south, north east or west.
That is what the regional people reject. I dont see this bridging till the north indians change their attitude.

I think it is just bluster to cover up their inability to pick up another language. They are taking a short-cut by being aggressive about pushing their language. Those North Indians who already speak multiple languages will attempt to learn the local language. It is those who have never had to learn anything beyond Hindi (and maybe English) that are the problem. Look at that Bihari migrant he interviewed about others like him. Their neighbours had to learn to converse with them in their language but they wouldn't make an effort to learn the local language.

Sarthak, this is one of the most complicated subjects. It is not a simple language thing but a lot of other things it is attached to. Do watch the video by Dhruv. Video name "Why is South India more Developed than North".. don't go with the name, but this video will give insights on why there is also a huge cultural gap between north and south region.
You might be surprised, but I belong to the North, living in the South for a very long time. Still I would like to preserve the culture and language here, and this is something that most new people in the South will not understand until they spend a good amount of time here.
Today's Bangalore is spoiled compared to what it used to be in 90s, 2000. In simple terms, how do you save a culture, it starts with language. May sound a little off, but it's true.
Specific to Bangalore, the second very important thing is the mischievous energy that many young teens bring with them in Bangalore, since they are away from parents/guardians.. could be college, or new a job. Like any parent, you would want your kids to maintain their distance. And that's also how it hits people thinking they should not follow their ways, language, etc.
Now coming to the idea of having a common language/ way to communicate in this diverse country. I totally agree, and hence we have this foreign language used everywhere which is English.

Malayalam language emotion is less here.. but if someone Suddenly came and said don't use your Malayalam make everything in hindi that is hard to accept... We respect hindi or other languages. Go and stay in Tami nadu or Chennai..u wl understand how difficult it would be to survive without their local language because they respect and proud of their language soo much.. here all u people living for years without any respect or gratitude for giving livelihood.. and u want us to learn and talk ur language (Hindi, which is not any National language, its just for administrative purposes in centre) in return..how mean it is 🥴
And by seeing some protests in some cases u are going to judge and deriving offence out of it shows mindset of u people as if you are most heart whelming ones that I was allowed to speak my language in your states.. 🙄
If u have to go Germany or Spain for job.. u should learn those languages , ugive money and learn those languages first and then only u wl fly off .. But here staying for years u want to impose Hindi on us instead of learning our language just for communication ..
Hindi people wants us to speak Hindi, Tamil people wants us to learn tamil, Andhra people speaks Telugu, and so on.. And so called sophisticated Bangloreans hesitate to talk in Kannada as if their mother language is English.. Where should we go in future if we leave these things like this..we are feeling like a minority now in our own state🤫☹️

The main problem is kannadiga themselves. Most of elite kannadiga don't speak kannada. Their kids go to missionary schools. Kannadigas follow movie stars like God. But most of the movie star kids don't study in kannada medium. Most of them prefer to watch English movies. Apart from Rajkumar family, ALMOST everyone is dying to enter or work with Bollywood people.
Real estate is taken over by Telugu people, IT is mostly by North side people, Tamil people have created lobbies and dare to ask kannadiga to learn Tamil, government is interested in distributing freebies. Kannadigas take pride only on social media. Do you know people speak urdu words in kannada? Words like road, responsibility, land are spoken as "raste","jawabdari","jameen".
First kannadigas should be proud of themselves in every field then others will not be able to snatch away their rights. Bangalore allowed urdu, Telugu, Tamil speakers to speak their language and hence no one wants to learn Kannada. You go to tamilnadu or Kerala, entire state will be united to throw you out if you don't learn their language after staying there for some considerable amount of time. Mumbai and Bangalore are prime example of what happens when you become too accomodative.

@@cocadoodledoo6346Speak for yourself 😂 . Nobody outside the cowbelt care for Hindi. English is the norm and that's why you chose to type in English. That's the only acceptable link language. Hindi is just another regional language, if you can't use it learn the regional languages to converse with people of the specific states

Misleading title. Change it to: 'Why is this mughal era language called hindi, with no real history being forced on south Indians, who speak real ancient Indian languages?'
