This is not only a Karnataka issue or a Tamil Nadu issue, language issue has been there in my own state Maharashtra for several decades now, it’s just that because we have mass immigration in the big cities like Mumbai, Pune etc and Hindi being a compulsory language taught in schools almost every local today at least knows how to speak broken Hindi and can understand it completely. Marathi Bhasha jagva, Marathi bhasha vachva has been a slogan for years as our major cities became culturally diverse way before Bengaluru. Therefore we also have the same stand when it comes to language that if you are coming in Maharashtra and are going to stay and work here for a significant amount of time, then be considerate enough to learn the language because it’s one way to give respect to the place which is your karmabhumi🙏🏻

Suno bhai. North Indian states ki bhi alag alag languages hai. Bihar-Bhojpuri, Gujrat-Gujrati, Haryana- Haryanavi, Punjab- Punjabi, Rajasthan- Rajasthani, Maharashtra- Marathi. Jab 2-3 saal tk rahenge tab aapki bhasha Sikh lenge, lekin 1 ya 2 din me aapki bhasha sikhna possible nhi

some of my friends from North Indian states are living in Bengaluru for around 10years and all they managed to learn is "Kannada gothilla". Local people dont expect u to learn 100% local language. Just few Kannada words in-between Hindi or English sentences will make them happy and appreciate you. Best example is this interview where most of the interview is happening in Hindi and host said "swalpa swalpa" and ppl are happy. I dont know why this has become national news. I have seen ppl from Delhi learn Marathi in Maharashtra without complaining then why only Kannada has become a sensational news!!

All the Karnataka people are asking here is that you leave your comfort zone and relate to them in their language. If you don't want to learn their language so you must not communicate with Kannada people and only find Hindi Speakers for your works.

Their attitude and words resemble their thoughts. They need to change that mentality. The person who comes to the north from the south for work tries to learn Hindi and try to speak so. They expect the same back. Simple as that. By the way, I'm from Kerala. Kerala often welcomes everyone with a huge heart. There are lakhs and lakhs of migrant workers in Kerala. But we have to speak to them in Hindi. Hence most of the keratitis learned Hindi now to communicate with them. You can't expect the same mentality from every state. And the southie is like bc, tu yahan aaya hai toh yahan ki basha bol, mujhe kyun bolta hai ki hindi mei bol.

Those North Indians who already speak multiple languages will attempt to learn the local language. It is those who have never had to learn anything beyond Hindi (and maybe English) that are the problem. Look at that Bihari migrant he interviewed about others like him. Speaking from a neutral perspective, we like to speak hindi and help other people who don't know the local South indian languages. But when people from North India don't put any effort in learning the local language and say that you should rather speak hindi (because it's our national language. Even though it's not. This is what imposition is), that's when we get angered.
Btw, I respect every language. Every language has its importance. In simple words, you need to put in some effort to learn and communicate with the local people. Love and peace❤

@shivamgusain5185 Hey brother, no offence, but if I go to any other state, let's say maharashtra, I will put my effort to learn marathi. That will encourage the local people there to help me learn more.
At the end of my previous comment, I mentioned you need to put effort that's all.
By your reply its clear that you don't want to put any effort. So why should the local people (in southern states) put effort in learning hindi? 🤔
And about bullying, I'm sorry that you had to face bullying (I've personally not come across this). But it might be a consequence of people imposing hindi (like forcing people to speak hindi, which is not correct). Both forcing and bullying are wrong.

They just want to see that other person is putting effort to learn kannada. It is not that hard to learn few essential words from a new language. Instead of saying "Bhiya, auto xyz (place) jatha hai?" say "Anna, auto xyz hoogutta?". It's not that hard to know these two words. If conversation requires more than basic kannada, try to speak in broken mix hindi words. They won't make fun of you. They will instead teach you the kannada word which you were looking for.

    • @Lonewolf-xv1bl

@@pranjalkumar6047 1) Not everyone is extreme with, "if you don't speak kannada we don't speak with you even if you are new to the state". I know there are people who straight away refuse to speak but there are many who listen to you and understand that you are new to the state and will talk to you in Hindi. Just ask them how to speak those lines in kannada for the next time so they will get an impression that you are making an effort.
      2) first point is the solution to the problem. Now back to why this is a problem in karnataka and not that prominent in north is because of huge migration. Let's make it clear that this issue is mainly in bangalore and not in any other part of karnataka. If you come to Mangalore (or other places in karnataka) and speak in Hindi, people if they understand Hindi will definitly talk with you, if they don't know Hindi then they will either say that they don't know Hindi or point at someone who understand Hindi.
      3) In bangalore, north people mainly come for Work and they usually stay there for years. Those are not your tourist which you may see in your place. Even after staying here for years they won't even make an effort to learn very few basic words.
      3) Look at which group of people in bangalore have issue with this. They are mainly auto drivers and shop owners. They have to interact with people because their line of work demands it. These are the people who don't know English and previously before migration even hindi. They made an effort to learn basic Hindi (you can see that in the video, most knew basic Hindi) because they want to earn money. It was normal few years back. There weren't that many people from north. Now there are lots of people from north because of migration and they straight up refuse to make an effort of learning basic kannada. Now do you see why it is the problem in Bangalore and not that prominent in north. If your city had such migration and your own native language gets suppressed and outsiders not even make an effort to learn it even after staying there for years then that will create a frustration in the natives leading these scenarios. Tourists are understable but not so from the people who migrate to those places. Bangalore people were requesting outsiders for many years to make an effort to learn kannada if they are staying here for long time. They didn't, and now their frustration peaked and some are straight up refusing to speak. What you said about your home city is what happens in other part of karnataka also. Other part of karnataka doesn’t face massive migration and those people who speak hindi are likely tourist so people help them as much as possible just like any part of India. Bangalore case is different Hindi speakers are not tourist.

North Indians donot have superiority complex in any way. By this logic , any Indian cannot travel in any other state if he doesnot know the language of the state.
You cannot go to Gujrat if you donot understand and speak Gujrati, or Bengal if can'r speak Bengali or Punjab if you can't speak punjabi or North East if you can't speak their languages .
HINDI is the INDIAN language that binds NORTH EAST to NORTH to EASTERN INDIA linguistically. This is the power of HINDI.
GUJRATIs speak their language in GUJRAT but they also speak HINDI with other without any problems and so do other Indians from different states.

North Indians and most importantly BJP- RSS ideology is forcing all the Marathi people to adopt hindi😢😢 our own culture our specialities are harmed !! One important thing is all other north indian languages like gujarati, bengali, punjabi etc. are similar to hindi.
So for them its easy to learn hindi. But all 4 south indian languages belong to completely different family of language. So it is difficult.
Also one thing I dont understand is why are people telling south indians stop learning english when they themselves learn it

what a dumbass take that I see everywhere in comments under videos like these. Karnataka is doing no charity to people from outside states staying here. People are working for organization that have their clients and they work for them and get paid by the organization. People buy goods and services here from that money + taxes which is not going back to north India but in Karnataka govt. money locker. Stop the bs @@syamsvlogs6058

Their perspective is right. Everyone should be proud of their mother tongue and standing by it is nothing wrong. Hindi is not our national language neither cricket is our national sport, so we cannot expect everyone to agree to what we conceive as our likes and dislikes.

I don't think so that south and north really need some kind of debate in terms of language India is a diverse country it is obvious that they might not speak Hindi. I is not a topic ro debate then why are we discussing so much. Its a normal situation and thanks sarthak that you normalise and giving their opinion

I am from U.P. and i know well about my state
After reading some of the comments i understood that 😢 people from south india now not giving respect to north india .
I liked south people because of their literacy and kindness but it is to be noted that only some of north india people mainly from U. P , Bihar are highly educated (low literacy level, means majority of people are able to speak and behave well) , but high level education in less no. of people from these states .
And i also support congress because of their works i have observed till now.
This behaviour and reactions are not good from south people.
Pls be united and respect mother tongue of other states also .
Pls don't say like that south > north people
I wanted to spread love ❤.

Being from Karnataka, I don't think south Indians disrespect North Indians. But they expect whoever settles in Bangalore to learn at least basic Kannada instead of showing superior complex! Having studied Hindi as third language in my elementary and high school in India, I understand Hindi well and can speak to some extent (being a fan of old Hindi films, songs, Hindustani classical music and ghazals helps a lot!). I also know Tulu, Tamil along with little bit of Malayalam & Telugu. Being in US, I have learnt few Hispanic words and some French in my business travels to Europe. Respect and interest for other languages and cultures is the key o learn!
