My tongue is still sore hahahaa... You think I would have learned my lesson as a kid. One time I licked the chairlift bar at manning park and had to ride three laps on the blue char before I was able to create enough saliva to get my tongue off hahaha
Good on you for advising about ski protection , absolutely necessary , most people don't understand how important it is to protected the largest organ of our body . Once damaged , there's no going back ! I'm 54 years old and look 30 . Enjoy skiing
What a beauty run at the end!! The grabiness might’ve been from the cold temp. I know my board was graby when it was -20C here on the island few weeks back… I think my wax was only good til -10C. Awesome stuff! Keep up the stoke! 🤙
So sad I missed the cold smoke, was out of the country when the cold snap happened :( now I'm home but everything is wet. Drove all the way out to big white Saturday to find snow (it was, at least, successful) Flute is a great peak, so many lines. When I did it, I somehow managed to find a new line that wasn't even in the spearhead backcountry atlas, an old bowl that empties out into overlord glacier. Hope you get to go back and hit the chute. 10am gondola is definitely a late start, more so without the alpine chairs helping out.
unleashed have a longer effective edge and less tip and tail rocker length. I went for enforcer 104 free to unleashed 98 in the same length and I'll say, the carving is a step up, but if I ski lazy (not engaging inside leg to keep same edge angle) that longer effective edge can totally grab in anything past hard pack or groomer. That mid body with less flex makes it a dream in the pow. Great video as always, full energy all day!
I find I can be a little 'lazier' in the unleashed than the older enforcers. But maybe it's just a mental thing. Always takes me a few days to get used to a new ski!
The general tip is to have 0 exposed skin in the cold like this. I found that those magnetic balaclavas (like North45 or Anon MFI) make a difference since you can have your nose covered without worrying about fogging. Keep it up!
Thanks for bringing me to that part of the mountain. It looks wonderfull. I don't think I'll ever be able to do it. Tell me was this done in one day ? Amazing....
Glad we could bring you along! Yep, this was all filmed in one day. It's a pretty quick hike to Kees & Clair and Fissile mountain, especially when the Harmony chair opens on time.
When was this? Im going out next week for the first time, i was worried that this week was kinda balmy. Got some sauce for the trip, great vids man, thanks for the sticker too!
May I ask what’s your touring binding setup ? I was recommended for beginners hybrid shift 10mn as starter so I can use my Alpine boot and tour boot together! Thank you love the video
I use the Duke PT 16. I love it because it's a super sturdy toe piece. The shift has some advantages because you don't have to remove the toepiece but with my weight I sometimes would release out of a DIN that low.
Welcome to Whistler! It rains cats and dogs! Non stop!! It will rain for few days and nights. All beautiful snow base will be gone soon. What a rollercoaster! From -30 to +7! Tourists, be aware! It is a lottery if you book Whistler ski trip in advance. Only locals can enjoy Whistler. The rest..I do not know. It is based on their luck. This time I am an unlucky one. 😒 Last year when I was here, it was OK. A bit icy though.
If you don't own boots that have pin compatible boots, then I would always recommend frame bindings when you are starting out. They work great on the resort and in the backcountry.
What do you use to record your audio, particularly while skiing? Just the mic on your GoPro/insta and reduce wind sound in post production? Nice job matey
Hey Andrew! I use the stock audio from the insta360 and the go pro. Go Pro tends to have a bit crisper audio for vlogging moments. On the head mount, both have a lot of wind noise. Sometimes I wear the go pro on my chest and just use it a microphone. I always prefer using the insta as my daily driver filming camera.
It’s a good day when rise and alpine posts before a ski day! Let’s go!
Yeeehaww - have fun out there today!
Thanks!
John! You're the best brother. You're keeping me fed this winter :). Glad we could bring you along for this one.

I licked the chair on Seymour once too.
I think my tounge was soar for the entire week!
Good call turning around based on day time remaining - sound risk management. Awesome vid! Thanks for posting!
Glad you enjoyed it! Risk management always comes first in the backcountry!
@@riseandalpine This is my philosophy too. Too many accidents and deaths.

I can't express how much joy this channel brings me, incredible content! + you should come to nz sometime 😉
Thanks Finn. Happy I can bring you so much joy. Would love to visit NZ when I can afford a flight. It looks gorgeous out there.
Looked like paradise. Scenery is stunning
Some of the best views ever out there.
Pitter patter lets get at her, Canadians ain't scared of no cold. A1 content, love it.
Nothing a little frost nip can't solve :)
That trail is nuts
Pretty damn fun!

Words to live by and lines to live for!
^Love this quote
I love how literally you took Singing Pass on the way down
ALbum dropping soon
yes! icon.
I feel the cold just by the crunchy snow sounds. I really hope there's a lot of colder but not -30 days. -20 is nice
I agree -30 is too much
That’s a big mission to start from the roundhouse! Too bad you ran out of time as it’s a fun one for sure but very smart decision!
Thanks Stan! There's always another day. Hopefully I can check it off before the end of this season.
Wow watching your video makes me wnana try touring! Can't believe there pow out thete by walking
Touring is a great way to find some powder when the resort is clapped out!
Dude, your channel is top notch. Thanks for your sacrifice. 🙂
Thanks Andrew!
Wish it was like this now...
Me too!
Amazing😊😊. Sunscreen is a realy good idea, plus your car keys.
LOL - leaving the keys in the ignition is a questionable ski day strategy hahaha
i love this man and his videos
Thanks Max!

Glad you found some snow in the interior. It might be the best spot to play for the next little while.
Looks like a dream 😮💯
Doesn't get much better!
This was a great session!
God bless the inversion!

@riseandalpine the unleashed are quite a bit lighter and also softer in the mid fore and aft. Easier to engage the edges.

Great tips! I've never tried the MFI but it makes so much sense for cold days
Awesome videos fr
Thanks dude!
Great to see you got a powder day in James before the Pineapple Express hit , 40F and raining here in NE Washington state .
Snuck in a little road trip to before the warming. We got rain to the top in Whistler. Lot's of fun videos coming!
That was a good weather/avalanche window! Hopefully we get a few more days like that.🤞considering recent weather.😢
Such a good little pocket for good times. Hopefully it can cool off for us here soon.
Good luck these next few days 😂. Praying for colder temps
It's going to be a pineapple party for a little while here
@@riseandalpine At least it looks like it will get a bit colder after. Has the showcase t-bar been closed all year?

@nordicavideo just wanted you to know I bought your skis because of this dude!
Ayyeeee - welcome to the team!
When was this? Im going out next week for the first time, i was worried that this week was kinda balmy. Got some sauce for the trip, great vids man, thanks for the sticker too!
This was a touch earlier in January when we had the massive cold snap. Hopefully the weather can shift to cold for ya. Stoked for you to get out here.
How sick are those Unleashed 114?!
Ripped a week of resort in them in the interior and I've fallen in love. Going to be a daily driver for all future snow days.

@@riseandalpine fantastic thank you !
James what up with the rain ☔️ 😂. It’s March a good month for whismass ?
Usually March is the best.. But this year the weather might have other plans
@@riseandalpine thank you buddy, I hope Whismass does not go down the path of global warming, still my favorite resort ❤️ I learned how to ski there
I always wanted to ski the Singing Pass Trail but never knew how to get to it.
Down at the bottom of the musical bumps. Touring and avalanche gear required!
⛷️🎿❄️ - Big Mike checking in - Shred on dude
Ayyyeeeee
warmest day in vermont
I'm a West coast wimp and do not miss the East coast temps at all hhahaha
Hey good call turning around when you realized the time
Only regret was not looking at the time so we could call it sooner and ski Cowboy twice!

Very true! Weather on the South coast is super unpredictable!
When was this? We are heading to Whistler on Wednesday. Hopefully we don’t have rain
This was January 13th
When did you shoot this video. I was just there all week last week, and it was cloudy and wet.
During the Arctic Outflow - can't remember the exact dates. Maybe January 12th or something
My friend was in the background of your video lol
Maybe say hi next time!
Awesome!
Always feel free to say hi!
Yeah it got brutal cold here between Friday Jan 12th and on thru that weekend. Didn’t really start warming up til round Jan 20th I suppose
The cold kept the snow good!
How do you like the 114s compared to your previous 115 frees?
It took me a few days to get used to them but I'm really starting to love em!
Are you still there in April ?
Yep - unless I'm travelling elsewhere
Any touring binding you recommend for beginners?
If you don't own boots that have pin compatible boots, then I would always recommend frame bindings when you are starting out. They work great on the resort and in the backcountry.
What boots you using for touring inbounds?
I use the Nordica Strider currently
130 flex
When is the album dropping??
Singing Pass volume 1 will be out in March hahaha

What is this in celsius
I'm Canadian, this is celcius LOL
@@riseandalpine Oh damn, my bad! That is freezing!! Sheeshh
song at 6:40? banger song and banger video! as always!
Sorry Joe, I've already tossed the edit files and forget the track LOL. I'll let you know if it pops into my head.
-45 F in Fairbanks Alaska(where i live) all three ski mountains that are nearby by are completely closed, not even for hiking up
I'm not sure if I've ever been in weather that cold. If you throw a pot of water out the window will it freeze before hitting the ground?
What’s the song at the start of the Oboe timestamp????
Sorry Mitchell.. I totally forget and deleted the edit files. It's some non copyrighted music. I'll let you know if it pops into my head.
Insane
Pretty sick on Cowboy! Gotta get some touring bindings on those enforcers.
@@riseandalpine yeah it’s happening this year. Any recommendations?
looks shallow low snow up high - may be better
better sessioning good snow pockets LOL
Only regret was not calling it earlier and sessioning cowboy
12:55 😂
One day I'll audition for Canadian idol
Grabby edges? I alway dull the tips and tails.
I usually let them naturally dull but I probably could do a detune
@riseandalpine One of my oldest and best friends taught me to detune my tips and tails in the 70s. Always first thing I do with new skis.
We went from cold powder to pina coladas down here in WA.
Hope the high alpine stays frosty in BC.
⛷⛷⛷⛷⛷
Unfortunately, swim shorts are required at the moment in BC as well :)
