@SirBranDon24 I was playing heroes with a new guy with traptrix. I make a good board then tell him that the deck has so much bs yet it loses to raigeki only to draw raigeki.
@jeanpitre5789 in traptrix? I have tried it myself and it seems resource heavy in traptrix, but I could go back and revise it, I have been playing a variant with temple of kings, which turns the board into a minefield
I learned in mtg to NEVER take mercy on a kid. We might be old hands but we learned as we grew...they CHOSE to play this colossal screw up of a game at a young age WILLINGLY.
I've learn to gauge them. Some kids are just little kids trying to play their favorite deck and I don't want to just destroy them....but some of these kids are menaces and you gotta treat them with grown gloves.
I once got paired against a kid during regionals. I was the only adult who wasn’t watching their child in that corner. I have never had a more humbling experience than being that far down the tables in my entire life
Gen A is very smart. They're like me when I was a kid in a much safer environment. These kids can do special fx in a minute that took me 30 minutes when I was a professional at 20.
This reminds me of when I showed up to my first locals. Everyone was asking me how old I was and how long I had been playing (I was 14 and had been playing for 5 years at the time.) first match I could have sworn my opponent had a smile on his face, and a couple people who weren’t playing were watching us. My opponent won the dice roll but let me go first. In my mind I was like “he’s either on a otk deck or he’s severely underestimating me.” I went main phase 1 activate circular in hand….i won that game XD
The duality of ygo We got the little kids doing fiendsmith/labrynth/odd-eyes tricks We got old folks playing Exodia Then we got the middle aged men in the middle runnin whatever their favorite boomer archetype is (Mine's Ancient Gears)
I remember the first time I got to duel a little kid at locals, he was playing a very casual basic beatdown deck with a Winged Dragon of Ra + Sphere Mode tech, a few years later the same kid grew up a bit and kicked my ass with Prank-Kids when they were really good. At some point they just get tired of losing and get good.
I’ll never forget when a kid absolutely violated me within 1 turn, I spent 5 minutes setting up and felt good after 5 years of not playing, I don’t even know wtf he was doing, he just kept searching and hit me with a damn exodia, I remember just sitting there baffled at what I could even do as I watched him getting each piece, I’ve never left a store so quick in my life, still haven’t went back to that place in 3 years, little man was 8 and I was 21, shit still gives me ptsd😭
I still remember the look on the face from a few people at my locals when i (16 at the time) played finals against another kid (14 at the time). "How do these little shits have metadecks and how the hell do they play them well?"
@@jeanpitre5789 Thats really cool, but i am 20 yo and we played 2021 metadecks. It was Prankkids vs Invoked Dogmatika and both of us had a lot of high rares in these decks...

Bruh same thing happened to me at a regionals. I was against two different kids so I took the games a bit lighter and was trying to make conversation. Next thing I know one of them puts me in a Marincess lock and banished my entire board while the other ended up putting me under a Vanity Fiend lock. Never let your guard down 😂😂😂
I’m an older teen, but I look way younger than my age. When I went to my one locals last year, I looked about 13 or so. So I ended up with 3rd place (the other semi finalist got 4th for a reason I don’t remember, probably a worse W/L record). Oh also, I was playing PK Fire.
