    If you read Courage to be Disliked by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga, it all centers around Adlerian psychology and even includes Adler's separation of tasks.

    I was a ruling child when I was young, I used to fight and push others, in photos I always used to play with a sword and push people behind me so I can fight instead. I've been late-diagnosed with ADHD, and my teachers used to shame me in front of the class for being loud, forgetting things, being bored by the school, and being hyperactive. After I finished school, I developed into an avoiding/learning type. Very low energy, low social skills, alcohol problems, and insecurities.

      Hi Alex. Thank you for sharing. It's not easy to identify oneself, and accept what we are. It never has been. You've managed to analyse yourself and know where you stand. You know how you got here. And I am pretty sure you will now learn how to get things right and head in the right direction. Since you've got this far, you'll be alright in the long run.

People are born with inferiority complexes and are motivated mostly by social influences and by their need for superiority or success. This need is what drives people towards one of his 4 personality types. Hope this makes sense. :)

    Being no expert, it seems though that these principles and key ideas are pretty limited due to the effect of category thinking and generalization. They might seem to apply in certain individuals but what about the vast complexity of the others? I'm assuming though there might be more nuances to his theory beyond this simplified explanation.

    • @MisterSimplify

Like most other topics covered here, it gives you a brief understanding of the concept, makes it as simple as possible and gets you started on the journey to covering all aspects. I am a firstborn, but I feel like a middle-born. My younger brother got superior genes and was blessed with an imposing frame and an arrogant hyper-aggression. I am definitely in the avoiding type, thanks to my defective genetic makeup, but my fantasies are replete with sadism, malicious intent, and medieval levels of violence. The only things that give me pleasure are seeing others suffer from physical pain and scoffing at people who make small mistakes. I am in a perpetual state of envy and bloodlust due to irrepressible feelings of inadequacy, but my revenge is not to tear others down for their success - it is to retaliate with calculated, drawn-out psychological torture for addressing me with any form of aggression. For the ones I really hate - disagreeable extroverts and abusers of vulnerable people - I'll groom them into falling in love with me then stab them in the back. Maybe then they'll know how it feels to be toyed with then thrown out like a candy wrapper.

    Adler was removed by the BBS this year or last year from the therapist MFT exam, at least in California. Due to not having enough empirical evidence to show its effectiveness in treatment. I disagree somewhat, and will continue to use value exercises and encourage clients to find meaning by engaging in pro-social activities to bring them more self-efficacy. I still also think birth order is important, but you can use family theories to analyze the dynamics of the family members. However, there's no evidence the birth order actually creates roles like this, right??

    • @MisterSimplify
      @MisterSimplify  2 роки тому +1

      Hello! That's correct. There isn't sufficient evidence in favour of birth order. A group of researchers studied about 300K students and published in the journal of research in psychology that 'Birth order is a bit like a horoscope, in that it presents you with vague enough traits that it’s easy to project them onto yourself'. And it makes sense, because human beings do like to slot themselves into categories.
