I am from Asia and I am also affected by Muller Lyer illusion affects me as well the reason it affects some and does not affect others is because - the people who see it are used to rectilinear spaces/ live in rectilinear spaces(walls with corners) and people who live in other spaces live circular huts or igloo are not affected by Muller Lyer illusion

Hello! That is based on a study conducted by Marshall et al (2003). They conducted sample tests and surveys to conclude this. The reason would be genetic in nature. Very subtle variations in our genes could alter the way we perceive things. As we know, the human brain is fascinating, and never ceases to amaze!
