    Suggestion for the end caps: Do a little cutout in the plate where the screws go so no one has to wrestle with the awkward angle to remove and reattach the handles, especially when you're saying that's a better method to do it.

    • @templeboards

      As far as I know the QC is passively cooled (heat sink) and it shouldn’t cause any issues. Plini hasn’t had any troubles using it on the road but - all that aside - it’d be really easy to place the DC7 elsewhere!

    Really fun video! Curious about the placement of the power supply, doesn’t that block the vents of the QC?

    • @templeboards
      @templeboards  3 місяці тому +1

      As far as I know, there’s no forced air cooling in the QC so it wouldn’t be blocking air flow. If it were problematic then it’d be easy enough to move the DC7 over. There is a bit of space for ventilation between the QC and the perforated top sheet of the board. The same amount of space as if you used the included rubber bumpers with the QC on a solid floor.

    I’m not an expert but mounting the power supply directly under the Quad Cortex doesn’t sound like good heat management. Especially when you’re covering the vents on the bottom of the Quad Cortex. I used the mission engineering 529M power supply. Very compact (just larger than a 9 volt battery) and it runs the Quad very nicely.

  • @sluggdiddyyddidgguls

    would have slide the QC up against the side so that the expression pedal is further from the handle because it looks like the handle might interfere with it.. in my experience people's foot placement on expression pedals isn't fully lined up on the top of it so their foot would hang off the side which in the case would mean their foot is hitting the handle

    • @templeboards
      @templeboards  3 місяці тому +1

      Couldn’t move the QC over any more because I needed access to the cable management hole on the left side. On a larger board (eg. DUO 17 or DUO 24) you could go all the way to the left and give yourself more space on the right. The handle doesn’t conflict with proper use of the expression pedal.

    • @templeboards
      @templeboards  3 місяці тому

      I haven't personally mounted an FM9, but I assume that - once all feet/screws/etc are removed - you can use four Medium Pedal Plates (one per corner) to mount it. You may be able to bypass using pedal plates and remove the screws and refasten them through perf and back into the pedal.

      I have a FM3 which has the same feet/end caps as the FM9. The trick I did was add some dual lock to the plate and to the bottom of the FM3 and then made an in between dual lock piece by putting them back to back to just give it a bit more height. I find using the dual lock with the plates gives me maximum flexibility since I am changing my boards wayyyy too much.

    So many bells and whistles, but the real problem is not addressed properly : having a 230v cable so close to audio cables. EMI/RFI interferences could be more "controlled' by placing differently DC7 and its power cable. Additionnally, mounting pedals on a metal plate is not a bad idea, but not any word about ground and ground loops... Mounting a pedal board is not only for solving mechanical problem, but could be a solution for avoiding electrical problems...
