You need about 8 inches of material on the lower sides, a flap, to keep rain out from soaking the velcro and leaking. :)
I really like this but can’t figure out why a apron wasn’t incorporated onto the outside bottom edge along the front and sides to overlap the bed sides and keep out rain. Yeah, yeah, I know. “Our extensive testing shows that the use of hook and loop tape yadayadayada...” does not give me any more confidence when I’m in the middle of nowhere in a rainstorm and water leaking in the bottom edges of the walls. Yadayadayada becomes irrelevant.
4-02-22 and the new weekender is set up and ready. Thanks todd for allowing me to utilize my existing camper top but now with some headroom
When you invent a solid sides for the same price you’ll have a winner.
Thinking the same thing for extreme hot or cold weather. Makes consider buying the lift assembly only and building my own sides using the building technique that ENDGAME described using on his “exterior construction build diy truck camper 5.0”. They would be extremely light weight, making them easy to store on the topper. Also would be very cheap to build and could even allow you to add a window ac if you wanted.
That is quite the setup!! I'm going to have to think about this one. Thanks for posting!
Love the idea. Just what I wanted for my truck.
Thank you very detail and answered all my questions.
Drinking game: take a shot every time he says 'pretty much'
I am concerned that water will enter the bed along the Velcro edge. There wouldn’t have to be any wind. As soon as the canvas gets wet, water will collect in that Velcro edge. What stops water from leaking through the canvas?
I'm curious about how this would work with a truck bed that has a spray-in liner? I don't know how well the velcro would adhere to the liner... Doesn't look like I can expect a response from the manufacturer since they haven't answered anybody asking about rain getting in at the velcro
The apron with magnet idea sounds like a no brainer to me. When it happens Im likely to become a customer. Until then- eh maybe, if I can hack a similar fix. Maybe they could make an after market fix. perhaps an iron on is feasible, make it easy. Also a passthrough window to the cab option would be nice. These suggestions have been in the works for several years with no upgrades I know of.Even given covid times Id hope fore a better responce.
Thank you
Love the camper option, but what keeps rain from getting in past the bottom Velcro seal on the sides?
He could have easily built in extra material that would overlap on the bottom ends with built in magnets. This design is incomplete but I'm looking forward to it when its durable for all weather conditions.
yeah, it is a ok design but it wasnt made by someone who has camped in the rain
@@richardwalden5390 they're based in Colorado, they must have thought about it. I just found it and I like how it cost only a little more than one of those tempui roof tents. or atleast the rugged one that I want. and something else I just thought of as far as the camping and rain, is a solution might simply be good trip planning,
Good trip planning....really? Hmmm, must not travel, hunt and/or fish in the Pacific Northwest.
@@NW_Ranger , yep, Grendel must be a fair weather outdoorsman. If it isn't going to rain all you have to do is buy some fabric netting and velcro it to the topper and spend maybe $40.
I sent you all my information to see if you have a set up that will work in my Nissan Frontier.
Would love to for my Nissan Frontier, Short bed, 2014.
I have been searching UA-cam for truck camper setups. You either have to go with barely being able to sit up, needing a really tall topper, buy one for 5 figures, or building a camper set up that has a ton of wind resistance. I looked at one video where a guy built a pop up truck camper but I thought it would be hard to keep the roof water tight. Your product solves all of these problems!!! Is there any bed topper your company recommends over others? I think I will need to order one of your setups after my new Ford tremor comes in.
What is a safe wind speed for full extension? Can you leave it up at any point? For example, can you just raise it 12" and leave it like that while camping? Thank you,
How is this waterproof? Any water running down the sidewalls would soak through the velcro and go into the bed.
It look like a great idea, however, if you consider the cost ( how much, I have no idea but I think it may go up nearly a thousand dollars). Then I think it will be better to replace the topper with a higher clearance, so just save you times and space too..
Cool
Does the ez topper have a manual overdrive?
Why no pass through window, makes no sense
Will that work on taller topper?
I also noticed that while top is up if it rains all the side panels will leak inside the bed thru the velcro ?? no outside flap to divert the rain water to stay outside?... that is weird to me , how is that waterproof? summer use only ?
What about high top topper like the leer 122...
Namaste, I am from India and interested in buying this topper lift for my Isuzu D-Max V-Cross 4X4 Z prestige model 2019 Indian version. Kindly share dealers details from India or how you can export to India and at what cost including all taxes and transport transfers.
YOu need an access window to the cab of the truck
agreed a thru window access would allow air venting and a way to get access thru to items kept in the truck
You can I have one and the windows have a screen or open option
I just cut a hole in mine. Had to be done so I did it.
You need waterproof zipper not gross faulty cheap Velcro
You have to put the side on with Velcro? Drop the price at least $500…
He popped his rod out! Tee Hee! 😆
No way I'd trust that Velcro in the rain. basically makes this system worthless.
Rather just have a pop up tent. Nice video tho.
i honestly like the idea of a camper top, it could be a good place to keep your food away from critters in a camper basket
Not even one response from the company addressing the rain issue. That convinces me to not buy from them.
People have so many questions but this company doesn’t bother to answer any of then. That’s a red flag on customer service
The velcro at the top of the bed, both sides and the front is not water proof, what will run down the canvas to the top of the bed rail and water will leak through the velcro connection.
