  • TDD or FDD is the duplexing technique which is used in the communication world for exchanging information.
To understand TDD and FDD, we have started with,
Half duplex communication where when one party talks the other party has to listen, further to extend this we have introduced,
FULL DUPLEX COMMUNICATION, where both parties can talk and listen simultaneously.
    FDD:-
Frequency-division duplexing is a method for establishing a full-duplex communications link that uses two different radio carrier frequencies for transmitting( UPLINK) and receiving ( DOWNLINK) Both the channels are separated by a defined offset frequency, which is also known "Guard Band"
    TDD:-
Time division duplexing is a technique by which the Uplink and the Downlink transmissions are carried over the same frequency by using synchronized time intervals also called as "Guard period"
We have also mentioned, the factor which will help Telecom operator to decide which technique can be deployed.
    LOW LATENCY
    EQUIPMENT COSTS
    DISTANCE PREFERABILITY
    UNBALANCED TRAFFIC
    SPECTRAL EFFICIENCY
    MAC LAYER COMPLEXITIES

Hi.. Please Keep posting such kind of technical videos. In a very short time this videos covering lot of things. A humble request from my side that could you please share videos on Protocol stacks (PHY/MAC/RLC/PDCP/RRC Layers), if its possible.. Thanks and Happy learning. :-)

Thank you so much for your videos!! I work in the VoIP field, but your videos REALLY help me! When implementing FDD, does the carrier need to 'own' both Uplink and downlink ranges of the spectrum used? Doesn't this mean that FDD is sort of "double" the cost of TDD, since it needs twice the amount of frequences?
Also...when you say that LTE can use both FDD and TDD, where is this implemented? Is it the Access network (the cell towers) that are what "accept" either the FDD or TDD from the phone or device?

Lots of people were complaining about the Text-To-Speech converter that we were using initially. That's why we decided to re-upload them with human voice.

Can we say: FDD=full duplex and TDD=half duplex?

    • @LTE4G
      @LTE4G  6 років тому +1

Nope we cannot. Both are Full Duplex. Difference is TDD can have Asymetric Traffic.

The latency point isn't really true. TDD's switching is so fast as to be basically negligible, same as Wi-Fi (also TDD). Given a 1:1 split with equivalent channel width to FDD's combined channel widths, you'll see a negligible difference in latency or speeds. With an asymmetric split, you'll see asymmetric speeds, but otherwise the same performance.

So fdd is better for gaming since multiple frequency allows signal to travel better than tdd due to single freq.? but why my download speed and upload is lower in tdd even I have greater signal quality compared to fdd. I'm getting 25mbps non CA band 40 signal and when tdd CA activates, it drops to 8mbps and mostly unstable.

Network spectrum perhaps? The frequency isn't solely used by your carrier. The government usually divide it in sizes (5x5, 10x10, 15x15) and sell it at an auction. Imagine a pie sliced into pieces. How much did your carrier bought in your area? Usage per area is a factor too. The more users connected on that frequency, quality goes down as the bandwidth is getting spread out to many consumers.

fdd better for online gaming and tdd best for downloading and watching movies
my modem router has band frequency selections and u choose from TDD to FDD
      based on my daily use
