  • THROUGHPUT (SPEED in MBPS) CALCULATION IN 4G LTE
    In this video we have shown 4 methods by which throughput can be calculated in LTE and how various factors affect the actual throughput that an end user experiences. -
    1. First we have calculated using Shanon Hartley Formula and Nyquist's Sampling theory. Which is a generic formula and can be used for any wireless commumication, be it GSM/2G or LTE/4G.
    2. Secondly we have tried to calculate the throughput using a more LTE Specific technique. We tried calculating from Resource Element perspective.
    3. However there are several other factors that affect the throughput. One of them is the overheads that are being. So in third method we have shown how the IP layer throughput varies from the physical layer throughput.
    4. For the fourth method one can refer to 3GPP document 36.213, Table 7.1.7.1-1, Table 7.1.7.2.1-1 and Table 7.1.7.2.2-1 for more accurate calculations of capacity. Table 7.1.7.1-1 shows the mapping between MCS (Modulation and Coding Scheme) index and TBS (Transport Block Size) index. Table 7.1.7.2.1-1 shows the transport block size. It indicates the number of bits that can be transmitted in a subframe/TTI (Transmit Time Interval).

    Hi, formulation is wrong! meaning 1 RB contains 8400*2 REs not 8400*2000, although final calculation is correct.

    It 's really astonishing. I have a question at minutes 2:59, if the MIMO technique is asymmetric 4x6, which factor should be used in estimating throughput, 4 or 6? Thank you so much for doing the great jobs.

    What happened dear educators? You have stopped making videos.
    I always liked it.
    I understand that these videos are of deep engineering so normal students might not have visited it.
    I suggest that please make videos in serial wise manner based on University/IIT/NIT syllabus (which may have some divergence) & ESE, CSE syllabus (you may include previous year questions)... It will attract more students and will turn revenue for u.

    Dear @LTE:
    How come a channel of BW B provide 2B symbols per sec. According to Nyquist rate, if k is the max frequency of the BW B then we must sample at a rate of 2k per sec. please correct me if i am wrong.

    While calculation of maximum DL throughput we consider enodeB uses all resources for DL only. How is it possible. I mean all subframes for DL. Same thing for UL. Why don't we consider UL traffic in overhead.

      There are 2 kinds of duplexing modes which can be used, FDD or TDD. In FDD, both uplink and downlink use different bandwidth, therefore they are independent each other. In TDD, the mobile antennas work either in uplink or in downlink. They rapidly switch their roles, however a significant amount of time they are in downlink mode. Please read about LTE frame structures to get more clarity.

    What is Symbol rate? I understand the data rate is BW/SCS * log2(qam)* mimo. But what is the symbol rate? Is 64qam’s symbol rate 3 times higher than qpsk?

    • @Icameoncetd
      @Icameoncetd 4 роки тому

      C = BW * log(1+ S/N) this is how many symbols you can send per second. If you are using no modulation, then symbol rate = bit rate. When you use 64QAM you can send 6 bits per one symbol so data rate would be 6x symbol rate.

    Are the number of Resource block allocated in LTE channel directly correlated to the number of users connected? (as mentioned in 5:50 of the video)

    • @LTE4G
      @LTE4G  7 років тому

      +Sagnik Basu - Not exactly. We gave that example for simplicity.
      There maybe several other factors affecting the Resource Block allocated to a user. It mainly depends upon the requirement of the user (which may depend upon the QOS of the Service Requested or the RF condition of the user etc) and the total number of resource blocks available at the eNodeB.
