I have watched more than 20 videos before I came across this one. I wish I had found this one first. Very simple, matter of the fact, and easy instructions! Also, the website gave me the measurements I needed for a bigger sized pillow. Thank you so much for your tutorial. You are amazing!
So happy to hear that you like the tutorial Danette. Thank you🙂
I have done this pattern but you have made it so much easier with measuring, I normally use a pillow to do the fit.thank you will be making much more.
Thank you for this easy and CONCISE video. So many videos have people talking on and on. Your instructions were simple, easy to understand and straight to the point.
Thank you for your lovely comment 😊
These are the only kinds of covers i make for throw pillows,so easy and so easy to change out for different holidays etc.
Thank you for putting "one piece of fabric" in the title. That's exactly the refresher I was hunting down.
I've only just started sewing and making cushion covers. This tutorial is by far the simplest instructive video I have seen. Thanks so much for clear and concise instructions.
I am so glad to hear that you liked the tutorial 😊
An excellent tutorial on how to make an envelope cushion cover! I've seen some other videos here on UA-cam and they show cutting the fabric and then turning right around and sewing the pieces together again!! I just could not understand that unnecessary step; really left me scratching my head.
Thanks for this video!!
You have to cut the fabric if your pillow is bigger than the one demonstrated. If you do the math, the width of the fabric you choose decides how big your pillow can go without cutting and rejoining Hope this clarifies for you. It is a brilliant easy tutorial either way. 😊 Kate
Dear Alanda, you've made a grumpy bloke (Sheffield, UK) very happy with this classy but straightforward tutorial. Clear and precise instructions and easy to follow. You are a natural teacher. Many thanks and all the best.
Thank you for your lovely comment Andrew. 😊
I’m so happy I found your channel! I made this pillow cover today and it turned out perfect! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

Thank you.🙂
What a lovely voice you have for instruction. No unececessary chat. Perfect.
Thank you for your lovely comment Debbie 😊
Thank you for such a great instructional video. I've wanted to make covers for ages but lacked the confidence. This was wonderful and I made four in one afternoon, during Lockdown 2020!
That's awesome to hear. I would love to see your cushion covers on our Readers Project page. Here is a link if you would like to share some photos www.alandacraft.com/submit-your-project/
I love your way of doing this! So much better than some of the other ways I've seen which just confused me! Can't wait to make some pillow covers now!
Thank you Beth :). It is such a quick and easy way to use up those pretty pieces of fabric that you don't really want to cut up. I made a larger version in Star Wars fabric as well www.alandacraft.com/2018/01/22/make-star-wars-fan-one-piece-fabric-cushion-cover/
Thank you so much for simplifying how to make these. Definitely on my LONGGGGG to do list.
These are so quick to make Ellie, you will be able to knock them off in no time at all, and then you can concentrate on the rest of your long to do list :)

Wow!! Instant. Thank you
Love how she is to the point. The other tutorials I have watched are too wordy, like they want to hear themselves talk!
Ohh I agree Tina they spend more time talking than doing the tutorial
Yes totally agree- I was able to make an envelope cushion in really speedy time thanks to her straight forward explaination! Thanks Alanda!
Brilliant!
I wish I had seen this tutorial first!!!!!!! I followed another UA-cam tutorial video for an envelope cushion and basically destroyed some very expensive material :( Just followed these instructions and have made a beautiful cushion. Quick, easy instructions with professional results! Thanks xxx

Thank you so much for this!
Thanks for sharing . Very easy to follow. Just made one following the method.
Excellent. Would love to see the result. Here is the link if you would like to share some photos on our Readers Project page www.alandacraft.com/submit-your-project/
@@alandacraftThanks for the link . I will share the pix.
I've made several envelope cushion covers using UA-cam, but your tutorial is beautifully easy. It's important to have a really generous overlap so the opening doesn't "gape" revealing the insert inside. Another tip is to make the cover slightly smaller than the pad so that the finished cushion is nice and plump.
Thank you for your lovely comment and for the tips.
Excellent presentation which gave me wonderful results. Thanks a million. :-)
This is so awesome and very easy. Thank you
Glad you like the project, Laurie 😊
Thank you. I foresee Christmas cushions under the tree this year. I love your tutorials. I have learned a lot from watching you work. You make things so simple and easy. BTW I like your shirt also.
Thank you for your lovely comment Cheryl. I agree with you, these will make lovely gifts. :)
I made 8 cushions for Christmas and they were a hit. Everyone got one representing their favorite football team. Now I would like to make a 16 in cushion for myself. Do I just make the 14 1/2 in to 16 1/2 inch and then just follow the regular instructions? Thank you again for this pattern and any advice for making a larger cushion.
Perfect 👍 such an easy sew, expertly explained thank you.
Thank you for your lovely comment Debbie 😊
Thank you. Have to try this.
It's just so easy Marcia, and it's a great way to use up those lovely pieces of fabric with large patterns.
Simple, easy to understand - great tutorial!
Glad you liked it
Thanks
Well done!!! I will be showing my 4-H kids your technique!!!
Excellent Rosi. I hope they like how easy it is to make.

Thank you so much for this concise tutorial. Well done! Others were so wordy and complicated: this measurement x = divided by, etc - very confusing.
Glad you enjoyed it 😀
Genius! Thanks a million!
Glad you like it.
Beautiful
Thank you Lyn.
AMAZING, THANK YOU 💐👏
Thank you Helen 😊
I ❤ it!!!!
HI... I am so pleased I have found you Alanda.... Athough I dont have the fancy gear you have I think I can manage Kiwi style :-) x
Thank you Jenny. You don't need fancy gear to do any of our tutorials, we had just the basics when we started out and that's all you need. Anything else is a bonus 😀
So simple and clear to follow!
I'm glad you like the tutorial 😊
@Alanda Craft I am going to follow this tutorial to try and turn a pair of curtains into cushion covers; wish me luck! 🤞
Great tutorial also the zipper cushion. Very clear and precise instructions and camera view. Would love it if you could you do a book cushion tutorial Thank You
Thank you Colleen. We have done a book cushion tutorial, here is the link www.alandacraft.com/2020/05/23/pocket-book-pillow-tutorial/
Thank you
Epic.
Hi. Love your tutorials. Can you tell me how to measure the fabric I need depending on the size of the pillow I’m covering?
We have the instructions for that here: www.alandacraft.com/2017/11/17/envelope-cushion-cover-from-one-piece-of-fabric/

I'm very new to sewing...but this looks easy.
It really is Sarah 😊. Welcome to the world of sewing, it's such a rewarding hobby. Here is a link to the full written instructions with photos that may also help you. www.alandacraft.com/2017/11/17/envelope-cushion-cover-from-one-piece-of-fabric/
@@alandacraft I made my first cover today! I was so proud of myself. Thanks for your wonderful instructions.
So simple.
It really is Sandy. And it's ideal for using up those pieces of fabric that have lovely patterns that are too nice to cut up into little bits.
Hi ,great tutorial, could you do French seams?
I haven't tried French seams Janine, but I can't see why not.
Hello. Once again I have a small question. You will never know how many envelope cushion covers I have made since finding your site last winter. They were loved and appreciated. Now I would like to make a memory cushion from a dress shirt. I feel I can use the same pattern using the button placket as the envelope. What I need to know is this. I will be using a dress shirt and on the back of the shirt has a large pleat at the should part. How do I cut that off without ruining the material or the measurement for the shirt? I have watched many videos and finally decided I would contact you as your videos are always so helpful. Hope this makes sense. Thank you in advance for any and all assistance.
Hi Cheryl. We haven't done a project using a shirt for a cushion cover. And it's a bit hard to give you advice without seeing what the shirt is like (pleated part). If you send some photos of the shirt through to our readers project page, we can take a look and see if we can help. www.alandacraft.com/submit-your-project/ The photos won't go up onto the website, they will just be for us to look at.
What would the measurements be for a 16inch? Do I just add on 2 inches each side?
Here is a link to the website where you will find the measurements for a variety of different sized cushion covers including the 16" www.alandacraft.com/2017/11/17/envelope-cushion-cover-from-one-piece-of-fabric/
Nice 👍🏾
Thank you Donna! Cheers!
i would like to make this cover for a cushion. measuring 65cmx65cm, please advise fabric amount. Thank you
The measurements for other sizes are on the website. Here is the link www.alandacraft.com/2017/11/17/envelope-cushion-cover-from-one-piece-of-fabric/
Perfect 10
Nice tutorial. I hate feeling zips scratch my back.
I have a 21x21 inch pillow, nor sure of the length of material to cut. Could you please give me measurements for this size. Thank you in advance
More sizes for this will be available soon, Nonna M. It's on the to do list as we have had a few requests for different sizes.
Hello. Have you got a list made for different sizes yet? Is it located on your site? Thanx.
The measurements and the formula are on the website Nonna. www.alandacraft.com/envelope-cushion-cover-from-one-piece-of-fabric/
Yes I have. www.alandacraft.com/envelope-cushion-cover-from-one-piece-of-fabric/
Thank you so much. I found them and printed them out. I appreciate your reply so much.
what is the measurement of the insert?
This was a 14" insert. Here is a link to the written instructions www.alandacraft.com/2017/11/17/envelope-cushion-cover-from-one-piece-of-fabric/
Thanks, easy to follow except for all the inch references, considering we went metric in 1970
Glad you liked the video and thank you for the feedback. In regards to the measurements, as quilters, we use inches just like many others here in Australia. Using metric never really took on here when it came to quilting. So because we work constantly with inches it just naturally carries over to our sewing projects.
98
Much easier if you use the metric system, then we don't have to guess at inaccurate nonsense measurements. There's a reason no one uses Imperial anymore.
Wow!! Instant. Thank you
Nice, easy straightforward instructions. Some of the others I've watched are more like a maths lesson! Hopefully I'll be able to make these on my new sewing machine 🙂 Thank you
Thank you 😊. I love how easy they are to make. Congrats on your new machine, you will certainly be able to quickly run these cushion covers up.
