We're obsessed with getting that natural, sun-kissed glow - so we toured the factory to get an insider look into Benefit Cosmetic's Hoola Bronzer product.

This only works for people of lighter skin. I don't understand how after almost 17 years they haven't made a darker one.
mbgleek5611 exactly what I was thinking. they made a lighter one but not darker? they should just throw in some extra brown pigment for us darker complected individuals 😂
Tbh these days I just make my own bronzer with cocoa powder, turmeric and cornstarch because none of the bronzers I buy are dark enough to show up on my skin.
Janhabi Mukherjee and it doesn't irritate your skin In anyway?
No it doesn't! I used to add cinnamon because that adds a really nice pigment, but that gave me breakouts so I stopped using it. But this one doesn't irritate my skin. In fact, turmeric is something we use as as face masks for skin very often, and it's very good for you. Cocoa powder too I've heard being recommended by several beauty gurus as a quick bronzer substitute.
Janhabi Mukherjee I've heard about the benefits of tumeric and using coacoa powder as a substitute but I've always been skeptical of using them on my face Because I breakout easily 😁 does it last on your skin throughout the day?😶
Only thing this video taught me is how god damn overpriced it is
Tazza like most things
Tazza true
True. Had mine for about a year tho and I still haven't hit pan💁🏻 worth it
Tazza i didnt realise how small this is
Courtney Norris not everyone has the same makeup habits and usage as you tho lol so it depends on the person
are you telling me my bronzer was made in a kitchen aid?
Ellen Coonan lol
Ellen Coonan 😂😂😂
Ellen Coonan no honey was made at NASA hhhhh
zinouba fatimi lmao
Haha but I think they just showed it in a kitchen aid for this video
they call it hoola but it's too light for any pacific islanders to use 🙄
Jadin Deadass oh my god...
Jadin i like u
k n personal I'm half pacific islander and it's even too light to bronze me, i wouldn't care if they didn't call it hoola and then go ahead and make it for fair skinned people. if it's only white enough for irish to use then call it potato or something
k n personal you my friend are an idiot "darker skin tones can't use bronzer"
Jadin it's not that light... hoola is too dark for me to use a bronzer but it works for contour (I'm typically a few shades in to a foundation range)
If only benefit was cruelty free.
Courtney H literally the only thing I was thinking about while watching this video:(((
yea. they forgot to show them torturing animals. sucks because i really wanna use benefit products but im boycotting
Soooo, Do you know every makeup company can get their ingredients from China? ( Also Thailand, Phillipenase etc) In China, they test on animals. Even if they say their stuff is cruelty-free, they're probably not if they get their stuff from somewhere else.
Courtney H exactly! A lot of people ask my why I don't wear 'expensive' brands like mac, benefit and use drugstore instead is because they test on animals!
Courtney H same!!
Too bad benefit isn't cruelty free...
Queen Kirlia really??????
Queen Kirlia :(
Queen Kirlia what does cruelty free means
Jeon Jazmyn haven't been tested on animals
Natalia Crespo unfortunately yes, it is required by Chinese law that products sold in the mainland must be tested on animals, and benefit just happens to be one of the brands sold at Chinese Sephora locations.
0:40 is that a bug? lol
Fi ewww
I wouldn't be surprised, they're not cruelty free lol
Fi omg! 😧🤢 it has to be!
Hi there! It's actually a spec of pigment that's floating around!
Fi omg what eagle eyes
im kinda bitter bc 1. benefit is not cruelty free 2. they need to release darker shades for other skin tones
Kedisey Leclercq c annnnnnd lighter shades
Jimbo :3 there's a hoola lite now. and if that's still too dark for some people, that's pretty embarrassing
jinni victoria How is that embarrassing ? That's like saying being 'too black' . What's wrong with albino people or just lighter skin in general ? From my perspective, you are just racist.
Jinni Victoria wow that was pretty rude. Shaming people who are pale lmfao. And FYI it's not that simple to find a perfect bronzer. You would know if you were actually into makeup. but obviously not..The regular hoola looks to muddy on me and the hoola light is too ashy/cool toned. Maybe next time know what you're talking about.
Marissa Mae omg she wasn't being offensive, she means it's embarrassing for the brand, benefit, to have a lighter shade of hoola which is still not light enough for paler people to suit them, not that it's embarrassing to have lighter skin
they skipped the animal testing thing
Omg thank you I leggit wanted to comment that
pastelseventeen Because it’s not done before every batch. All companies test on animals, dude.
morgannn Their parent companies’ websites?
morgannn Wow, you’re naive. First of all, even if that WAS 100% true, you’d still be supporting non cruelty free brands financially. Secondly? You haven’t ever wondered why makeup dupes don’t get sued by the original brands despite having the similar name, formula, and packaging? That’s because it’s the same product made in the SAME factory but put in different bottles with different price tags. My mother used to work for Lancôme while in between jobs in their factory! She, personally, bottled up their skincare collection and would see the bottle switch. What these companies do is test a product in the market under a different brand (typically drugstore, however the reverse is also true!) and see how well it does. If it succeeds, they sell it again under the other name. A lot of the ORIGINAL PRODUCT (whichever hits shelves first) is usually not cruelty free
morgannn Again, you’re misunderstanding. I used that solely as my evidence so you don’t ask “where did you hear that” again. This is all public information FROM THE SITES THEMSELVES. Not a blog or anything, straight from the horse’s mouth. Think of it like how Kylie Cosmetics is made by Colourpop. You can’t argue because there is NO argument, but have fun with your delusions and thinking you’re helping the planet I guess?
To the people saying it's overpriced: I use it pretty much every day and one lasts me over two years. It's a far better deal than a cheaper product that you have to buy more of.
holypicklesmofo I agree! I didn't use Hoola but I use their Rocketeer blusher and it lasted 2 years at least.
Hey, there! Thanks for the love, benebabes! AGREED - it takes hard work to hit pan on our powders! 😉
holypicklesmofo OMD BENEFIT REPLIED TO YOU
blessed
too bad benefit is NOT cruelty free
Lol my skin is the color of that bronzer
lol my skin is darker than that bronzer, can't even use it as face powder
My face powder is the same color as hoola lol
That amazing skin tone
Prisha Kaur for white people this colour is brown and is a bronzer colour
White people- ooh pretty bronzer!
Darker people- ooh pretty under eye brightener!
I love how they made Hoola which works for people with light medium to light skin and instead of making a darker one which is what they actually needed to do, they decide to make Hoola Lite, which is for even lighter skin. Like pfft... okay Benefit.
Maricris Sadia yeah they need a dark, but i looked muddy af with barely any on regular hoola.
+Caitlin Morrison Yeah I feel u on ur struggle I was just really annoyed that they didn't release a darker one the same time they released hoola lite
Maricris Sadia nah I got really light skin and this sh*t is too dark for me. I'm quite happy they made a lite version, but I hope they will make a darker version it's stupid that benefit hasn't made a darker version yet. They should've released a darker version together with the lighter version.
Maricris Sadia yeah i get ya, honestly it shouldn't have taken so long to release a lighter one in the first place. i know it's more expensive, but Jackie Aina has said that she likes the Becca Sunlit Bronzer in Maui Nights if you are looking for another ☺️ honestly tho, benefit needs to step up their game with darker shades.
+Caitlin Morrison haha I fucking love Jackie Aina
HATE the packaging ...
Zahara Love same, thankfully it's really easy to depot and pop into a magnetic pallette, I did that to mine.
Zahara Love but when you drop it it doesn't break
No one cares haha
Zahara Love same plus it's overpriced
pria I do
You skipped the bit where they tested it first. Immoral.
Sara Floyd Don't buy it then.
Sara Floyd the tested products are when they are new products
Emii Is madly in love with Josh Dun oh my gawd. Ehhh thanks for clearing that up... I feel you've missed the point but whatever.
Sara Floyd i agree with u
....on animals
No Hoola Deep? Their foundations literally have only 1 deep shade!!
*I only support brands that cater to ALL skin tones.*
Danny Manivanh The brand clearly isn't targeted toward those with darker complexions. The same way there are brands that only target darker complexions and not lighter ones. It really doesn't even matter, just find a new bronzer. The fact that you're so triggered over the fact that a brand doesn't carry every shade under the sun that you don't buy anything is just ridiculous. There are different brands for different skin tones and the consumer must find who's works the best. Companies are not obligated to cater to everyone. There are companies that sell mainly light shades and there are companies that sell mainly dark shades. So what?
AJ, that's absolutely ignorant.
AJ You're missing the point thay it is basically an industry standard to ignore deep complexions. Brands that cater to deep skin were made out of necessity, additionally brands that cater to deep skin nearly always cater to all skin tones.
Danny Manivanh im darker toned but im sorry, they don't owe you anything.
Your comment is just silly, I understand you want to do right but it's just not how it works...There are so many skin tones, you can't expect every company to have every shade, whether it's dark ones or light ones. They have to chose a target and stick to it, that's how marketing works.
It such a shame that behind the scenes this isn't cruelty free... 😭💔
Jennifer Haydu Yes!
True
😭🐰
Do people actually care that much about their makeup being cruelty free?...wow😌 I honestly could care less. I mean it’s nice if it is but I don’t disregard an entire makeup product or brand because of it. Times are changing these days🙃
@@nairabee245 Ok then ill prob my makeup inside your eyes bc times are changing
I just love the style of this video
To anyone watching this video whoever needs an amazing bronzer that's low priced check out the Milani bronzer XL
I have a medium olive complexion and this works bomb for me and when I get darker in summers it’s pretty build able color 2-3 swipes gets you the perfect warmth
I can never bring myself to buy Benefit's Hoola bronzer bc it costs so much and I remember that it probably only costs plus or minus 2$ to manufacture each one
Ivančica C. and they torture animals
this video was so interesting!
Nadine Felice I LOVE YOU
A wild nadine appears.
HI NADES
i love this series!!!
Love this bronzer. Nothing compares! I use mine almost daily, I just have the travel size and I've had it for a year! So worth my $15.
I love this product so much
That awkward moment benefit bronzer is basically your powder color
Oddly satisfying
I have both hoola and hoola lite. I used hoola and diffused it (as it was too dark). I was delighted when the lite came out and it is my favourite bronzer.
i love this series
i'm too dark for this lmao thats rare for me
I'm wayy to pale for it, even Hoola light looks muddy on me, it's not rare for me
I don’t think u are , it looks like it’s perfect for u
Gurl i’m an asian and my skin is too dark for this too
They use lots of Parabens in their products. Each time I use Hoola my skin, especially the area Hoola touched, gets crazy many acnes....
That model looks and seems sooo nice
Sooo satisfying
I'm not even that dark and this bronzer doesn't work for me, which is absolutely ridiculous. I'd rather use wet n wild bronzer which is a lot cheaper anyway.
Elizabeth Fabela and wet n wild are cruelty free so there's another plus
Alyssa Smith goes to show that this damn bronzer is over priced and over rated
Elizabeth Fabela same it looks sooo orange and patchy on me it’s my least fav bronzer
They have hoola lite I believe :)
lauren S it’s still an awful pale orange colour it’s not like a natural tanned look it just look like you’ve used a pale orangey/yellow eyeshadow on your cheeks
Can there be more of different make up brands I loved watching how products I use are made. Love it
I love this product
Love the little bug running across the powder ( at 40 seconds. ) cute.
They test on animals.
Nina Lisa Vestergaard not everyone lol. Lots of brands are know for being vegan and/or cruelty free
Nina Lisa Vestergaard no, a lot of brands dont
and i didn't test on animals
And what?
Benefit does not test our products on animals.
Since 1989, the Perfumes & Cosmetics companies of LVMH group (including Benefit Cosmetics) have not performed any tests on animals for our products - this was implemented long before the 2013 official ban set by the European Union.
lmao i use it for my eyebrows too bc I'm a red head and it just goes so well 🙌😂😂
Obsessed whith the look of this
i love this bronzer
I love this bronzer with all my being
Do you realize how overpriced is that bronzer? Based on a chemical point of view, each bronzer should cost less than 5$😂😂
Caterina Cesaroni except then you have workers who made it, distribution prices, owners of the company, workers of the company, pr influencers, and a profit margin that is necessary to stay in business.
Caitlin Morrison yes you're right :) evidently there is much more behind to take care of, I was just referring to the ingredients price. They are just a couple of pigment mixed :)
Caterina Cesaroni there is more. They don't want to reveal all of the ingredients
Lillian Solomon You are not legally allowed to not list the entire ingredient list :)
People may be allergic to the ingredients or what-not.
(In my country anyway)
Did you count all those hands handling the product? If they are supposed to get a fair wage, then the bronzer needs to have a fair price. I'd rather buy something semi pricy knowing the workers get paid, rather than than fighting to find the cheapest product. It's not just a question of ingredients and quality, you're also paying for good working enviornment for the workers.
So satisfying 😍
Wowww purple? Color chemistry amazes me!
I loveeeeee this bronzer but I'm too broke to buy it hahaha
You're never too broke for makeup. I'm broke as shit and still managed to save up to buy the cheek parade palette 😂
i would def save up and buy it. it lasts foreverrrrrrrrrrrr
Come visit us at one of our boutiques or BrowBars! 😘 You can sample our products there! xo
Daniela Bashe get the nyc sunny bronzer
Daniela Bashe the small version is only like 15 dollars or something
Best bronzer going 🔥

Bellissima questa terra..l'adoro😍
This is the first time I’m hearing about this bronzer.
you know whats not iconic? how benefit tests their products on animals.

Bella H You should check PETA's website.
Unfortunately, they do. Benefit is sold in mainland China, which requires animal testing to be done on American and European products in order for it to be sold there. On their FAQs, they don't mention this, however on the Sephora China website , they are listed as a brand.
Bella H ^^^^
I just got a mini sized hola bronzer,ITS GREAT cant wait to get the big size
Great Review!♥️
Love the qluality not the price...all of beneit's products are overpriced...
I'm loving all the hate comments, but it's true Hoola!!!
Hoola bronzer is amazing😍😍😍😍😍😍
I love hoola
All I can think of is how this is the same music playing during Violet Chachki's tartan reveal
why are they CONTOURING with it??
TheMeganWho hoola bronzer is quite cool toned for a bronzer, so some people (usually tanned skin tones) are able to use it as a contour. In this video though, it just looks stupid
I bought the hoola bronzer yesterday!!!
I do love Hoola!
yeah cool but you missed the step of barbaric animal testing and cruelty that benefit pays for sooo.....
The only time products are tested is when they are a new product 🙄🙄 before it's even released
In my opinion I wouldn't call it barbaric, because if animal testing is barbaric, eating animals is even worse
Lauren Elizabeth that doesnt make it ethical
pria atleast the animals body is put to use for our survival when its eaten, id say thats more rational than torturing them so that we can have bronzed cheeks
Maia you sound really stupid. millions of animals who are also innocent and slaughtered to be turned to shit.
My opinion: Something that is tested on animals shouldn't be that expensive...and shouldn't exist at all.
I love it and hoola lite
This was so neat! I loved it! I love this bronzer too :-)

They don’t test every batch. Only new formulas and products
i don't buy any benefit product because of the packaging. i wish they take them more seriously. Stila has upgraded but i still don't see any sign of benefit growing out of cardbox packaging.
If you're really that concerned about packaging... you realize plastic or metal packaging would make it even more expensive
Who cares
I like cardboard because it’s recyclable lmao, I don’t wanna have the earth destroyed
Also the amount of bronzer there
lmao imagine not buying a product that might look good on you just because of the packaging
yup this is exactly what we did. I used to work in a factory where this was one of the many products we worked on.
it sells so well for a reason.. it's amazing!!! I just got the baby travel size one for $15! now basically anyone can afford it!😄
0:41 is that a pigment bug we ser trying to crawl it's way to freedom in the blend? Hehe, no thanks, I'll pass.
Nope! It's a spec of pigment!
