This is so cool. They should showcase more touring musicians in how they use their nords in a live set up on the road rather than just studio performances with the same artists.

    Dear Nord,
regarding your extern section, please make it available that you can toggle through sample/synth/extern/ *_sample + extern/synth + extern_* for layering purposes. I''m sure that this isn't too difficult to implement and would satisfy alot of users who are bummed about the sacrifice of a section. I'm loving the board and it's new features but It leaves a sour taste when some functionality from the previous model are taken away.

I think it’s interesting that there’s little demonstration (from so many phenomenal musicians) of the seamless sound transitions, sliders, and sequencer, that there marketing as an upgrade with this board. These are 90 percent demos of standard nord bread and butter sounds. Thus, what makes this worth upgrading to from nord stage 3? It sounds like these are the same sounds you can find on a nord stage 3.

The reason I didn't buy an NS3 and went with a Piano 5 is the extra "punch" of the triple sensor keybed. NS4 has that keybed...
I would love to have the extra stage flexibility of the NS line but wasn't willing to compromise on the Piano playing to get it. Now I don't have to and now there's a $THOUSANDS question as to whether it's worth it.
My P5 already does adequate but it's weak on Organ/Synth.

    • @benallen5967
      @benallen5967 Рік тому +1

@@benjaminsmith9943 The NS4 88 and 73 do not use the same keybed as the Piano 5 - though both keyboards do now have actions with triple sensors. The action in the Stage 4 73 and 88 is the same as before, but it has one extra sensor to allow for quick non-fully lifted key repetitions. The Stage 4 Compact also uses the same action as the previous Stage 3 Compact, but also now includes a triple sensor set.

It doesn't need to be worth upgrading for you. It has whole new synth engine, effects section, and many other things, you think it should have same price as ns3 or what? I see a lot of these comments about is it worth upgrading, I assume from people that already have ns3, but honestly I think it is biased opinion, because yes, ns3 is great keyboard and many people are fine with it and don't need upgrade, but that doesn't mean that new model is bad or too expensive. Most of the price difference is same in difference between wave 2 and wave 1. I know nord are pricey, feels like old apple, it was expensive but you get what you pay for and don't have to worry about upgrading for years to come. I still can't find more complete stage keyboard from any other company (I maybe wrong, this is just my personal opinion). Sure, there are other great stage keyboards, but this really feels like full package to me, it does so many things, and does them all at top quality sound, there are little to none bad things about this keyboard, or any other nord keyboard

I'd love to see Nord redesign the monitor AUX input/output on the back so it would have some live use with IEMs. We're still missing some crucial level controls which would be super useful on stage. Like if we had a 1/4 jack on the front with a volume + level/mix control to plug IEMs into we could all make use of that at every gig. Just now if you touch the volume knob to adjust anything in your ears, that also affects what goes out to the main mix; which is pointless. So I'd love to see them implement this feature better for gigging musicians, would give us a super robust monitoring setup right there on the keyboard.

The Stage 4 exemplifies why I won’t be buying Nord again. At 41 lbs, with the same sounds from 2016, without great string/horn/choir raw patches, only 2GB additional memory, hard to alter programs on-the-fly if more than 2 or 3 layers…it’s just not what users want.
I thoroughly enjoy the live possibilities of the MoDX8, or even the Kurzweil PC4. Doesn’t hurt that both of those boards are also less than half the $$…

    • @connor_flanigan

@@stephenjoseph5265 I think it depends more on the user than the device itself. Of course an iPad is more expanded, but there’s smht into being able to modify the sounds on the fly with the board made specifically for the hardware that produces the sound.

A great instrument and one of the world‘s best jazz/fusion keyboardists, without a doubt! But i still find it a little bit strange, that they do release a completely new and expensive flagship keyboard, without a single new Grand Piano, Electric Piano or Clavinet sample in it. 🤔

You buy a new platform/foundation for your stage workflow. Nord's sounds come as a separate product throughout the life of your instrument, at no cost to us.
I actually like this approach because it keeps my musical process consistent, but delivers new exciting presets and samples from time to time, which makes this instrument 'new' and fresh again.

@@1970piano aaaaaaand? did something change with those keyboards? did recording equipment change in last 10 years? there is no need for new samples if the one they have are perfect. And people don't get this about nord keyboards, you get pure sample, then you have whole effect section to alter it to your liking. A lot of people compare other keyboards and don't understand a lot of them already implement same effects without your control. It is keyboard made like old synths, it's made for live use and having so many faders and control over everything in few clicks, you made a lot of sounds as you go and feel. That doesn't mean it is perfect for you, but complaining about samples that are perfectly recorded, I really don't understand why you think it needs new ones

Am seriously looking for a 88-keys master keyboard for my workflow (orchestral, pop arrangements). Had a Yamaha Montage previously but it’s 61 keys. No sure is a good MIDI controller keyboard is good enough or the Nord Stage 4 has enough “bread & butter” presets to keep me going without totally relying on soft synths. I have to ponder a bit since the Nord is mega-expensive.

The difference between the Stage 3 and the Stage 4 is nothing to do with the ‘Sounds’. The difference is all about how you implement the sounds when you program this thing.
These videos attempt to wow potential buyers by presenting accomplished pianists. They play the bulk stock Nord sounds that have been around for years. It’s marketing that completely misses the point.
I have already bought 3 Nords - I’m rapidly being put off buying a 4th one.

I disagree, I know J3PO and he makes the patches starting from the stock sounds (He's Keyboards sound designer and one of the best out there). What it does show is the capability of mixing the sounds and FXs to create unique sounds and touch them on the fly though.
