Excellent video and very informative. The narrator's voice sounds like Leonardo Di Caprio.
4:26 The parachute jump, was originally the Lifesavers parachute jump and was originally located in queens. It was part of the 1939-1940 NY Worlds fair. After the fair the ride was purchased by the Tilyou Brothers for $150,000 for Steeplechase park and was operated until 1960’s when the park closed. You would never jump from the top with a parachute strapped to you back. It was more like a bench with a parachute connected to it with a controlled decent like the one at Six Flags Great Adventure.
Thanks for the input, clarification, and for watching!
So much fun at Coney Island! Thats not even mentioning the aquarium and the baseball game. Theres almost too much to do there. If you’re a tourist go during the summer, when everything is open
We'd show up before sun came up😅my grandfather n uncles setting up crab traps n poles😢 my grandma cooking chicken drumsticks non stop drunk🤣🇵🇷 memories that will never be forgotten
Coney Island has that energy that is unique and hard to find in most places in America. I'm glad it brings back such amazing memories for you and thanks for watching.
Great vlog! Such a fun and sentimental place for NYC and you've captured that well.
I'm glad you've enjoyed the video. And yes it is truly an interesting and sentimental place. Thanks for watching!
Born and raised first job hell hole on 12st and Richies gasoline go carts 12st by the boardwalk in the early 80s if you know you know Together Forever 🇵🇷🤜🏽💥🤛🏽🇵🇷
I also from m Coney Island.its really changed Out of their and live in Vegas Lived in Trump Village right by the train
Great job! So many memories growing up in Brooklyn in the 70’s and 80’s, and on hot summer days going down there with the family to hang out, eat Nathan‘s hotdogs, ride the rides, and hang out at the beach! Thank you for your positive video!
I went to Coney Island in March 2018. I'd always wanted to go to Coney Island becasue I had seen it so many times in films. I enjpyed it but was a bit disappointed. It was very cold and quiet and most things were closed. Rather dull in fact. It took us ages to get there as well from the New Yorker Hotel as most of the journey was a by bus due to engineering works on the railway. I really think we did not pick a good time to do this trip to NY. It seemed to be off season. But I did enjoy soaking up the atmospiere and just being there. But I would really like to visit again in the middle of the summer season. I know it would make all the difference. It put me a lot in mind of Blackpool on the Sth West Coast of England ...very similair - apart from the accents of course! All said and done loved New York.
I'm glad you've enjoyed NYC and please take a look at some of my other episodes for your next trip to New York. Coney Island is definitely a summer spot and can be eerie and a little strange at other times of the year. Try to visit in the heat of summer next time on a weekend. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any questions at all. Cheers.
What a fantastic tour. I haven't been to Coney Island in a long time but it is for sure one of the most unique places to visit. I love how old school Coney Island feels and I think you really showed that on this video. I also remember the world's smallest lady, the bearded lady, and more freak show stuff many years ago. You made me want to return soon. Excellent video please keep them coming!
Glad you enjoyed it and definitely try to make it over there again soon. Thanks for watching!
I once was an Infant on this Coney Island Beach. Now, I prefer Jones Beach🤗LOL #NYC+#LINY
You're video is great! needed more likes!! Thank you so much!!
I'm glad you've enjoyed the video and thanks for watching. Please subscribe if you haven't already for more video tours across the world.
Very Nice! I miss it all
We’re visiting tomorrow. Your video was very helpful. Thank-you
very nice video - you captured the amusement area in its glory
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching! Coney Island is a truly unique and interesting destination in Brooklyn.
Growing up in the 60s and 70s, my best ride was the Himalaya with its great music and eating Nathan's hot dogs and fries. ❤❤❤
I love the himalaya, and Nathan's is always a classic. Just visited Coney Island yesterday, and had a great time once again. Thanks for watching.
My favorite place to visit!!
same one of my favorites
Coney Island is one of my favorite place on Earth because it is so unique and colorful. Thanks for watching!
It's always fun, whether you have m0ney or not..there is so much to see it's incredible. People Watchers are in Heaven over there..there's all.sorts of funny, hysterical.stuff going on!!
great video thank you
I'm glad you enjoyed the tour and thanks for watching. Please let me know if you have any questions about Coney Island.
Excellent video! I grew up there in the 70's. I can tell you it was a scary neighborhood. I didn't like to go there when I was 9 yrs young. 😅...My mother would bribe me with Nathan's if I went. That Stillwell train stay was the scariest. Drunks, homeless etc...always gave me a bad vibe. I'm glad to see them building it up... LOOKING REAL GOOD. I'm making a trip there this summer to reminisce. I really am looking forward to it. You should consider having your own Tours there? You would be the first and can make lots of $$...... Thanks for the video man....I can't wipe my smile off as it brings back memories....😊
Make sure to check for skimmers if YOU use a card when YOU visit.
Great video. I enjoyed watching this and it brought back memories of Coney Island visits so many years ago. Nathan's hot dogs are great and I would also indulge in raw clams on the half shell!
For sure. Coney Island is a truly unique and almost other worldly experience bringing you back to a simpler time. Thanks for watching.
I was there yesterday.
Hope you had a good time and got to see all Coney Island has to offer!
You did a great job with this video, I felt like I was there experiencing all the funkiness too.
Glad you enjoyed it! Let me know if you have any questions about Coney Island. The funkiness is the best because it is one of the weirdest places in the USA for sure and half the fun is simply people watching. Thanks for watching!
Planning a date, going to coney island for supper, walk down the boardwalk/beach and watch sunset, then go to a rooftop bar nearbyish for a few drinks, and hopefully catch Friday night fireworks at 930 from the rooftop bar. Do you have tips for parking/ just take the subway? venue for supper? Venue for rooftop bar?
Inner city rec center with rides. I would go but be concerned.
I grew up there. The amusement park and boardwalk are its only redeeming qualities. The neighborhood itself is a dump. I know it’s changed since I left, but much of the same stuff is still there
Yes a very scary place in the 70's.Especially Stillwell train station ....YIKES! My mother would bribe me with Nathan's if I'd go with her.....But it definitely has come along way. I'll be visiting this summer..I can't wait to reminisce my old neighborhood....😊
if you ever been to canal st New Orleans, its a similar look minus the drunk people.
Yes I hear Canal Street in New Orleans is very similar. I'll be doing a video on New Orleans soon- so please subscribe if you haven't already to make sure you see it when it comes up and thanks for watching!
Been here, but a little advice -- avoid weekends....every 5-10 feet some idiot with his gut hanging over his waistline is blasting music through huge speakers all along the boardwalk and everywhere on the beach -- some bring more speakers with them than some concerts have. Zero class. Zero consideration for others. Just NOISE from all directions. The only person we saw wearing headphones was a homeless guy. Aren't there city ordinances for blasting music every few feet like they have on the Jersey Shore, Seaside Hts? A totally different class of people. Love eccentricity. Love all spirit but LOUDER EVERYWHERE is not better nor fun. Then on top of all that Luna Park was blasting more music from the Parachute Tower and throughout the amusement park. Add it all up and it's not enjoyable. Zamperia family and the NYC city task force take notice!
Hahah yea it could be quite loud in coney island and everyone wants to hear their own personal music. It's like boombox/bluetooth speaker central- but I think its so accepted because that's the vibe there.
You're not really going to Coney Island to have a peaceful day on the beach while listening calmly to waves- that's more suitable for the Jersey and Long Island beaches. However, a little secret for next time you go- if you want a calmer quieter beach- head just a couple of blocks east of the parachute jump and it gets much much quieter. Thanks for watching!
😂😂...Yes!!
You clearly didn’t grow up in Brooklyn or NYC and your comment shows it.
Do you pay for each attraction or ride or can you get a wristband to enjoy all rides as many times as you want ?
In Deno's you pay for each ride, but in Luna park- the more modern section with rollercoasters you pay a one time price for all day admission to all of the rides. Thanks for watching!
The streetlights and double guywire traffic lights near Coney Island get the worst deal, being bolted and stuck to the ground indefinitely. 😂😂😂
Haha true. Thanks for watching.
By the way, the Warriors did not shoot Cyrus. The police did it.
Hello neighbor
Hi, is it worth a visit in a weekday in October? What do you recommend to do in Coney Island this time of the year? Thank you!
Coney Island is always an interesting experience. Interestingly, the weather in Brooklyn doesn't get too cold until after Halloween really so if you go in early to mid October it could hit 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit in the middle of the day. So you could do most of the stuff in the videos minus the beach. You could still walk on the beach- it's just no longer watched by a lifeguard. Also after Labor Day you could bring a dog on the beach. Everything else is still open and it might be a better experience because its not as hot and less crowded. Could be a little dead and creepy from after Halloween to March though- especially because the sun goes down earlier and is generally lower in the sky. But if you want the most quintessential Coney Island experience mid summer would be the best. Thanks for watching!
October isn’t a really great time to visit. Not many people in the park and it’s partially opened. It will feel kind of creepy😂. However. There are things to do. The broadwalk is still nice to sit and be entertained by the many people passing and activities there. The Aquarium is open. There are a few bars along the broadwalk including Nathan’s opened all year. There is the baseball stadium that opens in October as well as Abe Stark Sports center where you can ice skate in October. We go every New year or try to…not since the pandemic. There are concerts on the broadwalk. I forget the name of the place. So there are things to do. There is no shopping within walking distance so don’t look for it. Further down past the Aquarium there is a a lot of Eastern European restaurants opened all year near the broadwalk. Many have a restaurant/bar like atmosphere and some have hookah.
I really enjoyed your video. I haven’t been to the park or the broadwalk since the pandemic. They are going to put several casinos in Coney Island. I’m not happy with that. It will bring vagrants by the dozen and it will differently change. It will be opened all year. I hope it doesn’t change it. Also there is a ball drop on New Year’s Eve on the broadwalk every year now. I tried to go but that wind coming off the ocean…..😂😂😂😂😂 no thanks. Maybe I’ll be brave one year. 😂😂
Haha yes hopefully Coney Island doesn't change too much because it seems to be almost frozen in time- which adds to its quirkiness and charm. Thanks for watching.
How’s the water? Is it clean?
mmmm its decent. If you're used to caribbean or florida water, you might be disappointed. But its not too bad. Thanks for watching.
it's seedy! lol. i'm from long beach L.I.. but live in las vegas 35 years. and we took my california wife there. winter. nathans. with kids. boardwalk. the cyclone was not running! they got a kick out of the latin kings graffiti!
Est-ce visiter Coney Island en Avril est intéressant ? Est-ce que c'est dangereux pour une femme qui voyage seule ?
I would not say it is dangerous for a woman visiting. I wouldn't go there on a desolate night, but on a summer day it is super busy. Thanks for watching.
April is out of season. You want to wait for June to go when it’s the most fun, with the most people, and with the most rides and attractions open. It’s pretty safe there during the day and even at night and the amusement park. But before it gets too late, head back to the city.👍🏽. April is too early and most everything there is closed. 👍🏽
dont get the loose candy at its sugar people put their dirty hands in it and even spit candy back into the jars save your money a dog at nathans is 5 dollars you can go to supeermarket and get a whole pack same hot dogs 8 dollars or 2/$5 when on sale
Thanks for the tips and for watching!
are u kidding me people didnt put on a parachtte an djump from it get your facts straight it was brought over from the 1939 words fair it was a ride u sat on a seat and attached 2 it was a parachutte and it dropped ask a bklynite
Thanks for the clarification and for watching!
Looks like a 3rd world dump.
Because it is
That’s New York for you
