It would have to be the double dip. I heard of this sandwich on an episode of man vs food. Good location
Same way we just had ours Champ lol
Me, Ben and the JFK--all day.
Double dipped KFJ!
You 2 guys are getting hungry now. It looks as good
It's soft, it's wet, what's not to love? Ben's words to live by!😂
🤐
lol :)
That was the first time I ever snort laughed watching one of these. The best element of humor is surprise.
@@melissam7146 I agree!
😏
Brennan and Carr - my dear mother-in-law's (Brooklyn born and raised) favorite restaurant, may she rest in peace. So nice to see it still in operation! Enjoy!!
"Dear mother-in-law." Those are words you don't see together very often. I had a chuckle.
Lived in Brooklyn my whole life. These three (four with L&B) are part of my life's story. They are some of the reasons I don't leave the city, no matter how horrendous it has become the last few years.
im a piggy like that as well
Specifically Brennan and car
Brennan and Carr - play-by-play dipping roast beef and buns is hilarious 😆 😁😸😬😺
Great spot you would enjoy 😉
You're always giving me more reasons to travel to other boroughs. As a beef lover, I think I'll find myself in Brooklyn soon.
Went to Brennan & Carr 10 days ago
Visiting from UK and Richie was amazing. He wanted to talk to us and get to know why we came and what did we think. He was so great and the recommendation of the blueberry pie a la mode was awesome. Spectacular place and will be back soon.
I went to Brennan and Carr today. Absolutely delicious! I had two Hot Roast Beef sandwiches (Dingle Dangle) style! The gravy was so flavorful and the meat was tender and delicious. It is all the way in Southern Brooklyn, but it’s worth taking 2 subway rides and a bus to eat this delicious sandwich!!
Planning a trip for me and my wife. I would be lost without your videos man. Can’t wait to see nyc
Thank you for the video!!! I am glad you did a video on these roast beef restaurants they are so underrated tourists should come to these spots
Thank you so very much for bring out the New York Roast Beef connection. NYC has the best roast beef. I grew in Howard Beach and my best memories are a big roast beef sandwich with a new pickle at the Big Bow Wow with my Grandfather as a kid. Thanks for bringing back the memories
Bill in Fort Wayne Indiana
You’re very welcome
That roast beef looks super juicy! Gotta try that out next time out in Brooklyn
Let’s go
Hi, how are you? Another Lovely video about NYC, thank you so much. I enjoy watching your video’s about Brooklyn, Manhatten etc. I’m not from the USA but from Amsterdam, Netherlands. Did you know that Brooklyn is from Breukelen? NYC used to be Dutch, New Amsterdam. Anyway I love Brooklyn, Beautyfull architecture and I can see why you prefer living in Brooklyn rather than Manhatten. Roast Beef sandwich, you enjoy it😂too much gravy. I like broodje Rossbief dry. Anyway keep ‘em coming, the video’s. I liked the one about the blizzard. I kept watching because you have a soothing voice, it calmed me😂😝🙏
I found out 38 years ago due to a health issue I could no longer eat beef but I watched this and it really made me miss it-keep up the good work Jon I love all your videos I can’t wait to come back to New York and visit again soon hopefully
I used to go to all of these places when I used to work near Coney Island. They were all wonderful places. It is quite out of the way, but if you go, you won't be disappointed.
I think the roast beef flies under the radar because many cannot make it right: they either don't cook the beef tender enough or they cut it too thick for a sandwich. So because of that, most ppl go for the more famous sandwiches because they're "easier" to get right.
I look forward to the content on your channel! South brooklyn :). Great reviews. Even though I live here all my life i still discover new things thru the videos. Fun. Mill Basin Deli, Fillmore Diner, Dollys, Brennan and Carrs, totally. Thanks Here Be Barr.
The gravy is like treacle in the first one, but all that beef. Wow. Fantastic eats.
Ok gotta say many times i disagree with the pics but this time you hit it out of the park, I drive from northern Jersey all the time to specifically hit these spots. NICE Job
Now I am hungry for New York
I've lived in NY 30 years... never heard of these places or even that Roast beef was a thing here. Definitely gonna try it. Thanks for uploading.
Back in NYC tomorrow; yes I do follow these food vlogs.
I grew up like a short walk from Brennan and Carr's. I only ever ate there a handful of times, but I love that place.
I live 10-15 minutes from all these spots and frequent them- good to see them getting some love!
Brennan & Carr's Richie Egan is an iconic server!
I literally see him as the face of the restaurant ✨
All 3 places look superb. Looking forward to my first trip to NYC
Great video. Keep it up!!!
The gravy at the first place looks phenomenal, on its own!
i live right down the road from brennan and carr i been eating there since im a kid my go to is roastbeef with cheese and sauteed onions double dipped at some points id eat it every day lol my stomach wasnt as pleased as my mouth
These NY food videos are friggin awesome, you deserve as many likes as you do views! 🍔🥓🍕🍕🍔🙂👍👍👍
Still go to Johns Deli and Roll n Roaster after all these years . I'm from Bensonhurst and still eating at these wonderful places.
Wish I was closer...looks mouth watering tasty tasty tasty....Thank you for this and all.Truly appreciated 😋 🙂
Roll n Roaster is an institution in Brooklyn! My mom and dad would go during high school in the 70s and now take me and my sister! Spumoni gardens is also a family favorite! Had my brothers birthday there! Amazing pizza and spumoni ices! There used to be a Brennan and Car in Rockville Centre that I loved but since it closed we have to make our way to Brooklyn (which we don't mind!).
I didn't know you tried Brooklyn food, Jon! Thank you!
First time watching but straight to the cut. Great way
I was at Roll N Roaster on Friday nights many times.
Lived in Sheepshead Bay 1971-96
John
Great video.
I live 5 minutes away from Roll N Roaster. Eventhough they are famous for their roast beef sandwiches. They have great food as well.
I have gone to Roll N Roaster prior going to the Movies which is about a 10 minute walk. Sadly across the street there use to be a restaurant called Il Fornetto which had entertainment on Saturday Nights Pandemic came Land got bought out and rumor is condominiums are going up.
My dad used to take me to Roll and Roaster when we lived in Brooklyn. There was another place called Zeke's I remember seeing but not the food (It looks like it closed for good 5 years ago).
I just filmed a video for my channel about the Neba roast beef that originated here in Albany, different from this style beef, but also really good.
Zeke's was on 3rd Ave in Bay Ridge right?
@@CinCee- I gotta be honest, it was so long ago and I was so young, I'm not sure.
@@derryXDINES Long time ago? Zekes was around less than 10 years ago
@@CinCee- I moved out of Brooklyn in 1986
@@derryXDINES ohhh wow lol.. thats definetly a long time ago!
Everything being said, John's makes it happen⭐ Side note, probably the BEST hot roast beef sandwich in Philly is at John's Roast Beef in South Philly at 20th & Jackson sts👍
Went to high school at Lafayette in the 2000's, place is a gem!
Brennan and carr is amazing, just visited and the double dip was awesome
Hi from Ireland. Watched this late at night and now I'm craving a sandwich.
Just come from NYC and I tried the Johnny roast beef sandwich, and wasn't disappointed, 😋
These sandwiches looked so good that I made French Dip sandwiches for Thanksgiving! I'm sure these are better than mine but I don't live near NYC. One of my favorite sandwiches, thanks for putting those restaurants on my visit list!
I remember going to Roll n' Roaster with my grandpa when he was still alive. Every few months, my dad and I go to Long Island to pick up my grandma and we'll make a stop through Brooklyn to get a roast beef n' cheez with cheez fried. They changed the fries from the circle cut to the chip cut but theyre still just as good as they used to be. Somethings never change and I hope to bring my kids there one day to share that experience with them too.
Kinda reminds me of the dipped Italian beef sandwich from Chicago but better...
Back in the 80s, you’d have a hard time getting into these places. They used to be jam packed. Unfortunately, the Brooklyn that we all know and love is nothing but a memory now.
That dipping gravy looks so thick and rich. I never knew about these type of roast beef sandwiches. I must try.
I'd love to have that sandwich. It looks so good! Cheers! ✌️
I remember the rolling roaster. I never ate there but the food looks good. I will add that to the list of things to do when i get back home!
Nice video.
Roll Roaster is my spot it's kind of a fast food roast beef sandwich place however I heard Brennan & Carr is good but there sauce makes there bread to soggy. I'm definitely going to try John's deli sandwich.
THE ROAST BEEF AND CORN BEEF AND PASTRAMI WITH NACHO CHEESE SAUCE AND SWISS CHEESE SANDWICH SOUNDS GOOD TO ME TOO MY FRIEND
Jon, another well narrated video. Yea, roll & roaster is a sheepshead bay landmark. They have the best Roast beef sandwiches. Keep up the good work.
I’ve been to all three places and they are amazing!!
A friend of mine from Jersey showed me the proper way to eat a cheesesteak. Provolone and have the cheesesteak dipped twice in it's own anju. The anju adds another dimension to sandwiches. I used to be a crispy bread guy but I was converted to the "wet side" lol Meat juice on the bread? Yes please!
Thank you for all your recommendations Jon, we ate at quite a few and were all delicious. I was looking out for you when we were exploring 😂😂 beautiful city, can’t wait to be back.
I drive past Coney Island on my way to JFK to work so many amazing things I have never known about that were less than a mile away from the Belt Parkway! Love what your doing.
Man I love B & car the best sandwiches,no one does it better🚨💣🚨
Glad you're finally in south Brooklyn. My fave places! No secrets here for us locals! Better food and way cheaper than Manhattan. So many memories going there in the 90s. Miss the other joins that closed over the years tho. Use to be a bunch fun/cheap places that are no more =( Can't believe it took you 10 years to get out of Manhattan!!
Never ask for roast beef well done.
Med rare. I love right here in Brooklyn and Roll n Roaster is by far... My favorite 👍
Amazing Video
Thank you
so original
Excellent video and brilliant way to introduce the rest of us foodies to more great eats!
My husband and I are in Brooklyn for a visit. We are hoping to run into you, we are big fan!!!
I've eaten in every place in this video! All are great roast beef heros.
Eat Hard 🍔 Workout Harder 💪🏼
Growing up in Scotland in the 60's, when dad was making mince for dinner? We used to get what we'd call a piece in dip..( slice of plain bread dipped in the gravy of the mince ) guess we all have variations.
Oh my Gosh Jon that looks so yummy !!
Hey John
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022
GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY USA
HAVE A NICE WEEKEND
Roll N Roaster was delish.
Growing up in sheepshead bay roll n roaster been the spot and will always be my spot
Glad that Wilson Fisk is serving sandwiches
the first stop is the winner!
When I was in high school in Boston I got a job at a family chain place called “Kelly’s Roast Beef” I would always see people ordering the roast beef but I was never a fan lolz. Their seafood was honestly just as popular or even better than the roast beef. This was back in 2009/2010 and the prices were so high to me back then I can’t imagine how much it is now lol. But when I go back to visit family I ALWAYS stop by cause the food was so damn delicious I gained an easy 15lbs there in first 3months lol. Clam chowder and cheese fries 😋
Jon have a Happy Thanksgiving ! I will be sure to check out one of these restaurants when I'm in NYC !
Treated myself to there last week. Had a double dip roast beef with grilled onions and cheese sauce, Cheese fries and 2 cokes. So good. The waiter was really nice.
Quite similar to the beef dip we have in n
Northern England often accompanied with Sage and Onion Stuffing
I go to Brennan & Carr regularly.
Its so good with professional waiters & a very relaxing atmosphere
Born and raised in Brooklyn, and out of the three places john deli is the only one I never heard of looks like a good place to go might there one day? as for me being raised in Brighton Beach, sheepshead Bay being nearby rolling roaster and Brennan and carr are institutions 💯
I go to Roll n Roaster every month, and I go to Brennan and Carr once in a while. Johns is good too. Like all three. Brennan and Carr you have 5 minutes to eat your sandwich before it dissolves, but soo good
Good Job guys food looks great and will definitely take a drive down to John's Deli for that sandwich such a roast beef fan even went to the City to get to an Arby's when the urge hit so Thank you once again that gravy from John's looks amazing like molasses lol but gotta say more of a fan of the roll breads from the other spots will check those out as well
Man you always find the besttttt food. I literally keep a list from all the food spots in your videos I wanna hit lol
I lived 5 minutes from roll & roaster basically my whole life. Moved to Jersey a few years ago but every time we visit my fam we go there.
Thanks for the memory as I forgot Roll and Roaster is still on Emmons Ave. Commercial took me back.
The first one looked amazing, that gravy was like tar but in a good way.
Excellent video! (as usual)!, sandwiches are always an awesome food, all 3 spots seem really great in their history etc but the John's sub with the reduction gravy looks like the best of them
I've lived in Brooklyn most of my life and never tried any of them even though my mother lived in Sheepshead Bay, right down the street from RnR, and not far from B&C. Only John's was new to me as that's not an area I would frequent. I'd only been to L&B a few times in the last few years and never went there either before. But last weekend my wife and I did a trip up to Buffalo to see the new Buffalo Art Museum and the Darwin Martin/Frank Lloyd Wright house. As we got close my wife thought lunch should be the first order of business, and as we were coming in on the thruway I mentioned this place "Charlie the Butcher" as being on the way and famous for the "Beef on Weck". That had to be the best sandwich ever. Hand sliced thin perfectly rare roast beef on a kummelweck roll (salt and caraway on top) dipped and with horseradish. It was just so good. While there I said we have to at least try Brennan and Carr, so maybe one night this week. I can skip RnR as my kids tried it while visiting grandma and didn't like it at all.
Aww man - got me very hungry now! I like the Double Dip, u can just pick up & scarf down. Now I have to digress and get the grill going-
May not be as sumptuous as the roast beefs but it will do 😀
Geez Barr I almost ate my phone
🤣🤣🤣
I’d eat all of those. Thank you for adding to my list of places to hit up on my next visit.
That gravy from the first one looked like motor oil it was reduced so much. I bet it's rich in flavor.
Mouth watering!
I have never tried roast beef but this video makes me want to try these restaurants! Especially the last one.
i definitely be seein that big dude on the trains all the time. i know him from somewhere lol
Best beefs you can get are on the north shore in Massachusetts. Nothing beats a 3-way
I didn't know about Brooklyn and its' hot roast beef sandwich, those sandwiches for some reason I can't explain it just look and feel like Brooklyn especially John's Deli, I wouldn't want any cheese on the sandwich mozzarella or Cheese Wiz, when I went to Pat's and Geno's in Philly I ordered a steak sandwich without cheese, the guys behind the counter and everyone in line looked at me like I was from Mars and all the guys behind the counter were talking about it LOL, I'm not lactose intolerant and I like cheese but not on my roast beef or steak sandwich
I miss emmuns Ave rolling roaster and the endless seafood restaurants as well.
Been to Brennan and Carr’s and that place is soooo good!!!!!!
Brother, a au jus that sticks... I dig it!
I have tried rollin roaster. Awesome roast beef and cheese fries. I must try johns and brennan and carrs
