I’ve also always been a DA guy until I was with Yvan for a weekend and he turned me onto rotary for finishing. Now I cut with a DA and finish with the rotary. I get much better results with the rotary when jeweling paint than I ever did with the DA. You should really try it.
I’d love for Matt to really give those polishers a fair shot as I think Yvan is really on to something especially with it being only the first iteration
@00:07:07 I would prefer a wider base for the tire platform, because once the wheel stand and cradle is in motion the mass of the wheel and tire combined with the tire-cradle's raised center of gravity -- which can already extend pretty high, combined with some errant footwork and -- Gonzo -- there goes your tire right out the door!
There are multiple tire stands out there. Go to any decent sized shop and see what they are using. Especially shops that do a lot of truck tires. The shop I use has several types of stands for removal depending on if they are using the alignment rack platform or two-post lift. None of them are perfect because you can't really access the lugs with the tire/wheel captured. Then getting them to the mounting machine is another issue itself.
I was watching Papa Smurf. He was at this booth with this Canadian company. I can’t remember the name I have to go back and look, but you might run into the Matt some really cool pad washers and a pretty cool grit guard that is 360° around the bucket..
I have never said to myself, "I could really use a pad washer right now." while I was in the middle of a panel. Maybe I'm wrong, but I tried one years ago and felt dumber afterward. Just put a fresh pad on and get back at it. $100 worth of pads will do a vehicle. Then wash them properly when you're done.
The Mirka 3" RO is so much better than anything else out there. I don't know about the rest of their current product line. It may suck for polishing marble, but on vehicle paintwork, it is titties.
Matt on the next Dialed In Podcast can you review and explain to your viewer fans exactly how compound interest works! Fed chairman Powell instituted a 25 basis point rate cut in order to curb the chance of our national banks failing. This makes loan origination in most sectors cheaper. Higher interest rates eat into bank lending margins, making loan origination expensive for banks, causing them to reduce the amount of excess currency to goods ratio in the U.S. economy. Banks which cannot survive on these margins will fail. It also signals a viable window to allow consumers to spend, as there is value to be found in the economy. However when rates are cut, this signals the possibility of an excess cash flow heading into the currency supply which can overheat the economy and cause inflation. Consumers are less likely to spend in an inflationary economy as banks write more profitable loans to lenders. For example in this scenario if a lender approves a 10% fixed APR for 5 years, because it takes the loan a decade to double to 100% this also indicates you will be paying an additional 50% of the loan amount within the fixed 5 year term!
A 5" RO by Mirka, a foam cannon by Mosmatic, a Panda (MOP) with a carbon case and bracelet, a decent transmission and exhaust on an AMG. These are things that I wish existed.
Was that the AR Wall-Pro2.0 pressure washer? AR has it in its 2025 catalog with a list price of $2,149, what makes this unit so expensive? Its rated at 1500psi and 2gpm! Why would I choose this over the 630TSS?
@@ObsessedGarage I can only image what they would charge for that, probably over $3000. They would need some type of control box with a contactor in it that the TSS would control to turn it on and off.
I always look forward to your SEMA videos, because I know you're showing us all the good stuff. The DIY Detail polishers are not the nicest to look at, but they make a lot of sense with the design. They may be made in China, but Yvan has specified the quality where it really matters. I want to learn rotary, so I think I'm going to buy one from DIY Detail (to honor the source). I'm a little surprised you hung out with the House of Rags guys that long. I think Eddie is a good dude but I didn't think your personalities would mesh. I know you couldn't care less, but he's been trashing you (and he has said that he hates you) for the better part of the last year. Dude has had a bad case of MMDS but I keep trying to tell him you're actually a good guy. Those Biobomb air freshener bars are awesome BTW, they easily last 60 days. We need an OG Leather and Pine version.
Different business models and audience. One group doesn't like the other, while one group doesn't care about the other. I never understood how being cheap (for the sake of appearance) makes some feel virtuous. You can puke up, "value, bargain, less expensive, and lower price point" all you want. But all I hear is cheap and a waste of money.
You are the best for covering brands at SEMA. One of my favorite series if you can call it that.
Thanks for stopping in Matt and Tommy.
The smile on Matt's face after putting hands on the polisher at your booth was the best part of the video.

The battery placement is pretty genius with the balance and its out of the way.
@ exactly. And batteries will only be getting smaller while packing the same punch from here on out!
Same here. I will be keeping an eye on this.
Yeah that DIY polisher is ugly but is pretty thoughtfully engineered from a useability perspective.
You’re such an inspiration to my life Matt. God bless you and family. 🫡
Awesome to finally see brands working with you and collaborating.
Love seeing these interactions and seeing people like Keav randomly in the background. Haha I would love to visit SEMA
Matt going to DIY Booth and being impressed by the polishers is my SEMA highlight

I don’t think you would in its current form. But it has potential to be 3.0 GPM @ 1000 PSI on 240V 20A.
