I wore my front tires down and needed an alignment after putting the stock stuff back on. But now that I have them set it's just a matter of not being lazy and reinstalling them. Dude. Thank you 🙏.... I bought some K2's and threw them on straight out of the box thinking it would be fine. My car drove like shit and it threw off my alignment. So I took them off and put them in storage for 2 years and I watched your video the other day because I was ready to give them another go. I followed along with you, and I set my preload. My car rides like a dream bro. And I went to get an alignment done directly after. I will make my own video for my channel using the K2's I put on and I'll be sure to mention you if you are ok with that. I copied a link to the video and posted it in a FB group because another guy is basically trying to learn as well. Thanks bro.
I have a 2001 Honda Accord with a Spyder package and cold air intake Headers, dual exhaust. I just rebuilt the front end. I watched the wrong video. So I will readjust them the proper way thank you. Also I am 71 years young.
Awsome helpful video.. just bought a set of Mono SS and tripped out that you don't lower the vehicle by the top perch. I was so used to Skunk2 coil sleeves lol.
This is correct, but this would mean you would have to disconnect the bottom bolt every time you want to make an adjustment. The correct way is to turn the top collar to the left to lower and turn the bottom collar to the right to raise, of course you have to loosen the locking collar first to make adjustments.
Is this the proper way though? It eont affect the way it rides or anything or the way it sits? Im trying to install my first set of coilovers and having a hell of a time lol.
Mr_Robear long story short I put on some coils thinking that while adjusting the preload was lowing the car which i did but just realized i was also messing with the preload. Can I return preload to factory setting and also lower/ raise the car without taking the coilovers off?
Umm once the coil overs are installed it is impossible to turn the bottom part, you will have to turn the collars. So I guess his method of adjusting the height is you have to remove the whole coil over. What if you want to adjust the height a year later without having to remove the whole damn thing? You would have to use the top part
@@ter405 1: Unlock bottom small perch 2: Unbolt the bottom bolts from knuckle/ hub assembly 3: Remove coil-over from the bottom knuckle/ hub assembly 4: Spin the lower shock counter or clockwise to adjust height 5: Install back to knuckle/ hub assembly 6: Install bolts 7: Lock lower collar Not a hard concept at all. Too much work? Get lowering springs.
Preload is correct but Nobody ever sets their ride height by taking the lower mount off and spinning the whole tube. With the coil over fully installed you simply spin both of the upper lock collars at the same time. That will thread the entire unit in or out of the tube body. Then lock in the lower collar.
@@jeffroberts2279 When the 2 collars are locked together you can use the wrench to "tighten" the upper collar. Because it is locked together with the force from the bottom collar it will thread the entire tube in and out of the mount. The same works in the opposite direction.
ive heard from a race shop you want to hand tighten the collar up to the bottom of the spring. install the coilover, and set the car down. measure how far down the shock travels, and use that measurement for preload. (if your car travels 1 inch then use 1 inch of preload). have you heard anything like this before?
Whats the maximum amount of height a person could safely adjust the "fork" or "knuckle". I've heard the full diameter of the tube your working with and also half of the tube diameter.

HELP. New edge mustang. A lot of coilovers come with legit front coilovers and for the rear it’s separate springs and struts. For the rear would I want to make my springs as high as I can? For better comfort. I’ve had mine installed for over a year now. When I first did it I did all my research to do it right. I was happy then but man the comfort part is catching up to me big time. Sucks to daily it. So should I raise springs then adjust struts to fit? Or what for comfort. Not gonna see track use again anytime soon
You don't adjust height from the bottom of the shock body you raise the bottom nut, measure then lower using the top most lock to spin the shock body down like a screw
So I have a problem the spring on my coilover are loose it makes a hard sound when I drive. I don’t think the guy preloaded them. So how can I do this if the shocks are on the car?
Ok so I find that whenever I hit a pothole or bump at high speed I get a rear finder rub only on the passenger side side I add preload or reduce preload?
Preload should be set with the vehicle ready to race on the ground. Manufacturer should specify what SAG range it should be driven at. Anyone knows what should be the SAG in a car for road/track use? 20-30%?

Can you tighten preload to get a stiffer ride. I’m putting in some coil overs and found reviews on the brand that they don’t seem to ride stiff enough. My first thought was they need to tighten pre load. This is my first journey into coil overs and building a weekend fun car/moderate track car
the pre-load does not make a difference in how smooth or hard it will feel. It simply connects the spring and shock together so they can function as a whole unit. If pre-load is not done correctly, you will here popping and other noises when it is extended too much. I hope that makes sense.

just un-bolt the bottom from the LCA and adjust accordingly up or down. The coilover will not fall out, because it is connected to the car with the top mount.
Well 4-5 mm is for 200mm spring then you can assume that 150 would be 3-4 mm since 200 divided by 4 is 50 meaning that every 50 mm you gain you add a mm and if you havw on 50 mm shorter you subtract a mm

just un-bolt the bottom from the LCA and adjust accordingly up or down. The coilover will not fall out, because it is connected to the car with the top mount.

if you compress the spring to lower the vehicle, you lose suspension travel and performance. I do not recommend it.
