UPDATED video for DaVinci Resolve 18: ua-cam.com/video/UJg0-4DujXU/v-deo.html
I was going to cry out with frustration. You have no idea how grateful I am that you created this video. Thank you much Jason you're amazing!💓💓💓
You’re welcome! I’m grateful to be able to help fellow DaVinci Resolve Users! 😁 glad you got it working! 😁👍
Here's one solution you didn't mention. Sometimes a setting will change under "Speakers". If you go into "Speakers" and check the properties you'll notice that the frequency has changed. In my case it read 44kHz. It has to be 48kHz. As soon as I changed that, I got audio from Resolve again. I found that solution buried in a long thread about this problem on BM's forum.
Awesome, thanks Duke! I Appreciate you sharing that, hopefully it helps out some people! 😁👍
This worked for me. Thank you so much Duke!
Thank you! This worked for me!
Where is that tab I can't find it?
but mine is showing only 44?., ha ha h
Thank you for parts 1 and 2 of these really helpful videos. It took a lot of work on your part to compile all those solutions. I have bluetooth headphones which would not play the sound output from Davinci Resolve 17. No problem with the laptop speakers. After trying all the options in your videos I finally got everything working again by restarting Davinci Resolve. I sure learnt a lot along the way though.
Awesome, glad you got it working! Thanks for watching and dropping a comment! Happy editing! 😜
Thank you. I had the issue of having multiple volume mixer and your 9:13 helped me change my audio mixer to the right one to be able to hear Davinci Resolve from my headphones.
Awesome! Glad you got it working! 😁👍
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I ended up watching part 1 first and then coming here. What worked for me was changing the preferences, and setting it to my headphones manually. What was odd was that It didn't work at first, even after closing davinci and restarting it (as it advised me to)...So for those who might have run into this issue when changing the preferences, try again and it may work! ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Nice, glad you got it working! Thanks for sharing!
Ever since I downloaded davinci 17 on windows 10 this has happened to me everytime I disconect the headphones. If i want to get audio out of the headphones I have to manually select them & restart davinci 3 times. It is better for me to never unplug them from my jack to avoid this issue. It worked perfectly on 16, and still works perfectly on every other program. Davinci gotta fix this asap. Laptop is new & so are the headphones, i reverted back to 16 & the issues went away
@@MexicanGhost2013 Agreed! They definitely need to address this. I've never had issues with my headphones, so when I opened up my current project on resolve, I was confused as to why no audio was coming through. I'm glad you found a fix, fortunately it's still working for me, but If i need to, reverting back 16 may be a good idea, thank you.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. So weird why this issue popped up with DR17. Hopefully BMD fixes it in the next update.
omg thank u sooo much
This is very comprehensive and helpful. Thanks a lot.
You’re welcome!
In my situation I discovered that it was a red border around A1 that somehow got clicked off. I was going crazy and checked the audio of the video on the computer. It is so nice of you to share all of these tips!
Glad you got it!
Thank you so much for posting this, so helpful, it solved 2 different problems I had. You saved me hours of time!
Awesome! 😁👍
Thanks! I spent a ton of time and setting the prefences to manual and assigning them (10:04) worked for me.
Awesome, glad you found one that worked. Thanks for sharing your fix, best of luck on your project! 😁👍
YAY! This was super helpful! Ended up being "Patch Input/Output" settings in fairlight. My speakers somehow were unpatched. Might have been the driver update I did recently.
Nice! Glad you got it fixed! 😁👍
@@JasonYadlovski tysm, this was the same for me. earned a sub my guy!
Awesome! Thanks so much for the sub and happy to hear you got it working! 😁👍
Subscriber for life bro! Excellent troubleshooting solutions. Btw, your vids helped finish a film. Really grateful!
Awesome, thanks so much for the sub! I really appreciate it! Great to hear that my videos are helpful. 😁👍 thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for making this video. Helped me out GREATLY!
You’re welcome! Glad I could help!
Thank you for covering the Bluetooth headphone issue. When you talked about the Patch settings with the Bus 1 out, I checked it after turning on my Bluetooth headphones, I get no audio with the message audio output not found pops up and continues to pop up. I checked the Patch settings and found in the audio destination under audio output, It is blank with no box options under it. I restarted DaVinci and the Bluetooth headphones work perfectly (as they always have if you start DaVinci with them already paired to the PC). I checked the patch settings and the headphones are present. Not sure why it is like that but the restart is all that works for now.
As always you have excellent content that helps a lot. Thank you for sharing your knowledge as it definitely helps me learn this program.
Hey Malcolm - Thanks for sharing your experience! It’s helpful for me as well as other people. Whatever reason it seems like whatever is available when DaVinci opens is all you can use and if something gets disconnected or changed I can’t see it without a restart. Very strange but hopefully make make an update to fix it at some point. Thanks so much for watching and have a great day!
Thank you so much! This was incredibly helpful. It would have taken me forever to figure that out on my own.
You’re welcome! Glad the video was helpful, thanks so much for watching!
Thank you for covering all possible solutions! I was so frustrated when I first updated to the 17th version. After watching this Part 2 video, it finally works with the Patching! Thank you so much
Awesome, you’re welcome! Glad you found a fix and got it working now. Thank you for watching! 😁👍
@@JasonYadlovski how to patch audio?
Hi! You have to go to the patch settings, I don’t have a video specifically on just that but I do have a video all of our buses where I talk about and show how to patch things. Here’s the video
ua-cam.com/video/RIO31k-vdoo/v-deo.html
Im still frustrated - cannot get anything to work. Will look for another program to use. :(
7:07 This worked for me! 👍 I don't know why everything suddenly got messed up, but... thank you!
Nice! Glad you got it working!
same thnx!!
This is what ended up working for me as well!!!! Thank you. My guess is that I use an external audio device for recording mics, etc which probably altered my settings somehow.
For anyone in the future who STILL isn't getting sound, this worked for me:
(Keep Resolve open in the background)
On Windows 11: 'Settings' > 'System' > 'Sound'> scroll down to 'Volume Mixer'> under Apps, next to the Resolve icon, press the little mute icon next to the volume bar.
Nice! Thanks for sharing!
this was it for me. thank you!
BRO THANK YOU!!!!I WATCHED TRILLIONS VIDEOS AND ALL I NEEDED WAS TO READ YOUR COMMENT!
Nice!!!! It was the Patch input/output that did it for me. You're a life saver my good man.
Awesome, glad you figured it out! 👍😁
The preferences tab fixed my Bluetooth headphones. Much love man keep up the good work🔥❤️
Awesome! Glad you got it working! 😁👍
I can't believe I spent hours on this and all I had to do was create a new audio track. What an absurd glitch. At least it works now. Thanks for the video.
Sorry it took hours, that's a pain! But I'm glad it was an easy fix for you. Best of luck on your project!
same for me after trying every thing
omg it was the patch settings. this was KILLING me so THANK YOUUU

Super helpful man, thanks for making this
You’re welcome! Glad it was helpful!
What a minefield to navigate. I finally found my fix at 9:30 along the timeline. Thanks for all your effort !
You’re welcome! I agree, there’s just so many different reasons that you might not be getting audio, it’s hard to know which problem it might be. There are even many more fixes that people commented with that worked for them that I did not mention in the video. Hopefully all together it helps everybody figure out their issues with the audio not working. Thanks for watching!
@@JasonYadlovski Agreed. I guess it is a problem of 'version upgrades' as mine worked perfectly on version 15 and 16.
Yea, back again, same problem and same fix @9:30". Where would I be without this fixer !
Awesome, glad it worked again!
yessss you saved me it was the " AUDIO Input / Output Settings in Resolve "
Nice! That’s the most common fix from all the people I’ve heard from. 😁👍
@@JasonYadlovski yeah i almost gave up right before that chapter lol im switching from final cut to da Vinchi and was about to go back. but thanks!
the Patch Outputs helped fix my problem (6:38). Thanks Jason for linking pt.2 in pt.1 or I never would've seen this and fixed my issue. MUCH appreciated.
😁👍
Fixed it! All of a sudden, no audio, setting to manual in preferences worked a treat. Thankyou so much!
Nice, glad you got it fixed! 😁👍
I'm so jealous by comments, why it's not working for me 😭
Are you using headphones? If you are, try using just the computer speakers. Keep in mind when you adjust some of the settings and preferences you may need to restart the program. Are the meters moving?
@@JasonYadlovski my meters arent moving but there are waves
Is the meter on the track with your audio moving? That should at least be moving. 🤔
@@JasonYadlovski Hey, this is my last hope before i give up. I just lost hours worth of audio after editing some of the footage. It shows the track still there, but it says it's muted and for some reason i cannot unmute it
this program is killing me
please help
Hi! Sorry to hear you’re having troubles, I know it could be very frustrating. So here’s the things I would check, first check to make sure the track is not muted directly below the track name. Next check the Davinci Resolve itself is not muted, if you’re in the other tab it should be a little speaker icon directly under the viewer. Next I would select the clip and open the inspector and make sure the volume is up and it’s not muted there. Also double check your bus one or your main output to make sure that’s not muted. If it seems like the program is acting strange, save it close it and open it again. If it’s still not working and you have your back ups enabled, reload back up. I’ve got videos on how to do that if you need to.
Those are things that start with, hopefully you figured it out already but if not maybe this will help. Best of luck, feel free to drop another comment if you need some more help.
Came here by the notification 😀
Let's sit and enjoy the vid now!😎
😜Hope you enjoy it!
@@JasonYadlovski Yes sir 😁
So hype for part 3!! 😁👍
I hope you’re able to find the fix for you!
Thank you! This was extremely helpful. You've earnt a like!
Awesome thanks so much for the like! Glad the video was helpful.
For me, the problem is almost always related to bluetooth headphones. Every time they connect, Davinci recognises them as something unique and thusly assigns no audio output to them. There are 100 other problems created by the use of bluetooth with Davinci that I'm surprised they haven't stated it's non compatible.
I agree, I would not recommend using Bluetooth headphones w/ Resolve.
@@JasonYadlovski I have a question. I tried everything possible to make the audio work. But it still doesnt work. when i go to fairlight and try to play the audio, it doesnt play. And when i play the media the meters dont move and there is no sound. I would be very grateful if you could help me with my problem.
@@AndrewOnWish Same here
I’d try going right clicking a clip, choose clip attributes, go to the audio tab and make sure the channels are not muted.
I don't know what to do, when I drag in a clip that I know has audio da vinic, just decides that it doesn't even want to show me the green bar where the audio is. please help I've been trying to fix this for like 3 days. help I'm losing my sanity. when I look in the fear light tab the fear light doesn't even recognize there being any audio. HELP ME!
What format is the audio in? Is the sample rate of the clip the same as the project in resolve?
@@JasonYadlovski I got it to work but still thanks for the video :)

Such a great video man. Well done going through all the options. Thank you. My speakers were not listed in the "Check patch settings" section of your video. So I went to preferences - system - video/audio and under the input/output device I clicked the dropdown menu and selected my bluetooth speakers. Audio was back on.

Hello Jason, I wanted to say thank you for the help. After re-installing/updating to DR 17.2.2 I came across the audio bug with no sound bars and Fairlight wouldn't play at all. Several of the options you suggested fixed this issue and I can now edit videos finally. It appears the Patching Input/Output and Creating/Moving to a New Audio Track fixed the issue for me. I've fixed this problem before courtesy of your video and it happened again and I've come back to rewatch and refix. It was the issue with the speakers not being selected in audio preferences in Davinci, it had selected digital out instead of analog on a Windows machine. Thanks for the detailed video and instructions, it was extremely helpful.

I was not getting sound to my PC speakers but in the Preferences menu; under Video and Audio I/O; Monitor Speaker Configuration; I noticed "left" and "Right" were saying "unassigned". I selected the speaker/software my PC uses and all is good now. I figured this out when you got to the point in your video for tips on fixing headphones, so I credit your video for helping me fix this annoying issue. Thanks for the great video.
Great! Glad you got it working! Thanks for sharing your fix. 👍
OMG. I have been so frustrated with trying to get audio to work in Davinci Resolve and you have just solved the issue for me. Thanks you so much. Having spend 2 days struggling to get the audio out to work I can at last start to use the system. Thanks you.😀
Great!
ok thanks very much you have given me some ideas to try. I use a Steinberg URM28 audio interface I think like the Scarlet Interface you mentioned it runs on ASIO which is usually for the VST Plugin and ultra low latency drivers, so musicians have no or very little latency whilst performing. I dont want to change my interface as I have a finely tuned DAW using it with hosts of set up plugins but using Da Vinci Resolve 17 has given me no end of audio glitches I have been through all my buffer and other settings to no avail. I now think a workaround you mentioned might be bluetooth earbuds. I wonder if DR 18 has 'resolved' this issue yet? I am currently working on a large project, so taking your advice I will finish that first before installing DR18. I don't see from their text whether or not DR 18 has fixed the audio issues? Would anyone know? Many thanks again for you great videos!!
Thanks! I'm not sure if they fixed the audio issues. I've never had any problems, but I know a lot of people on PCs do. I've never had any problems on the PC I use occasionally either, so it's hard for me to tell if the problems were fixed.
Patch Settings helped me, thank you :)

Hey there Jason! Thanks for the tutorial on this, it fixed my audio issue again. The problem is that it seems to happen with each new project and I have to go through all these steps again and it's super frustrating. How do I make this a permanent fix? Travis
You can setup a new project setting preset and make it the default for every new project. Then all of your settings should be good to go. I do have some videos on that.
This is so cool, u helped me so much thankssssss
You’re welcome! 😁👍
Greetings Jason thank you for the knowledge! however I don't have the speaker setup option at all coming up and I have the latest version of Davinci. Any reason you could think of?
Also when i switch to ASIO under audio i/o i hear and see volume and sound bars moving but then my sound to any other app/internet the sound disappears, like davinci is the only app that can use sound/volume. i recently updated my intel graphics acceleration because i was getting that notification i was getting when i opened davinci and i noticed i have upgraded actions, buttons, commands, etc. however after that no audio on davinci yet i had it at first.
Interesting, have you found a fix for the issue?
@@JasonYadlovski No I even reached out to daVinci resolve support and they ask me a bunch of questions just to tell me that they only assist people with the paid versions lol What I’m picking up is that I just need a newer computer my computer was made in 2017 and even though everything is updated as it shouldn’t be having that issue

Great video! I am really thankful for helping me with your advice on headphones :´)
You’re welcome!
Thx a lot for your tips, Jason, at least helped me to now get out sound from DaVinci to my loudspeakers. Cool! But as soon as I´m adding a video (without tone), the sound starts to crackle heavily and I can´t find the reason for it. It´s a really powerful PC (Ryzen7, 32GB RAM, GeForce RTX, Win 10) and in all apps except DVR17 the sound through my Focusrite Saffire 6 USB is cool. Where does the cracling come from? I´m really desperated.
You're welcome! Thanks for checking out the video! So I had a similar problem, but I'm not sure if it's related to your problem. For me, I was getting some crackling in my headphones, but also in my mic when I was recording directly into Resolve. I found that my audio interface was getting some electrical interference from one of a few things - my cell phone was right next to it, It was close to a bunch of my computer wires, or the cord was laying on my monitor stand. I adjusted all those things and then it went away. That said, is it in the recordings in Resolve or could it be that something is causing interference with the headphones?
Another thing it could be is - does your sample rate in resolve match for the project and the audio clips? How about the sample rate of the headphones? I believe you can set that in Windows.
Hope one of these might help you out. If you have trouble still, feel free to reach out again. Best of luck!

Hey man, I have a problem and I can’t go on the forums because the activation won’t send to my email. I need help with my audio. Basically what happens is I download the video and there is no sound, weird, so I try again. After that, the same thing happens. I tried to change some things up (which I don’t know what I did) and I actually got some audio. It was from the music which was detached from the actual video and it’s audio, so it was only the music and not my voice AND music. I tried twice more and nothing changed. Been going at it for an hour now and need help. Thanks
omg THANK YOU! The patch through is what finally fixed it for me, maybe I had to re-do it after I set up Voicemeeter Potato? I recently started using that program to route all my audio through there and it's been a journey to get everything set correctly for it
Awesome, you’re welcome!
I GOT MINE TO WORK. Thanks you for the upload man! I tried every fix in the video, none worked for me but it did set me down the right path!
If anyone is interested in what worked for me, I basically couldn't get ANY fix to work... then he mentioned seeing if the sound worked elsewhere. I'm on youtube in another window, so I know it is, but I wanted to see if *another project* on Resolve had audio. All my other projects had audio. If I opened the current project FIRST - NO AUDIO. If I opened another project first, instead, and then loaded the problem project in thereafter (through the same Resolve window/ instance that loaded with audio working, but with another project loaded before the problem project), voila - audio.
No idea why this worked, but I'm glad I didn't lose a night of work. Hope this helps some lost soul lol. I was at a total loss of what to do, save for reinstalling =(
Awesome glad you got it working! Thanks for sharing your fix! 😁👍
