I'm in the process of finishing a 35x60 and came across your video. Really helpful. Your comment about not paying until the job is done really resonantes with me, you cut these huge "material deposits" and sit around sweating for weeks waiting for the job to happen. Had my slab poured last week so I only have walls, electric, insulation and HVAC remaining so I'll be using your stuff as a guide. Thanks!
Great video and thanks for all the info. We are building a 40x60, just signed the contract Monday. I agree with your thinking, we have worked hard all our life and time to enjoy it........................you never know what tomorrow will bring.
Beautiful pole barn, your attention to detail and forethought is impressive. Clearly you thought a lot about what you wanted. I appreciate your perspective on contractors and not paying upfront. I agree, it keeps them motivated to get the job done as quickly as possible.
It's beautiful even unfinished. Like the fence around the pole barn and the garage doors too. It looks like a project that will be easy to proceed with and not like a chaotic project bugged down in quagmire and shit.
Nice barn! I'm using the same high bay's in my 30 x 50, I really like them. I'm perplexed that your electricians ran MC everywhere. It would have been much cleaner and cheaper to run 3/4" - 1" EMT. They could run 15 20amp circuits through one 1" EMT run. Not being critical, just an observation. EMT allows for future proofing. If you leave a little room in the EMT runs, it makes adding circuits down the road much more simple. Just something for others to think about who run across this later. Congrats on the barn though, those doors are awesome.
It’s a lot like work running MC and hanging lights. I used about 250 ft of 12/2 MC for my 26x40x14 metal building to wire 4 UFO highbays (2 per switch) and 5 outlets. Next is wiring 3 exterior lights which will take about 80 ft of MC. I did hire an electrician to install an 100 amp panel in the builng an a couple of 50/20 RV plugs and a 20 exterior plug. I will be at about $8,000 for electrical when I am done.
Just ran across your site as I was doing research. I’m sure it’s not relevant to today’s prices but how much was the foundation and wring? It’s beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching. The complete electrical was 25k. For the foundation I brought in 19 loads of crusher run and brought the pad to grade. If I remember correctly it was a 80 yards of mix. Total cost for the foundation was roughly 24k. I could not imagine what this build would cost today. Kinda funny, I used to get roasted in the comment with people telling me I should wait to build because of the prices. I am so happy I didn’t wait. This build would probably cost 100k more in today’s “booming economy.”
How did they attach the outside sconces ? It’s not attached to wood ? Is it screwed in through the sheet metal ? Having issues trying to figure out how I am going to do it .
I'd like to see how they secured the boxes for ther exterior outlets. I need to add a couple on my building. Ours was built without exterior sheathing, so I'm sure the boxes need more support than just being screwed to the steel siding alone.
Looks like they used 2x4 backers behind the sheeting wall where the cutoff switches are located for the condensers. I am gonna copy that idea. I noticed they used "renovation" type boxes that have the tabs that usually clamp down on drywall holding the octagon blue boxes for the outside lights.
Great series, appreciate the info. I am GCing my build of a new house, with a 40 X 40 over-sized detached garage. Really like your garage doors. Can you tell me where you ordered them?
the only thing I would not have done is put a garage door on each end of the building. it will make it a tunnel where you can't put anything in the middle I would have put a long work bench across the back wall instead. later you will hate the door on the back.
I designed the shop this way so I can open both doors and pull my trailer straight in and unload my race car then pull right out and around the back. I get what you are saying about possibly wasting space but it works perfect for my needs.
@@Twelve20Inc. Thanks, I ended up getting lucky and we were able to use the old conduit to pull a larger wire and I was able to get 150 amps off the house so no second meter.
Thank you for doing these videos. Starting a 40x60 myself in mountains of northern Nevada. What did you use/plan for insulation and condensation control?
The ceiling will have blown in R38 insulation. I believe I’ve decided to spray insulate the walls before we install the metal. I will need to vent the roof as well. Good luck with your build!
Where are you located? I thought that I heard you say you were in middle Tennesee.?. I’m planning a similar build north of Cookeville, TN and would really appreciate some of your builder contacts.
I am in Lascassas. All the subs I used are based out of Gallatin, Portland and Murfreesboro. I would be happy to share information. You are also more then welcome to come look at my shop. Do you have a email I can reply to or do you know how to private message thru UA-cam?

Awesome video. I'll be running electricity in my 40x60 this spring/summer. It'll be a fun project. Thanks for sharing. Looks great.
Beautiful building brother, we are building our house now. Going back and forth on a 30x50 or a 30x40 pole barn. Enjoy the content !
Good luck with your build. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have once you get to your barn.
Great looking building! I think all the electrical is great
Great job on all 4 . Great help as well. We are looking in northern Oklahoma as a place to retire.

Were those pick lights 4 or 6 inches? Looking to add some to my barn just wanted to compare.
Extremely helpful video
really nice build i just subscribed
Crazy build. Leave the glass out of the bottom row on the shop doors it has to do with the shock & vibration when contacting the concrete.
Noted. Makes sense.

Love the doors...
Thanks. The doors took it to another level of residential shop.
That is one nice shop!
Thank you! It’s slowly coming together.
Is the building house wrapped for insulation in the future? Or is the white on the inside walls the back of the steel siding?

Did Mid TN make you have a conduit or did they trench and install the conduit for the wire?
They stabbed the meter and pulled the wire. I had to take care of the rest.

How might light it going to take to in the pole barn
Nice looking pole barn. Can you tell me what brand and style of overhead doors you went with? It appears to be insulated glass, is that correct?
The doors came with the building package. I’ve had many people ask about them so I will work on the manufacture info and specs. Thanks for watching!
Why not solar energy and why not cover all ceilings it looks great and awesome job !!! I like to get your budget
Solar just never crossed my mind. I will do a full budget breakdown video when it’s all done. Thanks for watching.
What brand glass garage doors are those? Where did you get them?
How much to in close with that siding without the roof ?
Super nice barn. Did you do the design or did rough in contractor do that?
Thank you sir! I had a design of what I wanted in my head and the contractor took my ideas and made it happen.
Who did you get the pole barn kit from
Great Barn!!! Where did you source those glass garage doors? Was that a big box buy? What brand are they?
The doors came with the barn building package. I’ll see if I can find out any details on them. Thanks for watching.
@@Twelve20Inc. from where did you buy the kit ?
