Great video as always, but what is really great is the acknowledgement from TFL Mayor of London etc that they recognise the importance of UA-camrs and take time be interviewed/ chat as this video will probably be seen by more people than news reports especially outside of the UK especially as Mayor said to encourage tourists back to the capital. Well done Geoff.

As an Aussie who happened to spend forty years in London before retiring back to Oz I found myself tearing up with nostalgia for the "old days" when watching this joyful video. London is still my favourite city. I lived in Ealing, so the Victoria Line would have been a great bonus if I still lived there. Don't get me wrong, I love being back in Oz. You can't have it all!

@@marcelwiszowaty1751 Thanks, Marcel. My mistake! Out of interest, the house I bought back in 1970 for 18,000 pounds has recently been sold for well over two and a quarter million pounds. I wouldn't have a cat's chance in hell of returning to my former life, even if I wanted to. It would have to be a studio flat somewhere. Such is life!

My family moved into a new house (in the same village) in 1970... it was a three bedroom bungalow on a corner plot, and cost £5,750. Fast forward to two years ago and after my Mum died the house went for £360K! Incidentally a female friend from Coventry (where I live) popped up on Facebook a couple of years ago. We'd lost touch a good few years ago and I'd assumed she and her husband had moved house. So I casually enquired as to where they were living... "Sydney", came the reply! I've wanted to visit Australia for many years and now I might actually do it (and visit some lovely old friends whilst I'm there) 🙂

Although it is of course different from the UK, it will still be very familiar to you, as we have inherited much of your culture. During the time I lived in London, as you might imagine, we had frequent family and friends visiting over the years, so had the best of both worlds. I was interested that you caught up with your friend on Facebook. The world has shrunk so much with modern technology. I occasionally chat with my UK friends on Skype, and of course exchange frequent emails, so can keep in touch very easily. I also Google a site called Wanderizm which features walks, bus rides, tube trips and so on, so keep in touch with the visual changes that have occurred since I left the UK. Life's good!
@@williamstringer6519 Great stuff, William! It might sound partisan but I too refer to London, although many others run a close second. At one time I would have cited NYC, and it's still right up there, but now Berlin gives it a good run for its money. I visited more recently about three years ago to see the changes since the wall came down... my previous visit was only months after that event when the "no man's land" was still very much a wasteland. In fact I love Germany generally and have more recently travelled to Hamburg (a revelation), Cologne and Munich. I'm currently on a quest to visit as many European capitals and major cities as possible. I was in Amsterdam only last week and a few weeks before that the Iberian trio of Barcelona, Madrid and Lisbon. However back to Australia and I know I'd love it... Sydney has such a great setting, doesn't it, with two iconic structures, recognisable worldwide. Then of course there's Melbourne, Sydney's great cultural rival... one of my cousins lived there for about twenty years (he's now in southern France) All things being well I'll get there within the next few years, most likely after I retire in four. So thanks for your thoughts and information... I'm always happy to chat about foreign travel... and I have a lot of catching up to do!
I'm always caught in a quandary. On the one hand I am not a train enthusiast, but you and all your friends just draw me into this world. Maybe I just like watching people who love their hobbies and make me smile 😍

I remember hearing about the Elizabeth Line back in 2018 (when I was in London for the summer), then hearing about all the delays pushing it back and back. Good to see an enthusiastic assortment of people show up for this occasion!

Aside from the wonderful suit and James Bond shenanigans, it's great that you have the day documented. Future generations are going to be able to look back at this video in years to come and see in glorious detail what happened on the opening day, the first train etc.
Missed opportunity to have another person in the shot at 15:15 - not only does it make it symmetrical but also because then 007 people would be in shot...!
Also, for those who didn't get the winning T-shirt joke, Inspector Sands is a code on UK railways for PAs to alert staff to a fire alarm without needing to evacuate the station (eg Would Inspector Sands please report to Platform B), and here it's combined with the Bond villain organisation and film title Spectre. Genius stuff.

Right first off that Outro is how most trainspotters feel when they go out to do trains! (Well that's how i feel anyway). This was epic from start to finish and it was awesome to see members of the railway community and from TfL on the station celebrating it's opening!

Hi Geoff, All I can say is absolutely brilliant I love the Bond feel to this…..the final part of this chapter is the opening of Shenfield in Essex which will complete the last Elizabeth Line Station to open which I believe is 6th November! 😊

Wow! A truly professional production. They keep on getting better. This could’ve been a relatively mundane story, compared to the rest of the line opening, but this is anything but mundane.
