Turkei I saw him live at least 7 times between 2002-2005. Those were great times! He also put on a great show but he was famous for playing the same song twice during long sets (6 hours or more)
Your not the only one. Back then rave, club and DJ culture once meant something. When they stick in touch with there underground turntablist roots. Make it all great again from mid 1980's - mid 2000's!

Legend. I was born in 76, and being a US citizen, I often tried to imagine what it would be like growing up in post WWII/Cold War Germany, where my literal luck of the draw geographic location determined what I could and could not watch, wear, and/or listen to. I could not wrap my mind around my govt attempting to dictate my wardrobe and my musical tastes. Watching the Berlin Wall come down on live TV was mind boggling at the time. Thanks to Paul Van Dyk and many citizens like him who defied reality to give us such wonderful music and masterful skills.

because they all use crappy pioneer cd players instead of direct drive Technics , no skill involved anymore the mixers are so advanced you cant miss match a record as they self adjust with beatmatch pitch timing etc , why they had to fuck with something that wasnt broken is beyond me , its as bad as seening djs bring there laptops and hit play or have there set on a usb stick, well done pioneeer for introducing that trick its made all the last decade of djs lazy and not care about there music enough to go down the root of get there tunes played on the daytime radio shows EDM =sucks ballzs!
the time i saw that asian dj running around jumping around , stage diving and throwing cake at people WHILE his set ran- i knew it was over...and this new thing where they bring live signers on stage ? omg smh

Would give anything to go relive those golden years, the sense of discovery of all this wonderful and fascinating electronic music was unparalleled (I jumped on the boat in 2001, when I was 18 years old, though I know you can trace its origins back to 1994 or so)

2004 the year I partied to van dyk at Club Freedom on apache blvd, now place is a convenience store lot. If they reopened club same place could probably be a revival success. Good times.

Hes just mixing vinyl how all DJs used to do it, and should do it today too. Its DISC jockey. Not PC-jockey. Its practical, not digital. Analog. Empirical. Demonstrable. No such thing as digital beat matchers and traktor for DJ beatmatching in these days 90s and early 00s. We just did it all by ear. Thats why real DJs mix vinyl. Everyone else using beat sync, digi decks, and usb are imposters pretending to do what we did. Its disrespectful the stuff going on today with all these people buying gear and doing their cheap impression of us to make money. Calling themselves DJs. It wasn't easy getting headline sets, you had to be good. Talented. In every way, beat selection, the discipline gained from long hours of hunting vinyl in record barns, crowd discernment and true skills on the turntables. And many of us got breaks through winning DJ comps and impressing promoters at after party sets. WITH SKILL. Its not even a thing today. Its a cheap replica. All they need now to counterfeit what we did, is $$$. Money. Then they just log onto Beatport, press a few buttons, then pretend to be a DJ by basically just playing music. Xero skill involved compared to vinyl. Its not in any way whatsoever the same thing. Anyway. Have fun whatever you do. Take care mate

Didn't realise how quick the BPM was until Ridgewalkers - Find played! You can tell he is using Traktor there to maintain the pitch but increase the tempo. Good job
Hes just mixing vinyl how all DJs used to do it, and should do it today too. Its DISC jockey. Not PC-jockey. Its practical, not digital. Analog. Empirical. Demonstrable.
No such thing as digital beat matchers and traktor for DJ beatmatching in these days 90s and early 00s. We just did it all by ear. Thats why real DJs mix vinyl. Everyone else using beat sync, digi decks, and usb are imposters pretending to do what we did. Its disrespectful the stuff going on today with all these people buying gear and doing their cheap impression of us to make money. Calling themselves DJs.
It wasn't easy getting headline sets, you had to be good. Talented. In every way, beat selection, the discipline gained from long hours of hunting vinyl in record barns, crowd discernment and true skills on the turntables. And many of us got breaks through winning DJ comps and impressing promoters at after party sets. WITH SKILL.
Its not even a thing today. Its a cheap replica. All they need now to counterfeit what we did, is $$$. Money. Then they just log onto Beatport, press a few buttons, then pretend to be a DJ by basically just playing music. Xero skill involved compared to vinyl. Its not in any way whatsoever the same thing.
