After my first cd i bought in 2001 (AvB - 001 A State of Trance) i felt like (holy shit) what is this. A few tracks of that album did let me get goosebump all over my arms. Since then i bought 002, 003, 004 and other titles. My all time favourites are Communication and Shivers. In my opinion 2 of his best tracks ever made !!! AvB is still one hell of a DJ. ASOT radio 900 just past by, its now up to 1000 !!!!
This such a Sublime Tune..its got all the ingredients...lovely piano..lovely breakdown..And an epic Crescendo that just does what a good trance track should do...move you..physically and emotionally
What a sensational track. I watched an interview with van Buuren recently where he talks about how trance as a genre was still pretty loose at the time, not many big hits were out. Yeah, Armin, because YOU HADN'T WRITTEN THEM YET. All-time greatness.
We need Part 4 - cmon Armin - haha - actually he claimed that he’s done telling the communication story already. But I think there needs to be a return just for his oldest fans (like me). Been listening to Armin for a VERY long time (1998). Part 2 is my fav too but it hardly gets played in sets these days.
@ there is plenty of stuff to work with that wouldn’t need Benno’s help - it’s true there is a lot of EDM stuff today but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t know how to produce the “old” type of trance - in fact he has some recent tracks like What Took You So Long that clearly shows he can throwback.

I can easily point to more recent Rising Star tracks or even some under his actual name that are quite well produced. Edit: Also if you listen carefully to that earlier track I mentioned you will hear what many people hear - that is, elements that were often used in the early aughts. Sure, it isn’t exactly the same as the feeling you would get when listening to a track like Burned with Desire or Sail, but he does occasionally produce more “pure” trance tracks - and they don’t sound cheaply produced.

I actually used to work for Airwave, Yoogie van Bellen too whom Armin has collaborated and played retrospectively. There was a lot of proper stuff back then. Part 3 is really similar to part 1 but with less bass and background, and a simple beat. Want to love it but i think Part 1 is better in everything. Part 2 is really fresh, love it.
Part 1 is the best, and part 2 adds a twist to the chords, which is pretty refreshing to listen to. Part 3 removed the funky bass, which makes me think its missing something.
