You might only have a few subs, but that was EXACTLY the question I needed answered. Bought a pistol lower build kit from strike industries for a build but ended up changing the build from a pistol to a 16in rifle. Figured I'd simply use the pistol buffer anyway and modify later. Great Video my Friend, it’s so nice to see Families out shooting together and action targets always help rather than just popping holes in paper. I also ask myself A LOT of my own questions lol. I’ve always wondered if the Pistols needed more or less spring than the Carbines. Stay safe my Friend Semper Fidelis
Very awesome video I was looking for a video like this and I'm glad I came across your video was very in-depth because I was wondering the same exact thing but they only thing I am wondering is if I could take my buffer spring from my AR pistol and put it in my AR-15 stock kit that I bought because the buffer weight and buffer spring on my AR-15 kit the buffer spring in the buffer when you put the buffer wait inside the buffer spring is real loose and slide right in and out with no problems so that's why I was wondering if I couldn't use my buffer spring and buffer weight from my AR pistol buffer stocking if they would be the exact same thing because all I did was put a longer flash hider onto my AR pistol to make it a full-length 16 inch AR rifle hope you understand what I mean anyway keep up the awesome videos if you're still making them I just subscribed to your channel
Yano i questioned the whole difference in the buffers and springs myself? From what I have seen most of the difference in in the springs. But in any case after buying a buffer kit i went with a CMMG radial delayed blowback combo barrel/BCG for a .45ACP carbine as i live in a blue state and minimum length is 16" for a rifle. We are not allowed to make our own "others" here. They cant be called AR pistols but "others". We have to buy the complete firearm from the manufacturer or store and keep it in that configuration. Its gota be 26" overall when fully collapsed and a 10.5" to 12.5" barrel, and a few other specs are a must for these "other" firearms to be sold in New Jersey. So i went with a 16" carbine. with a dedicated lower! its gonna be awesome! lol
I have been told many different things since this video the one that makes the most sense to me as being a way for water to get out, I guess if you were the type to submerge your rifle? However my fixed stock rifle uses a different “a2 style” buffer tube.
@@comanchejoearmory1279 I’m kinda agreeing with the water drain theory, it Makes perfect sense. I just changed my wife’s blade Style CommieFornia fixed stock out for a Hogue adjustable stock and had to change the buffer tube also since the OG (original) one was a round buffer tube. The stock was captured from a perpendicular “set/locking” screw on the bottom side of the tube into some small divots to adjust your length of pull. And nothing in the end hole. The only reason I had commented that was because I saw it in a video on what I think was an M-16. Not positive what i was watching. Im thinking maybe there are some variations. I mean AR , am I right?! Funny story. I heard James on TFB -TV @ YT comment how there are so many AR options they will make a “Green Egg Grill” for it. I ordered a hobby grade doll house grill and epoxied it to a micro red dot pic rail adapter. Lol. Yup. There is one.
So basically brother, I have a 10.5" "Carbine Length", so when I'm going online to order my buffer tube, I'd best just find one that says "Carbine Buffer Tube" and not "Pistol Buffer"
The KAK Industries Shockwave in my video requires a pistol buffer tube but the Shockwave 2M fits a standard carbine buffer tube. Also some of the Braces from SB Tactical fit a standard carbine buffer tube. The SB Tactical stuff looks a lot nicer to shoot but I like the look of the Shockwave and it’s way cheaper and I am very cheap. Anyway here are some links to braces that fit standard carbine buffer tubes. www.primaryarms.com/shockwave-blade-2m-pistol-stabilizer-black www.primaryarms.com/sb-tactical-sba4-pistol-stabilizing-brace-black www.primaryarms.com/sb-tactical-sba4-pistol-stabilizing-brace-black
@@tylercerda8444 I see - I was just asking because if you wanted to use one on a 16” barrel with a weaker cartridge (like 22WM) and just needed a weaker buffer to do the conversion then it would make sense to have it setup that way. I don’t get why they wouldn’t sell stocks that fit those tubes but I guess their dimensions are virtually the same as the carbine tube. Just sucks when you don’t have a spare carbine tube sitting around and someone gives you a pistol tube you can’t really use lol
I just finished my 10.5’ with a carbine length gas system. I have a pistol buffer spring and buffer. I’m getting FTE & FTF issues. I may add I am running .223 in a barrel chambered for 5.56 NATO. Wondering if it’s the ammo.
Did you weigh your buffer? I bought my tube spring and buffer as a kit but the buffer was a standard carbine buffer(3 ounces). My 7.62x39 pistol was having a lot of problem feeding and ejecting and also had excessive recoil. So I replaced the buffer with a H3 buffer(5.4 ounces) and have had no problems since. A friend of mine recently put together a 5.56 pistol with a 7.5” barrel and bought an H3 buffer from the start and his also works well.
@@comanchejoearmory1279 I don’t know the weight, I don’t own a scale but it has 3 weights inside. I honestly think it could be the ammo. I need to shoot 5.56? Idk I ordered an Aero Precision carbine buffer & spring kit. Should arrive today.
Oh sorry I missed the part where you said it was a carbine length gas system. In that case you did what I would have done by ordering the carbine buffer and spring. Maybe your current parts are to heavy. It should run .223 fine.
I have the same type of build. From the start i had the spring and buffer weight from my carbine in the pistol and have had no issues. Jus finished my carbine build and it has my pistol buffer tube kit buffer spring(its a lil rusty from being in the garage, i never cleaned it when i installed) and weight. And the bolt will not stay open upon firing final round. Could be my gas block not being aligned but i think its got to be my spring. I shoot 223 out of my 5.56 pistol all the time and no issues.
@@alale923 that’s a head scratcher. If it cycles correctly you would think the bolt is going far enough back to hit the catch. Faulty bolt catch maybe?
Hey brother I'm famous too! Every time I fire up one of the dirt bikes the neighbors take their phones out so they can take pictures and call the police 😂🇺🇲
You should be using a rifle length buffer an tube + spring, you would get a lighter recoiling rifle which would most likely be more accurate you are using a 24in barrel
That sucks. I guess it depends on how determined you are to get it off. I would try putting it in the freezer and then try to take it off. If that doesn’t work the next thing would be to apply some heat to the receiver but I would be very careful when doing that.😬😬😬
Carbine buffer tube has rail for adjustable stock.....a pistol is not allowed to have an adjustable stock, so it does not have the rail. Regarding the weight of the buffers: Carbine is normally about 3.0 ounces. Since a pistol has much higher pressures, most of us will use a heavier (H1, H2, H3) buffer weight and an adjustable gas block to correct overgassing)
The real question is, is it legal? Placing a pistol buffer on a virgin lower with a barrel under 16" and over all length under 26" is a pistol. In the pistol configuration, with a barrel over 16" or overall length over 26" is a aow.? By placing a pistol lower on a rifle upper... I think that's a aow. Subject to taxes and fees. I just don't know anymore.
I’m definitely not a lawyer but to my under standing an AOW has to be able to be concealed. “The term "any other weapon" means any weapon or device capable of being concealed on the person...”- From the website of the government agency who’s name shall not be spoken. I would say an AR-15 with a rifle length upper (16” or longer) would not be concealable. Therefore it would be rifle. Also it mentions on the website that a rifle is “intended to be fired from the shoulder” but does not say specifically what needs to be stuffed into your shoulder. Also it was said at one time that shouldering a pistol brace basically made it a stock. So I would feel comfortable with a pistol brace on a rifle length upper. However this is my interpretation of the law and I could be very wrong. The only thing I can say with certainty is that if they want you they will get you and what’s good for one isn’t necessarily good for all. Thanks for the comment.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. You have answered my question on the difference between the two.

Unfortunately it’s not my yard no matter how much I wish it was.
Is it possible my FTF, and bolt not locking back issues are from a pistol spring in a carbine gas system?
Quick question would it run without regular stock and just carbine buffer ?
Just found your channel and subscribed
Thanks! Hopefully I can put some new content up soon.😮💨😮💨

If I order the PSA carbine length buffer does it come with the spring too? It doesn’t show it on there n there’s no reviews

I believe the hole in the end of the buffer tube is for a fixed stock. The end screw from the buttstock

If you put a pistol tube on a rifle - do they make any actual stocks that’ll affix to a smaller buffer tube?
A pistol tube accepts pistol braces , not stocks, they are just tiny stabilizing “stocks”tho

Negative if it's over 26 inches it's a felony

Naw, they shut that dumb shit down like last month. A pistol is a pistol is a pistol, as long as it has a brace.😅
So that is the only difference between the tubes, the rail? So it wont be an issue to put a carbine tube on a pistol?
