- Skoda Rapid Spaceback - not an estate, and not quite a hatchback. It's cheaper than Volkswagen Golf, but offers more space. Do you get a lot of bang for your buck? What's missing?

bought a skoda rapid spaceback 1.2 tsi 5 months ago, its a large enough car ( I'm 6 ft. 3inch ) so finding a cheap yet size able car for myself was paramount, the 1.2lt engine is lively and the turbo delivers its power perfectly on time and considering its size packs quite a punch all things considered, there's plenty room for myself in the drivers seat and plenty for a passenger sitting behind me, the car is a dream to drive, its quick around town and it looks nice.
my version has the panoramic roof, whilst it looks stunning really causes a lot of heat build up inside the car when sitting still ( in traffic jams or parked up on a hot day )
the air conditioning is one of the best I've ever had ice cool air almost instantly however there seems to be only one heating function regardless of where you set the dial it always seems to be very hot.
the 16 inch alloys look fabulous however having the larger rims seems to sacrifice handling, often especially in wet weather, there's a more than usual amount of grip loss, you can feel it but the car also has a warning light showing you this, personally I would change them to 15inch with fatter tires.
skoda promises 55mpgs.
however around town I get around 39.1 and 41.5 mpgs on the motor way I've had it up to 43.8 mpgs .
@Smixhy still have it still love it, new set of tires and breaks all round cost me 550 quid still only getting around 40 to 45 mpgs now but not the promised 55
I agreed its a brilliant car I have a 1.2tsi with over 100k on the.clock and run mint
Good job Marek ! I am from China, the car I ordered is 1.6L Petrol , with 110 Horse power .
I've meet a lot of polish people, let me tell you that you're english is very good, very :D
I love this car - Škoda Rapid Spaceback with this color!!
Perfekt review, thank you, the key lock is realy rubish, but allthrought I am buying it - simply good price. Thank you for the bugs you have find. Keep doing this.
1985 Toyota Camry had a green ring around the space for the ignition key...
What a great reviewer you are Marek. I feel as though I have driven the cars myself! Thank you.
Thanks for an honest review on it. The build quality and the rusty screw, eww :/
How many days ago was this car built? Or someone forgot to fit a missing a screw so they decided to put a rusty one out of their toolbox lol
The car was registered in November 2013, co it was out on the road for 3 months, when I filmed it (winter, bit still).
***** It's not about how much time it would take, it's about it appearing in the first place.
I don't understand this car. It's too expensive to fight its actual rivals (301, C-Elysée) and too low-class to fight the competition it wants to fight. Also Octavia is already fighting there. I'm really interested to see pricing on the new Fabia compared to this. I heard it should have the MQB platform, which probably means it's going to be more refined.
in slovenia basic 1.2 tsi is 9.990€ that is very good price
Twoja rada z jakim silnikiem brać, szybki? Co polecacie wielkie dzięki. Jaki szybki niezawodny, z jakim silnikiem.
Hi Mark I've got 1.2 ltr petrol 15 plate. Will I be ok for lpg conversion. Thanks in advance.
VW, why so many 1.2 tsi variants? I have the 77kw.
Super_Slav Some engines may be newer generations. You also have more choice in terms of performance, but fuel consumption and emissions remain relatively similar.
Where can I get that phone holder
Skoda.
***** I'll see what I can do.
Any chance of trying the Octavia Wagon 1.6 diesel 4x4 ?? !!
+Sale_Shark I have to say , I love that !!! Diesel , wagon ! 4*4
that rusty screw was a major turn off...
yeah looks like sloppy work
I think it has too much cheap plastic, and it's too much noise inside whilst driving on the motorway/autobahn. Had a much better experience with the new mazda 3 (2014). The price for the lower spec model Mazda is the same as for the Skoda Rapid Spaceback (at least here in Austria)
Well, here is Mazda 3 more expensive. In our case Mazda 3 costs 1,5 of Skoda Rapid. And Skoda is also better equipped.
I must say that the first version of Rapid was really horrible car, quality and hardplastic interior was really wrong. BUT I drive sometimes Rapid SB 2016 1.2 TSI 66kw and I can say - it is the another car. The interior is really prety (still hardplastic but much nicer) and price with good equipment is much less than for Golf, Focus, C4, Astra or P308 - in Czech rep...
How you find out KW of this car?
