+Augusto Undead Kick Ass came out right before super did and stole all the attention away from it. A lot of people didn't bother to see super because they saw kick ass and mistaked super for a rip off. It's a damn shame because super does it own thing.
note to those making comments: Kick-Ass is inspired by the Kick-Ass comic and graphic novel series. The only thing in Super based off any comics is the Jesus superhero who is based off an actual Christian crusader known as Bibleman. Asides from that it's mostly original material. What do people here think of other real-life based superhero films not based off a graphic novel, like Unbreakable?
Watched the film recently. It’s amazing James Gunn progressed to the MCU four years later with Guardians of the Galaxy Bringing Back his Brother Sean and Michael Rooker.
If it weren't for that vulgar tweet controversy I might have never heard about this movie. I enjoyed watching it as a dark comedy about an everyday guy who becomes a violent "superhero". But amongst the violence in it there's some real heart in it that really elevates it and which explains how he was able to get so much A-list talent on board for such a low budget film. Good to see that Gunnie has made it big with the GotG movies since Super
I wish I could go back in time and see this in theaters! That would be awesome, and I'm glad I don't see too many movies in theaters with my parents. Because this would have been an awkward one to explain lol They literally might have made us walk out. I already tricked them into watching Juno without telling them it was about a teen being pregnant. They would have never let me pick another film again if I made them watch this too lol They know I'm into weird movies, so they normally say nah we're good, go have fun watching one of your weird movies 🤣
