Skill number 8 is getting a maiden
And I can tell that one is impossible for you
Stop playing the game & go to gym
@@naythlamer_4279 do both
@@naythlamer_4279 I do both tho
I think getting a doll for adults does not count for getting a maiden right?
Just asking for a friend doing the Rani run
I actually did the zip glitch completely by accident once in the vulcano manor where you drop down a bunch of cages behind an imp statue. I wanted to get across the room but didn't figure out you had to drop down on the right of the entrance and kept looking around, raising and lowering my torch periodically. I was pretty shocked to suddendly be catapulted across the room to the loot I wanted and thought I had discovered some sort of invisible jump pad thingy until I started watching the first speedruns XD
No you didn’t

Getting that reverse backstep was definitely something I was confused on. Simple, informative, and very well constructed video. Thank you Sunlight.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I sometimes do it randomly while fighting someone.
@@SimplCup too bad they nerfed backstabs
@@granthefato340 did you mean backstab or backstep?
@@SimplCup backstabs, they are a lot harder to hit in pvp now so backstab fishing isnt as good as in ds3
The logic behind a reverse backstep is simply using the input buffer windows the game offers, much like in fighting games. In Elden Ring, actions can be queued during another action and the timing is generous imo. So for example, you can buffer 2handing your weapon at the end of a roll.
SaintRiot is an expert in back-stepping and weapon swapping. His videos are how I learned about them. Tried them myself, but I'm on keyboard and mouse, which make them about 1000 times harder. You can still perform weapons swaps, but I'm not sure on backsteps, you can do the incorrect version at least.
oof, yea that sounds rough
Is this a joke? You have to press spacebar, release it and hold down s. Thats all...... its much easier than on a controller, where you have to pull the whole distance.
Ah yes saint riot also known as straight sword Jesus
@@TheMehkey was about to say most techs in most games are easier on pc if mot because the inputs are easier then because you can rebind to easier inputs
I'd have been shocked if pc was harder
Why is it that PC players have to tell you they are on PC. Lol
Ironically out of all those that last one trick with flasks is most useful one for a regular player
You can also use the triggers to swap, it'll page up and down and pressing start will close the menu completely unlike spamming B or O
I like the honesty about the zip glitch. Others might use other methods to do it, but you where outright honest and I respect that. Subbed and liked!
I thought this video was going to be about performing ashes of war in real life. I was excited to see Waterfowl dance
Hahahah
So glad the ravioli step has survived for over ten years, glory be.
the reverse backstep, i noticed you were trying to explain how to press the button not simultaneously but right after the backstep input, in the FGC world we use the term "plink" which is describe in the wiki "Plinking is done by quickly pressing two or more buttons exactly one frame apart (in priority descending order). This can be done by rolling one's fingers across two button, almost hitting them simultaneously." probably a good way to describe how to do the reverse backstep!
the crouching reminds me of tekken wave dash
I really wanna see more FGC terminology in other games where it applies, because there are so many concepts and ideas that overlap and can be explained with a simple definition or by drawing a quick parallel. That and I'm just a fighting game nerd
You're excellent tops and thank you for all content! ✨✨
Thank you! :D
I once did an accidental ZIP during the Elden Beast fight. I don't honestly know what happened, it occured right after the fight loaded (so as the game was fading from black from the cutscene) I was just suddenly inside Elden Beast and had done like 2 damage to him (I assume kinda like I fell onto him). It was weird but I guess not impossible if I just had a crazy stroke of luck and made the inputs right as the fight started (I tend to mash the shield button while playing so it's not completely out of the question lol)
exact same thing happened to me, maybe leaving the transition cutscene and buffering some kind of move just happens to line up for a zip?
If you fire a ranged weapon after performing the Reverse Backstep does that count as a 360 No Scope?
And is it even possible?
These are the types of questions I like to see
minor correction @6:15, you can also get the elevator up in another way. very easy way actually, only takes some patience, just try to get invaded there, sometimes the invaders spawn below the lift, and they will activate it to reach you up there..... dunno if they patched this in the meantime, but this was what a lot of people did in the beginning
so glad to see you back with a new video, I've been a huge fan of all your content! Cheers mate!
I've found an easier to do the Reverse Backstep is to attack, then press backstep and move your joystick backwards. You have a MUCH bigger window in between backstepping and moving the joystick because the game buffers the backstep command before you move the joystick. It's very consistent.
Edit: I also wanted to add it becomes much easier to chain it as well with this technique.
I love the intros now. So well produced, great choice in music. Love it all!!!
A true reverse backstep is to do it after a attack and you have to learn when your weapon animation ends on each attack for each weapon and neutral reverse backstep is a lot harder when running so giving it a try in the future would be cool
You don't necessarily have to time the backstep with the end of the animation because you can buffer that part early, but I believe the directional input does have to be timed correctly to get the earliest possible reverse back step
Ey SunlightBlade! Small tip! when standing at a ledge you can cast Fortissax's Dragon bolts(2 bolts) or the Ancient Dragon version (single forked bolt) your bolt can miss the ledge you are standing on and keep going down (potentially indefinatly until it collides with a surface where it will then transition to the second part of the bolt / bolts with producing the AoEs) on unsuspecting foes below, note it might take time to learn how to cast both bolts of Fortissax without falling with the second bolt, but it is possible, great for defense at the top of a platform with a nearby ladder!
That sounds awesome 😆
my recommended area to pratice this is from the Prayer Room area at Halig Tree since there is plenty of verticality to use there.
@@SunlightBlade this also works with the blue dragon bolt, but i recommend the red ones since the blue one does not cover the area towards and beneath of you
Feels wild to see the Leyndell elevator skip evolve past me; I remember doing SO much math to get the exact timing right after 1.05 buggered it up. Now people have an entire new position and timing method, and I couldn't be prouder!
Iirc you can also have a friend invade you, parry them, and get the riposte as you're falling off the ledge (similar to the haligtree town skip). You should land just as the crit animation ends and take no damage.
I'm genuinely surprised how clear and useful all this information is. I really appreciated the hint about stepping forward after the parry to avoid the negative window during gear swaps, and the explanations for reverse backstep/quickstep helped me figure out what I was doing wrong. Well done.
Glad it was helpful, thanks for watching! :D
Only OGs remember sunlight blades reverse roll tutorial from ds1 where he recorded his Xbox controller to show hand placement and everything
The good old days 😁
ty for the tips!
on a side note, for some reason I really like your rewind edit at the end of the video :D
I love your videos so much dude, thank you for another absolute banger ❤
Dom! I didn’t know you existed outside the Roundtable. This is like seeing a teacher at the supermarket. You’re a real person?! Love the content from you and this channel as well. ❤
@@kristasimpson3139 haha thank you so much!! 😍
This was a dope video 🙏🏾 Great Techniques going on lol
Skill number five seems very convenient for anyone who has to deal with falling off from a high place on a regular basis.
Very interesting...
Heh.
Buffering back step during an animation then unlocking (if locked) and holding back (or sideways) on the stick is the way to preform the “reverse back step”. Very common tech in ds3 specifically.
Doing this without the animation bigger is not a reverse back step. When you press back step, pause, then flick the stick to change direction without a buffer makes it a ravioli step. This tech was used commonly in ds1 as you could not state during a backstep so you could do crazy trades, escapes, and set up backstabs in weird ways by chaining a couple of ravioli steps.
Really cool video idea! Excited to see what else you come up with before DLC PVP 🤞 😂
I love the presentation. Snappy editing in the intro, fun music, the works. However, I couldn't care less about the actual subject matter. XD
That said, the presentation (and my love of Elden Ring) has convinced me to check out your other videos. Kudos!
Great vid! 👍
About that last flask tip, the same bug occurs if the second flask you drink is empty, so you can give off the impression that you're out of healing flasks with an empty FP flask. And this works even while standing
Great video man!! Definitely trying all of these except the zip glitch!!
Great stuff! Can't wait to see your upcoming pvp hard swapping montage! :D
"your corpse will never even reach the ground" is such metal line out of context
Thank you for showing all your failures. It really shows how to do these techniques, and they're hilarious!
that last one is genuinely so good
you can switch the direction of a sprint attack when someone is in pursuit. good to catch them off gaurd. you could do this in ds1 as well
Didn’t know about the explosive lleyndell skip or the duck flasks. Very cool.
Nice editing man!
Smooth and silky video and topic, cheers from Germany 🎶✌
That technique that allows you to walk on air will be useful when facing those players that hide themselves on the columns of the starting zone.
The reverse back step was all the way back in ds1 which iirc it hadnt come back yet since but its so nice to catch people with it lol
Menu swapping is one of the coolest things I've ever learned. I will never forget the feeling when I first pulled off a wepaon + ring swap mid parry in PvP. It happened twice, never again kek. Well worth it though :)
For tip 3, I've been practicing this for the first time in Elden Ring. It was in DS3, but I never learned it there. My way of practicing reverse backstepping is more of a dance. Essentially, reverse backstepping back and forth repeatedly. I also mix-in side-to-side to get a feel for different directions of backstep. I found it helps me get a feel for the timing a bit better. It's not how you'll do it in combat scenarios, so it's really only helpful for getting the timing down.
Another way to wavedash that I use is to alternate between crouching and blocking (which forces you to stand) it seems like you regain stamina at the same rate and depending on when you time the attack you can use a crouch attack, any neutral attacks or a running attack which gives colossals access to a lot. So many cool skills here, there's always something new to learn with souls games, love to see it :D
I remember doing reverse backstep (not knowing the name of the technique) waaay back in DkS2 where I was just testing movement combos & attacks, and I accidentally discovered both how cool it looked, and how useful it might be in actual combat.
I never read anything about the game's tips & tricks, or advanced movement mechanics, because I simply wasn't interested in anything but its lore, so while I most certainly used reverse backstep to my advantage many many times back then (even in PvP... ah, good old duel times on Iron Bridge) - but I learned how it's actually called just now, watching your video.
I suppose this is my TIL moment, haha.
Love the music choice at the beginning wish more people used licensed music
Thanks :D thought I'd try something new
Game's been out for months and people still calling it Atlus instead of Altus.
😆
I wish game developers wouldn’t patch cool things like these, especially since it probably took some time to find them. I hope the speed runners can find new ways :)
At the end of the day, it just nice to see Sunlight Blade again!
If you ever do a part 2 id love to see quickstep buffers and crouch cancels
The zip glitch... man that was so hype when Oroboros stumbled upon that on stream. Then he spent the next next few hours figuring out how to do it again and again. It was probably the highlight of the release year in streaming for me.
I loved the wavedash in super smash bros melee. Thanks for reminding me of good old times
The move swap glitch is also great for getting those pesky afk farmers
true!
9:47 Chrono Trigger !!! Nice :)
great job, ty for content
I can barely even sprinting jump, let alone any of this. It took me a dozen tries to do that roof jump in Stormveil before the bird, then I took until in-game night to clear out the entire courtyard from the roof, but it was worth it.
some amazing editing
I remember when I accidentally did a zip once on my ps4 version, I was in the volcano manor's cave place, where the duo virgin maiden's are, I was down a path where you had to fall down some platforms, and whacked right into the wall, luckily I didn't clip into it tho lol
I still cannot repeat it to this day
incredible vid!
I don't know who needs to know this but hold backstep/roll while doing heavy attacks with rapiers and curved swords to do their old weapon class 'kick replacement' moves.
The back step is basically like using heavy weapons and spinning around mid attack to throw off opponents in pvp. Gotta queue the dodge then turn your character
Oh yeah sunlight blade time baby
DS1 thing: There's a way to force a parry-only shield to bash. It involves menuswapping with a twohanded bow-zoom in the left to a parry shield. No delay, it just forces a shield bash as some consequence of going from bow mode to shield.
It has like no use. Maybe you could swap out at the right time to force a bash against an opponent who's rushing you while you're aiming a bow? idk.
nice video i found the menu swap more difficult than move swap and the zip glitch was impossible on my 1060 gtx
Also there used to be homeward bone items that used to get you out of an area or boss fight, but none in elden ring HOWEVER if you use the item that teleports you to the blood area underneath calid it works the same as a homeward bone.
True, it saved my ass the other day in Leyndell, Ashen Capital. I used it to escape from the area with 4 ulcerated tree spirits after grabbing a talisman.
Music @9:47 bringing back mad memories 😍
I remember in Dark Souls 1 we would call the Reverse Backstep a Ravioli Step!
About time man.
Luv your vids
Where does running backstep parries in pvp thats the skill that took me the longest to get where does that rank you think?
Skill #3 in dS3 was called Ravioli Step, coined by the late great PraiseTheSun
Some people have multiple copies of weapons in their inventory to make weapon swapping easier
What is the item under the Torrent ring here? 5:22 Never seen this in the game at all...
Is that the music from Risk playing at the end of the video?
Guess who's back
Back again
sunlight blade inspired me to upload my own elden ring pvp content
Wow what is that final armor for the flask section? It looks like Guts armor from.Berserk
Cool tricks !
Hey man! What's the armour set you're wearing?
If you are just looking to do proof of concept, I wonder if using Voice Attack and playing with the timing might help with recreating the zip glitch. You can program in pauses for inputs in that, I'm just not sure if it is accurate to 1/30 sec.
Wow your editing has gotten real slick! what do ya use?
Still Adobe! (After effects/premier pro) I just spent a lot more time than normal on this :D
Reverse quickstep so hard but I’m going to learn it
Our favorite Top Ten creator is BACK!
I'd say I've mastered the backstep one. I can constantly do backsteps in all directions without actually turning to look.
Intro song is amazing
Try the parry-elevator skip in the halig tree
I've tried the zip glitch as well, but it wasn't really possible on my setup. I would only teleport about 2 feet.
I'm surprised you didn't cover the wrong warp glitch.
@10:30 what’s the axe with a red blade there???
Welcome back! TROUBLED TARNISHED!!!
Holy shit, shout out to Jet the band that made the first song you used
I never comment but I absolutely loved this video. Nice work!
I thought the zip glitch was only available in a previous patch?
I'm very surprised you did not include the Perfumer's Grotto wrong warp glitch. I was able to get to cool areas in the underground, Farum Azula, the capital, and elsewhere by a simple save and quit.
Nvm got patched.
the zip glitch "can" be done on console but the controller limitations make it pretty much impossible to do it so the most i managed to zip was like 5-6 step forward
I thought you would try the Perfect Block. The block while running and let's you poise through attack. It's a difficult PvP skill.
What i discovered is that you can teabag faster when spamming block while teabagging
On the ruptured tear skip I did it without swinging the weapon. 4th try. But I think that was around patch 1.03.
6:34 use the flask of wonderful Phisiks
Yo what is that item in the quick use slot at 7:41 ?
