Fuck bro. You're one of YT's best players with an extensive knowledge of combat. And this is just brutal. Entertaining to watch, but knowing myself and my friends we would have rage quit by now.
I don't know exactly how it's going to be, but I've heard that the devs are done with major biomes after the ashlands. The deep North will mostly be just an extension and a new area to explore. But not actually a full biome with a boss and everything. I don't know how true that is but that's what I've heard
@@WafflesGamesProbably you will be the old timers telling us of the good old days when you walked barefoot uphill in the snow both ways..or fought a gazillion mobs nonstop in the ashlands...calling us wimps(mere mortals)
Using the env clear command seems op when you compare the 2 povs.... it's not as bad as the mistlands but stilll is dark and hard to see even during the day! Also, staff of embers works surprisingly well - even better than frost staff and the knockback is nice too.
okay. I just came back from my BRUTAL REMATCH with Fader (Ashlands Boss) that lasted 2 Valheim days and 10 DEATHS later... And my theory that it takes more damage from Frost and Spirit damage-weapons turned out to be correct. Still, the bastard is tough as nails. In terms of HP maybe it even rivals the Queen (Mistlands Boss) who has around 21,000 HP points. For comparison Eikthyr has 2000 HP points only. Now I won't spoil its attacks and patterns. But word of advice, bring lots of health, stamina (you will do a lot of running and dodging lol), fire-resist, and if you use magic, eitr potions. Basically bring them all. Also, to those who use summoning magic (summoning allied skeleton soldiers), let's just say you will NEED those extra friendly soldiers for this boss fight.. Fader ain't gonna fight you by his lonesome the whole time.. I died freaking TEN TIMES testing out which combinations of weapons and foods work best against that boss (its really tiring, yes) but like I said I can't spoil Fader's abilities and patterns, though I gave you some hints in this comment. Its up to you to discover the rest and prep for it. Keep going with this new series, I like your tandem and shenanigans. Looking forward to the day you defeat Fader, boys!
It's neat to see the progression. Using the blobs against them, learning attacks (warriors having two varieties of their two attack types is really neat!), getting a good combo of tanky and casty. 👍 Taking out spawners helps a lot, made my first island a lot more manageable. One thing I must say though, I feel like the unlocks are _really_ scarce. Normally, you get crafting station upgrades pretty fast from new wood or stone, or a few things. So far, all I can remember is lingering potions, arrows and the staff. And stone portals. But no other gear and not even a cooking recipe to use the new food items except roasting them. For all the difficulty, it seems very unrewarding. It would be better to trickle things to the player than, presumably, unlocking everything at once you find the magic ingredient (I assume metal). I guess the black forest was a bit like that (nothing much until you get cores and metals) but the progression feels bad here, maybe because it's so punishing.
@@WafflesGamesProbably played a bit more while finishing the video and unlocked more stuff. Turns out yeah, there are a few "magic ingredients" that then unlock a ton of stuff. My main complain now is for cooking. There should be a basic, mistlands tier stamina and maybe eitr food. When you go in the Ashlands, it's not to go back to Mistlands to farm food and potions, it's to play Ashlands. As it is, feels like it is tuned for people who have been stockpiling since mistlands release, going by how fast I go through food and potions. The gear is ok, you just need to encounter other enemies than charred, which for some reason is all there is on my first island. 2nd had everything (right in my LZ, of course!)
Okay. Here it goes. You want the new armour and weapons? heres how you get them. You will need to make these basalt bombs. You will need asksvin bladder etc the recipe says. The flame metal is in the middle of all that dangerous lava. Throw the basalt bombs into the lava and it will solidify and create a platform Form a path to the flame metal using the basalt bombs then mine away at that delicious flame metal
"is there no safe area in this place?" there are Dverger "safe house" locations in the Ashlands btw where small groups of Dvergers live in. They look rougher than their Mistlands brethren but they are also enemies with the Ashlands mobs so basically they're your allies (or cannon fodder). They "hide" in some of the ruined structures, the only way you can tell that they're there is if you spotted their campfires and spiked fences since they're usually inside the buildings (hiding from the looks of it). On rare instances you see these "Ashland Dvergers" out in the open fighting the Ashlands monsters (that's how I first discovered them). But from the looks of it they're very rare. So far I've only found two Ashlands Dverger holdouts, and that's after several hours of painful exploration there.
It's quite the difficulty jump!! I'm excited for my own playthrough to get there though just so I can go at my own pace and not have to deal with server lag.
do you use 2 eitr and one stamina food because the bubble should always be up and you shouldnt need the health..but the stamina is crucial to move out of the way?
Yeah I do two eitr and one stam to be able to keep up with my group/run away. I also carry my himmin afl in incase I need to crowd control if my eitr runs low in dicey situations. I used to use the mist sword but the knock back and stun of the himminafl is just too good to pass up
Hey almight waffle do you happen to know how does the lava landscape deal damage?Does it hurt the players with a certain percentage of HP or does it deal a fixed damge to everyone?
I think I died like a total of 6 times during my entire time in Mistlands, beating the Queren, everything. In two days of Ashlands I have died at least 15 times, mainly trying to mine flametal.
died to lava 2 times in a row: "this is medium difficulty combat, not hard and not very hard, it's default" not that easy combat would help in that case!
Quit whining! Odin pulled only the BEST dead warriors out of the battlefields...or did he? Our group finally made it in, fought harder, longer and spilled our blood in the same ash! She gets a little laggy with five players and infinite mobs too as you probably know, so now I'm even prouder of the bunch, I honestly didn't know we were that good. Really cool anyway but it seems a little too dark for my poor old eyes to get any visuals on melee timing yet.
he accidentally enabled the command "env clear" which removes the effects from all biomes. He realized this while editing the first episode, hopefully it'll be fixed soon
Its NOT Good!!!!!! I vote the ashlands as the hardest, worst, and meanest update to any game I have played in my 55 years on earth!!!!!! Good Luck All!!!

Damn. If this is the ashlands, the ice biome is going to be insanely hard.

Ok, the actually made me lol.

When I first started storming that Hell beach aka ash lands. I used blood magic and minions to fight through and build me a a new graunite base

"prostate powder" im dead.

Probably wont take too long since the devs are working hard to fix the few bugs on PTB
I knooowwww
This is all terrifying. If my settings are no battle, could I go in there and look around? And, is it possible to go in with the karve?
Haha the first episode will answer your karve question. And yeah passive enemies would work
I could not tell what happened with the karve, first episode. It seemed to explode 🫨
@frankh.8224 I'm pretty sure you need the new boat, otherwise the water will boil it, then you.

when your partner freezes the baddie instead of doing a frontal assault, perhaps you could attack it from the rear to get flanking damage.

I wonder as well.
How is there a blue sky in ashlands. Is this on the edge or something. Everything I have seen is Red, dark Gray. Or just super dark.
Did u shoot a crossbow at the morgan? Pierce Morgan?
Just curious. Why didn't you use the hoe to raise the ground to get to your equipment in the lava?

the ground is lava so that wouldn't work unless it moved it slightly closer!
