Tip for future wiring… When you have to solder multiple wires, it’s always better to stagger your cuts and solders, that way you don’t end up with a big knot in one area where all your connections are soldered together.. Helps a lot with clean wiring especially when you wanna actually loom everything up nice and neat.

So I watched both your video, and R4T’s video, and I noticed you hooked up the power wire out at the fuse by the battery, but the didn’t seem to hook it up. They did cut the wire, and said they didn’t need it. Is it necessary to install those power wires, or not?
Thanks for the informative video, I've been wanting a front-up camera for solo plow mounting forever now. R4T shipped fast and love the product. The only problem I had was with the video on the front camera not working/being intermittent, turns out it was an issue with the insulation inside the heatshrink on the back side of the relay. Probably an issue when the soldered the screens together and overheated the center conductor/insulation - one of the joys of working with screened cable. Otherwise a great kit, and easy install (except for getting through the bulkhead!)
Interesting to note the difference in resolution. The front looking much crisper and clearer. I’m wondering if you could simply replace the rear camera as well? Maybe you could simply cut the wires near the rear camera and splice a new one in?
So in a nutshell, this is great for people less than 5' tall that can't even see over the steering wheel, but want to drive a big people car??? I guess that's better than holding your cell phone up to steer by.................
Greetings Chloe! Your channel has been very aspiring and fun. I recently purchased the Anytime Camera from R4T… for my 2019 TRD Taco. I’ve tried to figure out why the camera switch doesn’t light up at night while all my instruments lights do? did I wired it wrong? Please let me know. Other than that, front and back amber lights light up ok on the switch. Thank you so much for your support!
Great video. I did the same install with the same grill. I was scared but I drilled a hole right under the emblem so I can screw the camera into the grill. A little risky but a much cleaner/OEM look. If you want to try it I have an extra grill if you need 😆
👍 thanks for all your videos. Just got my 2018 trd off road tacoma and been learning a lot from you. Glad the google algorithm had you pop up on my feed haha. I live in San Diego as well and was wondering if you can maybe do a video on beginner trails? My suspension and tires are still stock but I’m itching to go out. Thanks again, maybe one day I can hit the trails with you and your buddies.
When I align the camera male threads to the toyo emblem on the OE grille, it appears a portion of the camera base protrudes beyond the flat portion of the emblem. That doesn’t look factory! Did you do any other positioning?

Hello, I installed the front camara and I am having issues with the RCA cables. When I press 'Front' or 'Back' it is showing only the rear camara for both switches. My current wire set up is: Male Front Camara RCA connected to female RCA (1) on switch (not marked) 24 Pin Male RCA connected to female (2) RCA on Switch (marked) Male RCA on switch connected to 24 Pin Female I have tried multiple configurations and I have only been able to either get the switch to display both options on the front camara or the rear. Please help :)
After watching the R4T video on this camera install, I ran into a few snags (newbie with wiring and Tacoma’s and not to fault their vid). Watched yours and got everything successfully connected and working great! I appreciate your content so much and am slowly building my “new” 2020 off-road
Chloe, thanks for another great video. I'm not sure I want to do the install myself. Do you know a good installation company in North County San Diego that could do the install for me?
Great job 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Question: I don’t understand when you said you looped or cut the white wire on the any time camera 27:54? Can you clarify that for me. I must have missed something as I didn’t understand why you would cut some wires there. I may have misunderstood. Thanks.
It really is a cool modification unfortunately I can’t put it on my truck because it’s already there it came with my truck my truck came with a camera at the front the back and on the wing mirror so I can see the sights I have to say I really do love this feature allows me to see around my truck I do wish however that the resolution was a lot better I think this much room for improvement in this regard.

I bought this same camera setup but have yet to install it. Great video with detailed instructions, as always, Chloe. Is that the Factory Tacoma low profile bumper from 4WP? Looks just like it. I ordered mine on August 3rd and it just arrived. It's getting installed on my '19 SR5 Tuesday along with a pair of 2" cube lights and a 20" light bar. What do you think of the bumper?
Hi, I know this is an old video... I'm thinking about putting one in, but saw some forum discussions on cameras going blank or building up condensation under heat/water stress. Have you experienced these things on your camera? I don't want to go through all that work just to have both cameras go out eventually... your observations?
What's even better is having an aftermarket hu that supports multiple cameras. They can be always on. Don't understand why Toyota didn't have a "cargo" cam built into the 3rd brake cab light.
Try to install the anytime backup camera and it qont show nothing and when I put the car in reverse the backup camera shows my license plate and not the back view……any help
But being at the very front of the vehicle, all the road dirt, water etc will cover it up whenever you go out in not dry weather, so have to always keep cleaning it. A downside unfortunately.

I know there's some good wiring tips in the comments like staggering your solders, really good advice. I know you're an electrical engineer but something I've noticed personally and through other people is soldering is not great for use in vehicles. It'll work, dont get me wrong but there's a reason you won't find solder connections in a factory harness. They can heat up or degrade over time in a vehicle and then you're left with wire pulling against itself, coming apart, difficult to track down draws on your battery, normal gremlins. I used to solder everything but after seeing a few of the joints coming apart and spending way too much time hunting a draw in my brother in-laws XJ I switched over to deutsch connectors and bulkhead fittings. Weather pack connectors also work great. It's super clean and they're not expensive. You can also pick up OEM connectors for making jumper harnesses. Its all weather tight and unless you get violently angry and pull on them as hard as you can they'll last as long as the rest if your harness. Love your videos. I'm catching up on all of em 😊
Hi, love your installation vids. Is your rear camera came factory with your truck or did you added secondary camera to it? So the rear ( switch+relay ) is over riding your factory rear camera, making it manual correct? Instead of putting in reverse.
The red and black wire from camera only need to be connected on standard camera, the premium camera only needs the lone red wire next to rca male connected to green switch wire. Edit: the black wire should be grounded in engine bay but no need to wire power to red wire 👍🏽

It makes parallel parking super easy and the cameras are convenient to use for that. This is the only strength of the BeatSonic...see my following questions. 2. Does your navigation still continue to work when you have either camera buttons pressed? My navigation is disabled when I do on the BeatSonic. It takes a while for the Navigation to catch up and figure out where I am, once I turn the camera off. 3. When you unplug your positive battery terminal or completely unplug the head unit, does it take about 60 miles of driving for your camera button and reverse camera to be recognized and work again? My BeatSonic does, but I'm not sure if that would happen with the normal reverse camera anyway. Thanks!
