Criston Cole ordered the "Darklyn levies to move forward to divide the dragon's attention". Lord Darklyn was the man he beheaded earlier. Cole was using the turned troops as dragon fodder for Meleys to burn. He was thrown off his horse later as the reserve troops were fleeing falling Vhagar and got a pretty muddy armour, though.

I do feel for Aegon. Literally his whole life his mother (by her father's orders which is another layer of tragedy) forced him in a certain direction. Forced him towards the throne, a power that he genuinely begged not to have and now that he's there she's like "You're such a fucking moron, why would you ever think you're worthy of this power, shut up and do nothing because you're worthless" lol. Like yeah Aegon is not meant for this, so maybe don't put him there. Also, the audacity to think you can control a guy, a guy that everyone says can't even control himself, once you've given him ABSOLUTE power lmao. Such a tragedy in every way.
