I know this video is old, but since I had the same issue and I finally fixed my subwoofer, I like to share my findings. It's that C860 capacitor that caused my subwoofer to have no sound, it's a film capacitor 0.082uF 5% tolerance and 50V. I just replaced it and everything is working well. Also I had A similar issue about 2 years ago with the same sub, and replacing R830 and R831 fixed it for me, it looks like these are the most commun issues with this sub.
i am making a new backing for the enclosure and i am going to put this in my SUV. i want to hear this sub really bad. Sony is supposed to email me when or if they get new parts in. its a shame that all the You Tube videos on this sub all have the same problems. you would think that Sony would have done a recall on them.
@Eric C (The Art Of Noise) I had a Sony rear projection TV with a light box that many had the same problem with the bulb having to be replaced at $200 each every so many months and there were so many complaining about it, but Sony never recalled it. I got a new bulb and sold it. Canon had a stuck shutter and many had the same problem and they wanted everyone to send it in and they would determine if it was a defect and mine was repaired free! Another needing a recall! Then my last one was a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G had a swollen battery and the back separated and the screen was damaged, but they needed to see if it was their fault and I went to a shyster service they authorized and they would not call Samsung to get the authorization to investigate the problem and wanted to charge me for all the repairs except the battery. Then I finally got Samsung to have me mail it to their own repair facility and in 8 days they sent me a new phone! Free of charge! Such is the trend of Recalls by electronics companies!
I have a 1100 watt Peavey power amp that I fixed a while back. It was a resistor or two and some broken solder joints. It's a great amp! I concocted my own home theater a while back as well. I have several little satellite speakers but most of my sound is coming from 4 towers with 12" 8" and tweeters. Along with a couple of really old 12" Earthquake subwoofers. It too is probably around 1000 watts rms.
Was banging my head against the wall a few years ago trying to fix the same thing. Finally gave up and replaced the amp with a Bash. Sounds so freaking good. Headroom for days. More money than I wanted to spend initially, but still glad I did it.
I quit the whole 5.1 surround thing yrs ago. All I have is a 2.1 thing now. 4 Big Polk bookshelfs in the front and and one huge 300 watt polk Sub. just a basic High end stereo setup I like much more.
i have the 7.2 setup. its a little of a pain in the ass for the speaker placement because of the furniture, but man watching movies is one hell of an experience.
Hi I have the same issues with my SA-WX-700. I like to know if you finished the continuing video and where is it? I have not seen any other video with the same sub-woofer being fixed and I would like to fix my sub, I miss the great sound that come out of it.
yeah... it was a no go. there is a transformer that feeds the diodes and resistor. on mine the transformer is bad and i can't get another one. Sony said they are on back order.
Back in the late 80s to 90s, I use to live at Radio Shack till about 93. I use to repair a lot of cassette players and they could get everything from belts to pinch rollers. Then I found a website called MCM Electronics. It didn't take long for that site to disappear. Parts Express isn't bad, but they seem to be more audio. I miss the good ol days running to the Shack and picking up what I needed off the shelf.
I don't like the new technology since all electronic equipment is made in China, and they are made with (switched power supply) that do not last at all, made of poor quality, I prefer vintage technology, all my devices are vintage, they have more than 20 years and they work better than new equipment,
This you are not wrong about. This subwoofer was a bust. They no longer make the parts for it and I haven't been able to cross refence any parts for it.

Thank you Eric, for getting back to me so quickly . I haven't given up on this awesome subwoofer because when it was working it thumped.

I went to college for this very thing, graduated 3.98 gpa but now shake so bad and can't see to do the work but I still dig it.
I like how you have that pick holder mounted on the wall. I have the same holder but it just sits on my table. That's a great idea!
NICE VIDEO!! I LEFT LIKE NUMBER ELEVEN !

What happened to the second Vid ??
The parts I got for the amp didn't fix it. New boards are on backorder.
It seems the sub uses the isobaric configuration
Is there a part 2?
No part 2. I can't find the parts I need to fix this.
will it work?....good project mate
Never got back to this?
No. I can't find parts
@@ericctheartofnoise8613 sad, even radio shack used to have HEATH KIT for many DIY parts.

Did you ever fix the amp?
No. The one part i needed is unavailable. I couldn't cross reference to match one. I gave the two subs to one of my friends.
@@ericctheartofnoise8613 o ok because I'm in that same scenario
No
It's broke... take it outside and blow it up with some fireworks...
