🦅 Vultures often get a bad rap, but without them, both wild spaces and even urban ones might not be the same today. Let's join ‪@thembarobin4574‬ and call into question some of the myths.
🔮 While some are superstitious about vultures, believing their body parts can bring good luck, these beliefs are not based on fact. They have no special powers.
☠️ Often called nature's clean-up crew, vultures consume carcasses and keep our environment clean. By doing so, they play a crucial role in destroying harmful pathogens like anthrax in their highly acidic stomachs.
⚠️ Vulture populations are declining drastically, with many species now critically endangered. They’ve lost their homes to farmland and are poisoned by poachers who want to avoid them circling above rhinos and elephants that they’ve killed.
📉 This loss has serious ecological consequences. Without vultures, we could see a rise in diseases and a breakdown in the balance of our ecosystems.
