So interesting to see your experience! I am a qualified safari guide and ran a luxury lodge in Kenya.. I’ve experienced both sides, travelling kruger on a total budget staying in tents with my mates, or running a volunteering lodge in South Africa vs the luxury experience I ran in Kenya which was starting price of $1000 per night. So wow for the industry, this is cheap cheap. I’m now working as a safari consultant and the average safari spend from my company is $32,000 (6-250k range). You definitely pay for what you get, but at the end of the day I’d be sitting with my volunteers who’ve paid £100 per night watching the same lions as the car next to me from the luxury lodge who’d paid 10x more.. so the animal experience is often similar, but its the experience around the safari you pay for… the G&T drink stops, the luxury breakfasts, the infinity pool where elephants come to drink. I would say though, the best thing about the expensive holidays is you often get exclusivity- its not uncommon to go cheap and be sat in a sighting with 10 other cars!! Which can ruin the experience for some. Just some thoughts for anyone who is interested! I recommend Yellow Zebra Safaris if anyone wants anymore information
I'm glad you made this video! I wouldn't mind a safari either way. If i'm solo, i'd prefer luxury experience. its amazing how they live with the animals and herd their folk.
We just got back from a 4 night/ 5 day safari in tanzania. We paid $900 per person. (2 of us) It was a private safari with nice cottage accommodations. However, I did months of research to get the best value for money and we booked 6 months out. I think if you book once you're already there you will pay the premium.
You booked your safari when you arrived in Africa , in your case from what I saw you were lucky. I would suggest to anyone do your research into different tour companies before you come some are much better than others. The more expensive the safari you tend to get better guides which can make such a difference to your stay.
I enjoyed watching every episode you have posted whilebin our country, so i have waited for the safari episodes for so long, I hope you are having fun.

So cool! I'm surprised the safari car isn't completely open, all the videos and pics I've seen of safari there isn't any roof and the car is totally open.
You are making me so excited for our safari in September!!! One question...white shirts? Yes or no? I read that it's really dusty so it's recommended to not wear white. What was your experience with wearing white?
Yes, I'm not safari guider but I'm Tanzanian. Having seen ur question unanswered I've seen better to reply it. Here it's easier than a word itself. It May range from 40,000/=Tanzania Shillings(Equivalent to 20 Us dollars and above depending on the quality of hotels you want. When you arrived and started looking at safari options, do you recall what mid-range private safaris cost? Wondering whether to wait until we arrive before booking. I have a feeling it's just the budget ones that are probably a bit cheaper 'on the ground'. Also, I'm guessing you just met new people on the group tour? Or are these friends you went with? (I may have missed this in the video somewhere, sorry!) Great video btw!
Thanks! No I was not looking at private safaris so I unfortunately don’t know ;/ from what I have seen tho it was not just the budget once, but in general everything was much cheaper in Arusha
