I only wish I could play like Otis Taylor on guitar, and he makes me wish I'd have learned to play banjo, too. He's a brilliant musician and songwriter!
@kathyuk28 Something like that. The character's name in the movie is Tommy Johnson. Check out the Odyssey sometime if you want perspective on the movie. It's what they based it on.
This song is called "Ten Million Slaves", written and performed by Otis Taylor, off the album by Otis Taylor, called "Recapturing The Banjo" and the album features Keb Mo'. This song is NOT in "O Brother Where Art Thou?" or the soundtrack album either. Otis Taylor has another song some people may know at the end of the Mark Wahlberg movie, "Shooter" called "Nasty Letter", which you can probably find here. It's another excellent song, but off another album of Taylor's called "Truth Is Not Fiction."
this song was not in this film? but it is one of the best films ive seen and very funny! if it is in the film then i totaly missed it. but i have the sound track for this film.
@cvvemuri I don't want to be "that guy" here, but something is compelling me to point out that the fact that both movies share a common character is in no way irony, it's coincidence, sure, but irony is a contrast between what is expected and what has actually happened. Sorry.
Nicely Done....... Love Love This Song, Loved "Public Enemies" and Love "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" Thanks for sharin' :)

I only wish I could play like Otis Taylor on guitar, and he makes me wish I'd have learned to play banjo, too. He's a brilliant musician and songwriter!

Now the Coen brothers need to make a gangster film! :)
I was thinking the same thing, I wish they'd done more with Nelson in public enemies though.
@kathyuk28 Something like that. The character's name in the movie is Tommy Johnson. Check out the Odyssey sometime if you want perspective on the movie. It's what they based it on.
this song is bad ass

Daniela Aurora banjo music is sum of the best!!
the song is so badass, even chuck norris is scared of it
"...I don't want FOP got' dambit! I'm a Dapper Dan man!" I still use his "got dambit" sometimes.
this song was not in this film? but it is one of the best films ive seen and very funny! if it is in the film then i totaly missed it. but i have the sound track for this film.
Funny how this song makes this relatively silly movie serious as hell.
@ocarlson007 ... the Coen brothers have made a gangster film. It's called Miller's Crossing. Everyone should check it out.
Nice song and movie what the movie called looks good.
The engineer at 0:44 looks like he should be singing this.
i've never seen this movie before.
@OoryanoO42 I'd bust outta jail to this....
The Coen Brothers are amazing! Good film, but I like Fargo better.
@cvvemuri But Baby Faced Nelson is so much more fun in O Brother!!!
Did you guys know that this song was a recording of actual prisoners in 1959?
@gavrilo83
and the whole world...
@cvvemuri I don't want to be "that guy" here, but something is compelling me to point out that the fact that both movies share a common character is in no way irony, it's coincidence, sure, but irony is a contrast between what is expected and what has actually happened.
Sorry.
Really funny considering George Nelson was in public enemies and Oh brother where art thou.
@cvvemuri Look up the word "irony".
i dont remember hearing ten milleon slaves in O brother where art thou
Is the man playing the guitar in this movie supposed to be Robert Johnson?
@brandon10255 it wan't. from public enemies
@cvvemuri public enemies baby face is better though....but john goodman! yo!
@cvvemuri Do you know what irony even means? What you are talking about is a coincidence.
I think they paraphrased it
