You've proposed a good alternative to the original plan, though unless the former kitchen was definitely going to be a bedroom, just a w/c would suffice. It might get used as a TV room or an office, neither of which need another shower.

So I'm guessing you're not a plumber. Where is that upstairs toilet waste draining to? A macerator next to one's head at night, draining down to one's kitchen, sounds like a figurative and literal sh!t show.

Total bollocks, who wants to listen to kids screaming or on their phones or games while trying to relax, the extractor fan on and smell from cooking all through the house,oh and a nice french door to the scratty yard ???
