It’s hard to answer based on the last 2 games. They played the number 3 and 6 teams in the country. Oregon was a 9 pm game that ended at midnight after not even a full week’s rest after playing the Buckeyes. Our O-line looked non-existent, but consider who they were up against. I’m hoping some rest will get our guys’ bodies ready for Iowa. That will be a good test after these past 2 games.
A lot of them are freshman or underclassmen. We knew this going in. Then several OL were injured for the season and lost some to the portal. It's not like you can go out and pick up new OL at the trade deadline. Even if we had talent, an OL takes time to become a unit. The only thing to fix this is better recruiting/portal and TIME to develop. Honestly the OL has performed better than they are on paper.
Dying to see the OSU v Iowa game. With Indiana becoming a juggernaut, the window to win 3 games is closing fast. Outside of maybe Purdue, we won't be favored in any remaining game.
Playing OSU and Oregon in back-to-back games COULD help MSU especially before a bye week if they don't lose their confidence. These two games should give the Coaching Staff ideal teaching film as these are the two best teams in the Big10.
yeah that stings, but we would have taken 3-1 after BC at the begin of the season. Honestly, who did expect 3-3 at this point. That was almost the best scenario. We do keep improving although it's hard to tell against two top 6 teams.
This team needs to sustain more juice on the offensive side of the ball. They seem to play well for one or two possessions and then have a huge drought while the opponent continues to execute.
It's clear that we aren't built to punch above our weight class. As long as the Spartans stay healthy, and stick together...we should be alright. Don't give up.
Mike Lee announced as new Head Coach of Michigan Stage Football. AD says he knew he was the man for the job when he read his insightful comments on UA-cam videos. Haller expects Lee to “win every single game and overcomes all possible obstacles and roster deficiencies on day one.”
Some of the commenters here are blissfully ignoring the dumpster fire Smith inherited from the Tucker era. That was just a year ago. I’m not necessarily a Smith fan but I do have a great memory. Very un-American of me. 😂😂😂
Smith really did get handed a sack of dog sh*t. He was highly competitive at Oregon State, and Michigan State has a much higher ceiling as a program -- more resources of every kind.
Until they start playing old-school football quick openers for the running back quit running the ball back into the backfield and handing it off that gives the defense time to react and it also has an effect on your running game if you want a new Eli a good defensive line you run quick openers thequarterback takes the ball from the center turns and the back is receiving the ball into the line. It’s old school football, but they don’t do that.
Offensive line holding is making the game unwatchable. The refs have no interest in cracking down. You could see holding on every replay that you watched last night by the ducks. And yet I don’t think they have one holding all game.
How does one fix getting manhandled on the offensive and defensive lines? How do you fix a quarterback who often looks like a deer in the headlights when it comes to finding secondary receivers? No denying this team is a long ways from competing for anything in the Big Ten. We need many more players.
He's terrible, can't get away from blocks, but even when unblocked he'll not get into the play. Lanning had several plays to just exploit him... and boy did they work. Every OC sees his incompetence & lack of athleticism
Bench Chiles, too. He needs to quit carrying the ball like a loaf of friggin' bread. One maybe two fumbles you let slide, but this continued RZ fumbling is unacceptable.
@j_r_junior Oh hey its you..... the guy who would be satisfied with MSU to go 7-5 every year for eternity. The casual rah rah "Go green run the touchdown play" guy.
Cal Halady is the constant in our terrible pass defense. He doesn’t hold up his end of the work. Every team since 2021 gets him in 1 on 1 matchups and exposes him. Great player against the run, terrible in pass coverage.
Oregon football: always the bridesmaid and never the bride. They’ve proven over the years they have a hard ceiling. I’ll be rooting for the Buckeyes next week cause as far as I am concerned it’s still Big Ten v PAC 12.
Oregon has _never_ *recruited* the way they have in the last 4 years or so. When Chip Kelly had them there vs Auburn, and Helfrich got them there vs Ohio State, they did not have the talent they are landing of late. They regularly have top-10 classes now, and they have all the NIL they need -- #3 recruiting class in 2024 and #2 in transfer rankings. So you kind of have to get with the times. There's a new CFB landscape, and a new B1G.
MSU fans have as e no class. Saying f Ohio while a player was injured. Do you guys remember the osu game. Besides two series osu had you wrapped. Omg. Knocked a couple guys out of the game.

Except for maybe Tanner Miller, the rest of the O-line is an FCS or maybe, a MAC O-line
Agree 100%

@YTSparty the OL has performed exactly how they are on paper, which is garbage.
Pass defense exceeded expectations, every other position underperformed
Be sure to mention MSU Hockey in the BYE. #4 MSU.

BC loss may end up hurting bowl chances. Indiana, Illinois, and Rutgers are not easy games anymore.
We the new indiana and Rutgers

Good team, good pieces, in time smith will have this program great!
Dream on!

Hey Jim. Let me answer your question in the title. NO.

@@j_r_junior why do you keep making these idiotic comments?? You're no more qualified to comment on football than anyone else.
@@luiscasco9358 that’s precisely my point…
@@luiscasco9358He's a loser. One of those MSU can do no wrong guys. He thinks Barnett was a great head coach.

The MSU O-line was holding at least as frequently. Probably more, considering how they were getting beat.

Goo Green
Paullllllll. That’s the best u can do Jim?
Another aidan Chiles redzone turnover. He sucks
Only 5 players on the roster left from the Cristobal era at Oregon.
Oregon recruits top 5. All that NIKE money.
Not sure what your point is. Lanning and crew are even better at recruiting. Oregon has the #3 recruiting class in 2024 and the #2 transfer group.
Oregon looked much better than they have all year now they did look good vs Oregon state but besides that not really
Jonathan you're going have to convert one of your linebackers into a big running back a la Michigan (and Ohio State). If you can't run you're screwed.
KRLA is a fine running back. Problem is the o-line getting blown up play after play. Carter has been a disappointment, though
They just have to scheme the offense to work around a weak OL.
Chiles needs to be benched
who is better than him? Schuster is not the answer. We have the dumbest fanbase in America.
This clown said is his preview of this game that he thinks Michigan state could hang with Oregon on a neutral field LMAO 🤣 lost all credibility.
Either be an objective reporter, or be a fan 😂
Also “strategic holding” wtf is this guy on about 😂😂😂
oregon was good but msu was horrible. too many turn over.
