wouldn't it be a bit safer to have a fin taped down inside the box to make sure it sits straight while the resin cures for the box? just a curious question.
Some people see a surf board, well after looking at the care, patience and skill I call it a work of art 🎨 😉 beautiful work 🤙cheers rick from Perth Australia 🇦🇺
Your video production was as good as most movie filmmakers. The pace was calming yet entertaining, and I appreciate the natural sounds of the workshop. Keep it up, this is one of the most simply wholesome and honest videos I’ve seen here, and I’ll keep watching your creations. thanks for the work you put into it.
I just found your channel today, and already It’s my favorite out of all the shaping/glassing channels i’ve seen. The amount of detail and care you put into every single step (including the camera angles, lighting, focus) is something i really appreciate about this. I’m going to be shaping my first board in about a couple weeks and finding your channel will definitely have helped me prepare even more for it. Look forward to keep seeing more of your videos :) Thanks for sharing man
as i didnt glass for more than 25 years, it was great to hear this special glassingsound again :-D THANKS! i dont know if the top coats and resins are not that "unhealthy" today, but we had to use gloves ANYTIME, cause the chemicals went thru our skin into the body somehow.. btw: we put the grafic layers directly under the first layer of glass. is there a special reason for not doing this? (back in the days we only had clarkfoarm)
so glad the video was able to get to you! you're definitely right about wearing gloves during the hot coat. I'm usually pretty careful about safety but that bad habit somehow formed anyway. The only reason I did the graphics above the first layer of glass was just to buy myself some more time to adjust the graphics before the resin went off.
Love the changeable shaping to glassing racks! Think you could give some insight to how you made them and where to get the materials. Look like street sign posts I guess
Great video. Question: is there a reason you did the glass coat first on the deck rather than the bottom? It’s the reverse order than the host coat. Wondering if there’s an advantage to that.
Hi, you really did a good job and I watched the whole video.🤙 If I have a chance to know what oz is it of the fiberglass you use? And how is the strength after using 2 layers on top side then 2 times coating? Strong enough or can make a dent if you mean it to press?
Nice job. I just started making surfboards and am on my 2nd one. I have made a lot of mistakes but I learn from each one. I see that you aren't perfect, yet, but you know what you are doing and it looks nice.
Wow! You put so much work in the camera angles and lighting. Your camera must be full of polyester though with you changing angles while glassing! Sick channel! Keep them vids coming!
Logo lams on clears usually go under the first layer of cloth in a production setting. Pull out your cloth for the board like normal, cut your excess and when youre ready to laminate roll your cloth back to where you want your lams, drop a bit of resin, lay the lam and saturate it so it stays put, roll your cloth back over and then make sure to work the resin all the way in. I think in the case of this board what you did was the right move because you had so many. Hit the cloth that you scar/cut when triming with a little styrene, it will re liquify the resin and bond the frayed ends so you dont get any scaring showing through. It also might help to tape your razor blade when cutting the first lap like you have your hole saw taped off as a guard for the leash plug, it will keep the blade from punching into the foam. Nice work all by yourself in one room! PS i have no clue what im talking about I just make videos ;)
@@CameronSardo dip either a brand new brush or the tip of a paper towel in straight styrene and wipe the edge of the raw cloth where you cut, that's where it would scar and show through. If you use a paper towel be super light cause the paper towel will snag on the frayed edges and could leave a little paper debris. It's kinda magic to watch disappear, you'll trip out.
@@CameronSardo you can do it on your laps and on your logo patches as well as glass on fins. You don't need much and make sure you keep your styrene away from cobalt unless your mixing it in resin or it goes 🔥
Nice to see your videos. I am a newbie glassing 2 boards with epoxy atm. Whats your take on gloves? i see u dont wear them while cutting or cleaning up your laps and taping. Do u ever have contaminations or issues? Mine keep sticking to the tape all the time 😅
I have an old surfboard with many pressure dings. The whole board feels soft. To add more rigidity, can I fill these dings and then glassing it again without removing the existing shell?
The cut lap technique you tried.. trying bending the blade... How you laminating the logo.. I have learned something new I was just throwing 1.50z on top of logos.. but I'm eps epoxy guy, it seems like PU glassing is so much faster
mine doesn’t either. there are some printers that do print white or you could do what i did and just lam the board clear. I also know of a place called boardlams that will print your logos/graphics for you but it will of course cost a bit more.

Excellent job. Looks fantastic
wonderful to watch, I can see your love for building surfboards, the camera work and the video cut alone are top notch, keep it up... see you on water

Straight to the ding repair. 😁
Good lighting and camera angles. I enjoyed the pace of the video. Pleasant to watch with breakfast. Thanks.
so glad to hear it. thanks for leaving a comment
very nice cinematography. Impressed that you got so many angles while you were glassing the board.
it’s definitely a lot of work. glad to hear it’s appreciated :)

yeah the camera definitely gets more than the average wear and tear hahaha
Excellent video and very nice job. I have glassed many of my own boards but I learned a few things from this. Thank you!
awesome thank you so much!
@@CameronSardo Who made the rotary sander you’re using? (The one with the motor above the sanding disc.) What grit do you use on that? Thanks!🤙🏼
Grandioso trabajo!

you want shaping too? i’ll include it next video :)
amazing job. I love the when the board dropped aha
Came out nice. I’d say put your logos under the first layers of glass. 🤟🏼
yeah that probably was the professional move. i think i was concerned with taking too long and the resin going off.

@@ryanrosas4063 you're saying just hit the edge with straight styrene or mix it with resin? never heard of that I might have to try it

Hey mate awesome vid will help a lot. What ounce fibreglass do you use? And what polish compound?
thanks! glad it helped! i use two layers of 6oz on the top and one layer 6oz on the bottom. i used Meguiar’s ultra finishing polish for this one.
Nice vid what type of compound do you use for the final polish?
I have an old surfboard with many pressure dings. The whole board feels soft. To add more rigidity, can I fill these dings and then glassing it again without removing the existing shell?
Great question!
hello, question for the pro.. What foam is recommended? is EPS100 good anough or do i need EPS200-300?
Well done!
Hey buddy! This video spoke to me in a lot of ways. I got a question: What type of resin were you using for your hotcoat and glosscoat?
Thank for you video. I have a question. what material you used to print picture and stick on your board? (12:43)
it’s rice paper. you can find some at most art supply stores. i just print on it with a normal at printer.
@@CameronSardo i got it, quick response. You have my sub. Thank you so much 😊
@@yokun19994 glad I could help!
hey man great job! im sure it will help some people in the weeds on glassing.
What kind of polish do you use?
Love the vids
Any advice on laying out and marking lap lines? I know my hand and eye will be trained by my 1000th board, but not so much yet. 😂

Dear Cameron, can you tell me, what materialsdo you make applications from?
Thanks😊
was that rubbing compound or just polisher at the end?
Hie. Very thorough video. May I know the material of stickers you using ?
Hello Cameron. My print don't print white color in logos. How do you print white color logo in your printer? Thanks. Great work!
mine doesn’t either. there are some printers that do print white or you could do what i did and just lam the board clear. I also know of a place called boardlams that will print your logos/graphics for you but it will of course cost a bit more.
awesome stuff, thanks
Any reason you went with a cut lap for a clear coat? Just practice?
I find I can sometimes see the lap when I use 6oz fiberglass. It's also quite a bit simpler when sanding for the next layer of glass.
Nicely glassed.
Thanks for posting
thanks for watching!
how much resin did you use for the top lam ?
probably like 50oz
what tape are you using for the pin line pin?
1/8 inch heat resistant tape. i’m not exactly sure the brand
awesome vid
These videos are awesome! Why did you stop uploading videos?
nice man
You do make it look so easy! Great work bro
thanks so much!
Dhe epo
I notice that you don't put a cheater coat on your rail, when you put on your hot coat .
what tape are you using?
i usually use 3m automotive tape. other brands will work too, just make sure that it’s made to be useable in high temperatures
@@CameronSardo cheers, tried frog tape once you can imagine the issues

Weird technique for the art. :)
