I really enjoyed this episode Arch. I have both a new Honda with the GCV170 but also an old Briggs 190cc flat head on a Victa chassis. Runs perfect and will never part with the old girl. It is always good to have that old and new mix, get the best of both worlds. I'd keep the honda mate!
Take a close look at this video, with the top off there is some good shots of how the choke rod is connected along with the full setup. I suspect the rod may be bent on yours.
@@vangstr Yes, choke on, valve closed or mostly closed,, check the cable adjustments and condition,, lubricate all as I mention in the video,, lube the cable too
Honda in my opinion is numero uno on the market but there are some issues with the newer ones that have come out about the guarding of the belt on the bottom of the deck. Also appears that the new Honda engines take approximately 2 ounces of oil less than before but basically they have the newer engines running cooler hence less oil. Bought one used 30 years ago and sold it 3 years ago still running and we get the annual service work (does not get any better than that eh)?
Agreed! Luv my Honda's!!! BUT I don't like replacing engines/transmissions on most models.. I just passed up one because of this.. I just don't like it.. I did a video on replacing like 3 or 4 of these with issues,, never released it! It was frustrating to do, a horror to shoot and edit! Maybe one day I will release some version of the footage.. I advise constantly on cleaning and maintenance! If this is done, those issues are avoided!! But I'm preaching to the choir! lol
@@TheNovaJohn Yoh feel your pain brother , biggest mistake customers make is washing the underside with a hose or pressure washer causing the clutch system for the blade to rust up and fail. Yep real pain doing repairs on these but mine ran beauty for all those years just keep scraping debris and with the aluminium or manganese deck bonus.
@@waynestefinashen239 Ya gotta clean the underside,, I recommend a wash, then leave it in the sun for a day to dry.. Run the engine and running gear for a few minutes then sun bake..
Great video
Thanx Tj,,,,,,,

@@TheNovaJohn thanks but the rod is straight with no issues. Is the valve completely closed or slightly closed when choke lever is on?
