Not quite sure how many of you will make it through this video, but if you do - Thanks! Now I am curious to know: Are you on team “deworming” or team “no deworming” when it comes to prophylactically treating captive-bred pet snakes?

As an aside, your illustrations are really nice! I especially like the one at the vet; the expression on the snake's face made me laugh

I understand the hesitation to deworm a snake, and i think personally id monitor the situation but very well may use it. Personally, i have volunteered at a place that got in garter snakes with some sort of infection and i watched them go from having small lumps to large wounds and needing to be euthanized. It was very sad as they had great personalities and were very curious but didnt respond to treatment. However, i would probably only deworm if it was a newer snake or if there was some clear way of introducing the worms (like a new item in the enclosure). Since i only have one snake i dont have to worry about that too much right now as she seems healthy. Great video, much enjoyed seeing your noodles

sorry to hear about the garter snakes :( I know they have a reputation for being quite sensitive... But yeah, ultimately it's always better to be overly cautious than to miss a potential infections, that's why I'm planning to have my snakes' droppings analysed to be sure they don't have anything.

Neat video! I hadn't heard of using an exercise tent for a snake, but I love the idea!
The dewormer you mentioned really is used for all sorts of animals-- I've read on fish forums a lot of people using it to treat parasite infestations in fish tanks! I'd def look into it further before doing that myself, though 😅

thank you, glad you liked the video! I did not know fenbendazole was also used for fish, very interesting.

Thanks for feature, maybe Noodle will be famous now. 🤣🤣 And an awesome video. I am really interested in targeting training so I liked seeing your corn in action, even when she was being a goof 😆 Can't wait to see more

No problem, let me just get a few thousand subscribers more and then he may be ;)
Thank you, glad you liked it. If you ever try target training your python let me know how it goes (mine seems to be a lot less enthusiastic about it than my corn snake). By the way, I forgot to ask you if you wanted your instagram handle listed in the snake feature, if you want I can try to add it!

So relieved to hear your corn snake was healthy. Should you freeze fecal samples or just at cooler temperatures in a fridge? Another fantastic video!! The way you intergrated your art with your editing is perfect! Team no deworming on captives unless I see more concerning symptoms

Thanks! Glad you like the editing, it's something I've been trying to improve recently :) If I understood correctly (and the internet seems to have the same opinion), the fecal samples should be kept in a fridge and not frozen.

Great video! How do you have your substrate divided up? Is it pure reptisoil or did you mix it with something else? I thought I saw chips or something similar. Also wow I LOVE that hide! Do you mind telling me where you got it? My corn snake would love it as it would also serve as a basking platform! Thank you!

Hi, glad you liked the video! I used to have only aspen bedding, but nowadays 2/3 of the terrarium are covered in soil substrate. The third featuring the warm hide still has aspen.
The soil is a mix of different substrates, the main "dirt" part is either terrarium soil or coconut fibre (depending on what I could find at the pet store), with some small bark chips mixed in. I also like throwing leaves on top. I don't really stick to specific brands but I try to keep the substrate soft enough for the snake to dig around in. I put terrarium soil and moss inside the hides.
The hide is the "snake cave" from the brand Trixie. It should be available on Amazon. I can really recommend it, it's my snake's favorite hide!
