    I've done it, I now have a new red carpet, with jute underlay, a kit that was meant to fit, but doesn't. It's too wide, couldn't cut the edges or the trim would disappear, so piled up in the middle over the tunnel, so carpet halfway up the gearstick gaiter, still it's in, and that's the main thing. Thanks for video that gave me the confidence to have a go. The parcel shelf did get its edges cut off, as you can't disguise a hump in the middle of the parcel shelf :)

    I like the bird, I'm in the UK, so it sounds exotic to me :). The video was very helpful too.

      Glad it helped out! Never thought of the birds of exotic. Haha!

      This sounds like we don't have birds in Europe, which we obviously do. And this sounds like a normal bird to me. Nothing exotic.

    I have a quick question that i cant seem to find the answer to anywhere else. in my mini's center console to the left and right i have two pull levers. one has red and blue arrows and the other has two vertical lines, and a dot with a line through it. what are those?

    • @classicminidiy
      @classicminidiy  8 років тому

      Could you take a picture and post a link here? Nothing is coming to mind with the description.

      My guess from seeing something like it on a friends mini is that the red and blue arrows on the push pull plunger is for the heat control of your heater. It almost looks like the arrows are pointing slightly forward and backwards but that one is for your temperature control. As for the other plunger, it isn't a manual choke for the engine is it?? Older classic minis had manual chokes didn't they?

    • @RakTheGoose
      @RakTheGoose 8 років тому

      turns out it was the choke, thank you

    What spec bolts (thread, length, etc) are you using for mounting the seat brackets to the chassis?

    • @classicminidiy
      @classicminidiy  5 років тому

      The strongest ones I could find. I forget the exact length but there is a BlackHawk Hardware near my house that carries tons of various sized Grade 8 bolts. The factory brackets that are part of the cross member are much more likely to break before the bolts do. I also use nylon locking nuts to make sure they dont come off unintentionally.

    • @qwiebe
      @qwiebe 5 років тому

      @@classicminidiy Thanks for the quick reply! Your seat brackets are part of the cross member? I've got a '64 Austin and the factory brackets are separate from the crossmember and need to be bolted in place. The previous owner took the brackets off of the crossmember and now I can't find the proper bolts to reinstall them

    • @classicminidiy
      @classicminidiy  5 років тому

      @@qwiebe Yeah there are these welded on brackets that are on the cross-member and then the seat has its own bracket that kinda slots down into it. If you send me an email classicminidiy@gmail.com I can grab you some photos tonight when I get home from work. It's only 10:45am here haha!

      I am not actually sure. They came with the car, they almost seem like custom seats (based on the ruler on the bottom. Hahaha
