My girlfriend is deathly allergic to eggs and frequently eats vegan donuts as a replacement for regular donuts, this is a true nightmare for someone like her and I hope that the company takes responsibility for their action
This shouldn't be charged as a scam, it needs to be charged as criminal endagerment. Someone allergic to the ingredients of a normal donut are going to buy something like this think it's safe, only to have an attack, or worse.
Well it is straight up illegal to intentionally decieve/misslabel the ingredients/contents of any item you ingest because of the very reason of someone possibly being alergic to something. I bet they are the kind of people that think the only allergies are dust, animals, nuts and bees. Bro there are people that are literally allergic to air, or allergic to themselves in general. Allergies are straight up rule34, if it exists it will find a way to harm/kill someone. Also why would you even wanna intentionally lie about that because of how much even 1 incident can basically delete your company. I guess they probably saved money on obtaining the donuts to sell, but decided to get shut down and most likely be sued for millions of dollars.
There was a case in the UK where the owner of an Indian restaurant decided to swap out almond powder for peanut powder because it was cheaper, then sold the dish to a guy who specifically told them he had a fatal peanut allergy. The guy who ate it died, even though he had been assured the dish was safe for him to consume. Apparently, the owner of the restaurant was £300,000 in debt and was using cheaper ingredients to save money. He was jailed for six years for manslaughter.

As someone is coeliac, the prices of goddam gluten free products are so inflated from regular gluten products that i have no idea why anyone would choose to go gluten free. Also if you go gluten free for too long your body develops an intolerance to it anyway, and the gluten jumpscare cut my lifespan by at least half
yeah not only that, but tons of the "gluten free" options are still cross-contaminated. My girlfirend is Celiac and we always have to ask a bunch of questions at every restaurant
@@samjbergstromyeah, most people with a gluten issue have a celiac disease, (I’m just gluten intolerant fortunately) but this is incredibly messed up as celiac disease makes some of my family members that have it sick for weeks, and if I eat gluten my gut gets majorly damaged
Oh yeah. Friend of mine developed either Celiac or a strong intolerance to gluten during her 2nd pregnancy. She uses self-tanner, used the same one for years, but started getting sick the day after using it. Contacted the company and found out the formula changed, now contained gluten. Not even food, just a cosmetic! I hope to God no Celiac sufferers got sick from that bakery's lie!
The allergy aspect is potentially really serious, but even just the fact that she’s buying cheaper products and selling them at a premium is also disgusting.
The people running this thing can't even figure out the difference between vegan and gluten free. Nobody with real allergies is going anywhere near it in the first place. It's the kind of place people with no jobs go to pay extra and post pictures.

I use almound flour a lot in my cooking so whenever I let people try anything with it because I brought food to work I make sure to label it as such. No one expects a chocolate chip cookie to be half almonds inside the flour..... Dont want to kill anyone with a nut allergy.
Wow! Remember that a lot of folks with dairy/milk allergies go for vegan alternatives because they don't contain dairy. Someone could very easily go into anaphylactic shock just by taking a single small bit of something like this... Scary stuff, man!
They just go for alternatives in general, sure some are vegan because there isnt very many desirable milk from animals to compare to cow milk with the closest thing being goat milk probably. Everyone goes for coconut though for some reason, the sweet taste in it is weird for me. There are a lot of alternatives and better ways to obtain potassium and calcium then dairy products.
for anyone wondering, coeliac is an autoimmune disease where the body attacks itself when you eat gluten, it causes the villi in your small intestine to flatten out so you dont get much nutrition from eating food for a bit afterwards. speaking from experience as i myself have it it isnt pleasant and makes me feel quite tied and have stomach aches but some have severe vomiting, dihorrea, nausea, etc and anyone else with coeliac will know how annoying it is to have food and find out it had gluten in, and im sure im not the only one here that s mad about this. edit: if you have any other questions about it feel free to ask!
I feel like so many people think being coeliac is trying to get attention or something. It can be lethal yet people either laugh at gluten free products or eat them because they think they are healthier :/
How angering! Prolonged exposure can also cause certain people's villi to atrophy completely. A small percentage of celiac sufferers also don't heal/respond well to a gf diet meaning permanent damage has been done (eating gluten would further damage so rock and a hard place.) I wish our products were cheaper, man. I also read up on a case study where an elderly lady presented to the er with delerium and somehow they found out she had celiac and the malnutrition had caused the cognitive issues. Once on a gf diet, her delerium subsided. Crazy stuff. Definitely fact check me on these 👍
I knew a girl who had celiac’s. If she dared eat even a tiny bite of bread she would be on the toilet the rest of the day. From her I learned just how many things contain gluten, it’s crazy. Food was always a challenge.
As someone with Celiac disease this is my biggest nightmare, if I'm not careful and eat to much Gluten it could get to the point where id have to get a part of my digestive system removed and would have to start pooping in a bag through a hole in my stomach, I feel like to many people don't take Gluten intolerance serious enough it can do some real damage.
I have Celiac too, was diagnosed 15 years ago, and I can throw up 3 to 10 times if I ingest gluten (depending on how much I accidentally ate). It’s no joke. It’s a little sad when people write it off as “just a fad diet” or say “a little gluten won’t hurt you” because it won’t directly kill you like a peanut allergy. This story is pretty scary, but thankfully the owner was dumb enough to buy a Dunkin donut that was CLEARLY a Dunkin donut.
Unfortunately we've all come across the person who's on the gluten free fad who swears up and down they can't have any gluten, makes a big deal over it, yet gets seen drinking beer with gluten or gobbling down pastries with gluten with only a burp as a reaction so unless you know someone with Celiac, it's understandable for someone to presume others are faking or it's not a big deal. I have friends with diagnosed Celiacs so I've made it a point to learn some gluten free recipes because I've seen what happens when something was mislabeled.
I'm sorry to hear that. You can blame it solely on the weird people who hop to "Gluten free" as if it was the newest health fad (as opposed to serious concern), allowing the market to be exploited en-masse.
There was a case in Vietnam similar to this a few months ago. It even went on national news. A famous bakery in Hanoi was selling "gluten-free" and "sugar-free" cakes and other pastries especially advertised to pregnant women. Then people found out they just resold normal pastries and even falsifies testing documents. When they got exposed they just closed the shop and disappeared. As far as I know no one was seriously affected yet but the villains were allegedly closed up and opened with another name somewhere far away and stopped advertising for pregnant women to avoid attention.
As someone with celiac, yeah just cutting that donut alone proved it had gluten in it. Gluten free stuff is more crumbly since it doesn't have the gluten to act as a binding agent.
Most gluten-free stuff is, but not all. I've had bread and other pastry products from professionals, who specialized in baking gluten-free and there was basically no difference to 'regular' bread. If I get something gluten-free from a small store with the USP of being gluten-free, I wouldn't have any doubt in my mind it is, when the consistency is better than in factory products.
the problem is we have so many gluten free losers in this world who claim to have celiac, when i can serve them regular bread as gluten free and nothing happens 🤦
bruh there is a simple ttg blood test, (tissue transglutaminase igA antibody) if they are claiming to be celiac they would've had a test. @@imstupidbut
Celiac is pretty common in my family, it made my brother unable to walk properly and gave him severe abdominal pain for years until we found out what he was suffering from- it also causes an aunt and coworker of mine to become so sick that they go out of commission for a few days. Anyone who tries to sell mislabeled products can and should be charged with some sort of attempt to poison any injured parties.
I have a severe allergy to wheat and have been bait and switched by places mislabeling stuff or just not caring about allergies. Its not fun and ending up in the ER due to negligence is a nightmare.
Not even negligence this is actually malicious and could have killed people. My gf goes into anaphylaxis from dairy and eggs (but not at a level we can't eat out, it's when it gets above an amount from minor cross contamination that it becomes an issue).

As a coeliac, just wanted to throw in my opinion on non gluten frees 'buying up all the non gluten products' or whatever. Thank you, everyone who does this. All the trend jumpers made gluten free popular enough (in the states ) that it became super easy to find gluten free versions of pretty much any food I could ever want. Those who Karen complain about it have made it so I almost never need to explain it to restaurant staff, and there's a gluten free section in so many grocery stores now. Life is good on that front.

yesss i grew up in a gluten free household bc of family members with gluten allergies and seeing the boom of gluten free products especially in the 2010s was amazing 😂😂 going from a single brand of bread in the corner of the aisle to an entire section... all the variety nowadays ❤
Exactly. I’m not celiac, I just have gluten intolerance but yeah there is so much more gf food available these days. Even tho it’s still expensive af. People complain about “posers” and “fad dieters” but I fail to see the issue when the increased demand benefits everyone.
The whole move to natural dyes and dye free was great for my oldest. Even medicine had dye. Had to learn to make so many things from scratch. Now it's a different world when it comes to dye free options.
Once I was about to try a “vegan” chocolate bar. It literally said VEGAN right on it, but it also said “milk chocolate” which made me stop for a second (usually vegan milk chocolates use words like “mylk,” “milkless,” or “made with oats” for legal reasons I don’t think they can say “milk chocolate”). I checked the ingredients, and in the allergen section in bold “contains milk products.” In the ingredients list the dreaded “milk powder.” Moral of the story is always check the ingredients list and don’t trust anyone
Celiac sufferer here, Gluten hits us differently across the board. My GI doc told me most of his patients experience severe diarrhea, but for me my intestines completely lock up unless I either eat gluten-free completely or take Miralax daily. I've found a balance, but most like myself can end up in a lot of pain. Although my GI said its not necessarily gluten itself, but the byproduct of our bodies breaking down gluten into something else that hurts us. Specifically, the little villi/villus lining of our intestines get cut down which leads to malnutrition. I would recommend research though if anyone reading is curious I'm not a doctor just rehashing what was explained to me after 15 years of suffering as a child, and then another 10 years without proper guidance on the subject. Miserable, absolutely miserable.
its actually that gluten triggers an autoimmune response in us that basically causes our bodies to attack themselves, so its not so much that the gluten breaks down into something that hurts us and more that gluten causes our body to attack itself. its kind of like if a mosquito landed on your arm so you went to swat it but never managed to get it so you just kept slapping yourself, short term its not terrible but long term and you will sustain some real damage.
Yeah, I’ve got celiac disease too, and it’s sad to see stuff like this, and to see pizza places that say they have gluten free pizza when it’s really not.
My wife had to do an elimination diet because something in her milk gave the baby gas. When she cut gluten her iron levels shot through the roof and the doctor flagged her as a coliac.
I'm no expert but I did read up on celiac a while back. I think it had something to do with the gluten destroying microscopic "hairs" in the small intestine, some sort of autoimmune reaction. It can be a real problem if untreated.
Im a celiac, and eating gluten puts me out of commission for up to a month. One issue with labeling is things can be labeled “gluten free” but are not truly gluten free. For example digorno gluten free pizza is marked gluten free but it doesn’t have a low enough gluten content for celiacs. This makes shopping for food super hard as a celiac and we’re fighting to get labeling fixed here in the USA!

Long islander with celiac disease here. Patchogue (Patch-awg) Celiac disease is a lot different than just having a gluten intolerance. With celiac disease if I eat gluten I can get a list of different symptoms. An upset stomach and going to the bathroom is definitely one of them but certainly not the most severe. Some symptoms include sores and ulcers on the inside of the mouth, severe eczema attacks, gastrointestinal bacterial infections, and stomach cancer. I also don't think people realize how many things have gluten in it also. A lot of medicine has gluten in it as well as everyday household products like toothpaste. Also people without a gluten intolerance can sometimes feel sick and unwell if they try to have a gluten-free lifestyle.
yeah it really annoyed me when he said the thing about going to the bathroom. it made me feel like he was equivocating it with lactose intolerance when its not the same. especially when he said people dont really die from it. because the immune response people with celiacs have to gluten stops them from absorbing nutrients, someone who was regularly consuming gluten against their knowledge on a regular basis, like for example being a regular customer of a "gluten free" bakery that put gluten in its food, would die of starvation or dehydration in about a week if they didnt identify what was happening and begin treatment, but even then their gut and immune system would be permanently damaged. not like someone with lactose intolerance who might get diarrhea but then once its out of their system they get better. now, most people with celiacs understand the symptoms and would seek treatment, but they could also misdiagnose themselves and their symptoms especially if they think theyre being really, really careful about what they eat, so they dont think its possible it could be gluten.
I’m a cook and at my work we have “gluten friendly” options. The only actual thing we have that’s “gluten free” is one type of pasta. The chicken and other meats that gluten intolerant people order are prepared on the same grills and surfaces. I do what I can by cleaning the grill and my area when I get an allergy/gluten order but I know there’s other cooks that don’t care and won’t change gloves, wipe things down or clean the grills. Years ago, I worked for the only 100% certified Gluten Free Cafe in San Diego. They were the first to be certified. They were proud to claim true gluten-free rather than "gluten friendly." In short, if your kitchen shares surfaces with anything that has gluten in it (including employee lunches), they can not claim gluten-free. They have to say gluten friendly. If a restaurant has gluten-free options but still has glutinous items on the menu, it's not 100% gluten-free. The health dept. Is pretty strict about here in Cali.
@@Tommy9834My understanding is that this level of stringency is necessary. Fractions of a gram of gluten can aggravate coeliac disorder, possibly as low as 50mg daily (fact check me, please).
@@Tommy9834 why go into any sort of food business, if there's the potential you might poison your customers? Everyone who handles food has to understand regulations and laws behind it, people yearly die from ecoli or salmonella poisoning, restaurants have to include disclaimers regarding the danger of consuming undercooked beef. Gluten-free is the same - if you're going to handle and produce gluten-free products, understand the laws and basics of food handling and cross contamination. Keep areas free of flour or wheat, have strict stations reserved for those materials and vice versa. It's no different from raw meat and veggies - even if you plan on cooking all of these items, they still have to be prepared separately until they reach the pan/pot. The only time these regulations are violated and people die, is when someone dismisses the severity of the consequences - usually time constraints or budget/profits. Not everyone who claims gluten-intolerance is going to have a severe reaction, some it's mild discomfort - but others have been hospitalized they have such no tolerance to wheat germ. The same can be said of anyone who eats undercooked beef, there are traces of bacteria or viral components, but to most healthy individuals it won't harm them; however, in someone who is older or has health compromised issues, the traces of pathogens can put them in the hospital. Younger kids are especially in danger of pathogen contaminated food, which is why a table condiment like honey has a warning label reminding parents not to offer infants honey - botulism is deadly to small children, but adults do not typically suffer illness. Sorry for the long rant, but we literally had this woman selling pink Pepto dismal in florida heat, and we're still having arguments about if food handling is still something that we need to take fucking seriously in 2024. If you're going to start a businesses and promise a product, you're serving the customer, and if your customer gets sick from your product, they will come back at you.
@@Tommy9834 the celiac and gluten intolerant community is growing, and would absolutely pay to be able to eat in a restaurant without the worry of being incredibly sick directly afterwards
I heard about this on Instagram and there were an astonishing amount of people who were writing off the issue as just "sensitive vegans" who are angry over nothing. Even with people explaining that it was genuinely a health hazard for people with gluten intolerance or gluten allergies, there were still people acting as if this was a non-issue
i’ve actually been impressed by the number of “normie” creators covering this and expressing concern about how this is dangerous and shitty. my personal experience irl has been much more doubt/mockery from the general public.
i used to work at a restaurant. when we got a gluten-free order, we had to change our gloves, switch to a completely separate set of knives and cutting boards, switch the bread to individually wrapped pitas, and do a million other things to make sure it couldn't even TOUCH gluten. you can imagine how this trend of "gluten-free living" would be a bit annoying, since we have to treat all gluten-free requests the same
I have non-celiac gluten intolerance and (as far as I know) I’m not really affected by cross contamination - I only get symptoms if I eat a lot of bread or whatever. So when I order gluten-free dishes I make a point of telling them that they don’t need to do all that extra cleanup.
As someone with very bad Coeliac, this kind of stunt can kill people. Untreated Coeliac leads to many serious illnesses like malnutrition and it's related problems, gut damage, inflammatory problems such as asthma, allergies going haywire etc. along with unbearable cramping and lethargy. Before diagnosis I had pneumonias every 3 months and almost died many times from complications. I couldn't run or play outside because I had no energy and was almost half the normal weight for my age.
The fact that even if one time doesn't maybe cause big effects, it can in a long run cause a stomach wound etc. I am only allergic to gluten, but I still suffer 3 hour pains on the floor and then my stomach just gives up on me completely. And for Coeliacs it can be/is definitely a lot worse.
the thing about food needing to be properly disclosed as containing or not containing common allergens (such as gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, etc) is SO fucking important. I had my incident at dunkin when asking if a specific food I wanted included tree nuts at all and was told no, that was wrong. I obviously didn't die but I had a mild allergic reaction (thankfully noticed something was wrong before swallowing it). these companies should face serious consequences for fucking up such an important part of food safety.
Not trying to attack you but couldn't you just Google to see if Dunkin uses tree nuts instead of asking the kid at the register who probably doesn't know what a tree nut is to see if it has or has been in contact with tree nuts?
The problem with being coeliac is that ingesting gluten damages your ability to absorb nutrition. The danger of coeliac disease comes from the complications caused by reduced nutritional intake. The biggest problem I've ever had with coeliac is the money. The price of good gluten-free food is ridiculous, of course it is, they know people will buy it. Whether it's some fad or someone genuinely needs it because the alternative is nutritional deficiency, it sells.
I don’t suffer with Coeliacs but I’m still suffering the after effects of malnutrition and nutrition deficiency after I was hospitalised two years ago with low potassium. It’s no joke.
I feel this. I've gotten used to it since I've had to buy gluten free food for a long time, but sometimes seeing the price of a box of cookies still shocks me. theres no way we should be paying nearly $10 for a box of cookies thats only gonna have like 5 cookies in it (because i've noticed gluten free products always have less in the package). we should not have to shop like ultra rich people to survive.
The actual mechanism of gluten intolerance is that for gluten intolerant people, their immune systems recognise the gluten protein as foreign once its absorbed into your small intestine and then floods the villi with immune cells which causes inflammation, this severally tanks your villi's ability to absorb nutrients as you said. However there is a longer lasting problem where you're at a high risk of intestinal cancer due to the damage you get from that inflammation response if you consistently consume gluten.
It's not even necessarily a problem with that, some people just develop an intolerance to gluten as they get older. My mother has a mild intolerance now, possibly in part because they've had to reduce gluten intake to help my father get over his diabetes (he is fine now and quite healthy). My workout buddy has stopped taking whey protein because it started to make his throat burn. I think we're beyond "gluten free as a fad" at this point. Gluten is so ubiquitous that avoiding it is far more hassle than it is worth if you have no outstanding conditions.
my brother is very allergic to eggs and we often go to vegan bakeries as an alternative and to hear something like this happening it terrifies me. even a small amount of egg can send him into anaphylaxis.
I have gluten allergies that straight up close my throat and I can't breathe at all, this whole drama is like my worst nightmare. So concerning and scary that they would do something like this without taking into consideration that it could kill anybody.
I have a friend who literally breaks out in hives when touching gluten, let alone eating it. Mislabeled products can be extremely dangerous for allergies, and in some cases, it's a federal crime and is punishable by imprisonment. What the hell were they thinking? 🤦
My friend and I went for steak. She ordered a salad with “no croutons”. She mentioned how good the salad tasted. Yep, they picked off the crotons after they noticed the tag said “no crotons”. She spent the rest of the afternoon on the shitter. Gluten allergy is no joke
Gluten usually destroys the intestines of people who can’t have it. As my friend put when we were kids, “gluten makes my guts pop”. It’s not a casual intolerance where it just makes you mildly itchy, it can damage their organs for months. It’s painful and it makes eating anything else afterwards a real struggle, so even if it’s not deadly it isn’t a casual thing and is really awful to experience
So just tickle my curiosity for a bit, why not just go full on meat at that point? eat some veggies if you so choose to, but no way in hell you're getting sick or will be tricked.

I love how they focused a lot on apologizing to the “Vegan Community” and not to the people with freaking Celiac Disease who could’ve literally possibly died from false advertising.
Exactly !!! I have Celiac Disease and this completely reminds me of the time my family got a pumpkin pie believing that it was gluten free bc it was advertised as such, and once I ate it I woke up a few hours later in the middle of sleeping to throw it all up. It was horrible. Gluten is such a huge issue for those with Celiac Disease. I have always gotten so incredibly sick each time I've accidentally had the slightest amount of gluten. It's crazy.
Both my mom and sister are celiac. A week ago my mom accidentally ate a small portion of regular gluten pasta, and within a couple hours she was vomiting and needing the bathroom so much I was immediately worried about dehydration. She had horrible pain in her abdomen and was only able to leave her bed to hobble to her bathroom (which was thankfully less than ten feet away). She was like that for five days, and she's still exhausted from it now. If I found out someone was knowingly passing off something with gluten as gluten-free, I would be screaming it from the rooftops and suing their ass to hell and back. I've been following this specific story since it started and I hope that 'baker' gets shut down for good. They really COULD have killed someone.
As someone who used to work at a local donut shop, people did in fact buy our vegan/gluten free donuts and resell them for a higher price at their respective places of business
Yeah it's pretty normal actually for specialty shops to do that stuff. I worked at a bakery 20 yrs ago and one of "our" cheese cakes was Saralee. We had to tell customers we made it 🙄 they made all the other ones but not that one. Don't know if it was a pain to make or what. You can buy them still at the stores. My brother works at a specialty meat shop... Same thing. A small variety of the meat is from somewhere else. Just a few things.
I love how they just randomly switch back and forth between "vegan" and "gluten free." Which one is it? Because those two things have exactly nothing to do with each other.
Some items are both vegan and glutenfree, a head of broccoli is both for example. Pretty sure my bread substitute is vegan cuz it does not contain animal products.
I hope legal action is taken by Cindysnacks, this is absolutely disgusting behavior from 'a baker of 15+ years'. As someone who could die from ingesting gluten, this is a horrific story for sure
I've got Celiac disease. It took 3.5 years to diagnose. And I fall into a tiny percentile of people with celiac disease that breaks out in a gnarly skin rash when I eat gluten. It's called dermatitis herpetiformis. It appears like itchy hives but if you scratch those hives a watery, transparent liquid comes out. And then when they scab over they look really gross with greenish/Orange scabs and they can be painful. What's really crazy about a gluten spike is that it can barely bother you or it can be almost crippling. When the gluten hits your intestines it feels like you've got rocks and razor blades moving through there and it can hurt so bad that your legs almost stop working. I'm 100% serious and I can handle pain better than your average person. I've never thought the world should "cater to my needs." I just don't eat or drink anything with gluten in it. From the moment I was diagnosed I studied it. And I stay away from the " gluten free" alternatives most the time because they're so high in sugars and starches it's obscene. Gluten free stores are funny because they basically just have a thousand desserts. They act like there's food there. It's mostly just gluten free cake and cookies. When they didn't know I had celiac disease they thought I had started to have "panic attacks." So I was heavily medicated to stop that and put on antidepressants . Turns out those were caused by gluten. Gluten is basically poison to somebody with celiac disease. It attacks the body and brain. It's an autoimmune disorder. When it messes with your brain it's called ataxia. One of the ways I know I've been gluten spiked is that about a day later it feels like I'm shaking, internally. Not moving at all but feels like I'm vibrating. Also get brutal insomnia from it. You basically stay awake until your body shuts down from lack of sleep, 24 hours+. I've read about people that have full blown seizures from it. So what that lady did is really cruel and for some people, actually very dangerous. One thing that I can say, is that I definitely can tell a gluten free product from one with gluten. Usually one bite and I'd know. Gluten free = dry, falls apart and a lack of density in comparison to anything delicious.
Another point to mention is that the owner of the Bakery claimed the sprinkes were bought from Amazon and thus the doughnuts weren't from Dunkin, however the vegan market bought said sprinkles and posted a photo to clearly show the sprinkles from Amazon and the sprinkles on the Doughnut are different ( 4:44 )
I knew someone who had a very severe case of celiac’s disease. This stuff is very serious. We’re talking about excessive puking, crapping, and potentially a stomach pump. They should really be ashamed of themselves.
"morals aside" i think endangering people is, maybe, slightly, possibly, immoral. not sure though, someone else needs to confirm it. this is sarcasm if you can't tell, that is probably the most immoral part of the entire thing
@@DarkShard5728 Can confirm endangering people is also "slightly" immoral. But what i meant with morals was more in the vein of tricking people into eating something they otherwise wouldn't and not respecting their life choices. I think that the bakery wasn't thinking past this point. Since the first thing many idiots would think about this is "wouldn't it be funny to trick vegans into eating dairy products?". Same with some anti vegan people who could read this. They might think it's a funny story and don't think about the other even more serious aspect of people getting harmed.
@@Shibanu_ endangering people is possibly the most immoral part of it. like, there could have easily been a case of 3rd degree manslaughter if someone who really couldn't have eggs, milk, or gluten ingested it. why would you put morals aside for the most immoral part of it? sure, false advertising can be malicious and immoral but endangering people is moreso
@@DarkShard5728 I explained it. Most people when they read this will first think about the morals of tricking people and might find it humerous or not. I am on your side and agree that endangering people is the bigger problem. That's why i stated that it's a genuine health risk. You're intentionally misreading my comments.
As someone with celiac disease, this would possibly put me in a hospital. Also this reminds me of the woman who needed allergy free food at a disney springs restaurant, was lied to that it was allergen free (dairy and nut i believe it was), and then after having it she went into anaphylaxis and died.
it is much more believable that the donut was being resold as a vegan donut and not a gluten free donut. you can very much taste the difference between a gluten free donut and a regular donut. the texture, the taste, the mouthfeel.

I know a lot of people make jokes about "Gluten free" and a lot of people make it look silly when they have no reason to avoid it, but Gluten can literally kill people with a real intolerance, completely unacceptable.
Yeah I have a family member with severe celiac disease, it’s horrible. Even the smallest trace of gluten (like even a few crumbs) makes him incredibly sick
@@SquirrelexAnd that is their choice. Who gives a fuck. This stupid attitude towards getting pissed off over people who avoid one food product or another is fucking stupid and ridiculous.
i have a family member with really bad celiac disease, and yes, it is horrible. the jokes are funny but i think people need to realize how terrible the disease actually is.
15 year celiac here. In some settings it is actually messed up to take from the gluten-free pile, like in my college cafeteria when people didn’t like one of the dozens of other options and took from the finite baked supply. And as for labeling, explicit mentioning of gluten is (less so with time) uncommon. Wheat must be highlighted but the useless malt/barley in Rice Krispies for example can be sneaky.
Note on Celiac disease. Many people can die from it. Some may need to be hospitalized immediately upon gluten exposure others may slowly starve to death due to the Celia in their intestines kicking the bucket. A gluten free baker I know has the former. I have the latter. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder which makes the body attack the Celia in the intestines. Celia are responsible for absorbing nutrients. Before I had to go on the diet I was slowly starving to death. I was severely underweight and somehow was still alive. It didn't matter how much I ate since the food was never properly absorbed. It has taken me years to heal from this. In fact I have trouble with portion sizes and will eat until I gag to make sure I am getting enough nutrients. I used to weigh myself constantly because I was paranoid about losing a lot of weight.
I used to scoff at people being scared of gluten but now after extensive health screens and tests, it turns out I am gluten intolerant. My GI system was completely messed up and causing a whole lot of different problems but every test came back negative, no hernia no ulcers no seeming cause for any of it. Then my doctor had me do a full food purge and do a pure elemental liquid diet for two hellish weeks and then slowly introduce different allergens. Dairy was completely fine, but as soon as I ate gluten bam my symptoms came right back. I started eating gluten free breads and grains and all of a sudden I feel so much better, even my mental health is improving from not being in chronic pain from constantly having an allergic reaction. It’s also why cutting out fatty food didn’t do anything to stop the constant acid reflux burning holes in my throat, because pounding whole wheat breads for the health benefits is probably what was causing most of my problems to begin with. The reason I point that out is because almost every doctor just assumed my diet was trash even after I insisted I was only eating veggies, whole wheat grains, and minimal red meat. Not everyone needs to be gluten free, but man it can make a huge difference for those who need it even if you don’t have the more serious celiac disease. It’s pretty obvious logic, if you’re allergic to something then don’t eat it. It just sucks because now I realize that there’s wheat in basically every single main course meal at most restaurants and it’s super limiting actually, and I appreciate all the places that offer gluten free options
Same here! I was really lucky that I had a good doctor that quickly gave me allergen tests and figured out why I was constantly sick and in pain, just to find out it was all the wheat stuff I'd been eating! (And soy, peanuts, corn, etc.) I developed several food allergies very suddenly, and while I know people with allergies had to be careful with this stuff, I'm now very aware what these people go through. It sucks!! I'm glad places do offer gluten-free options, but it's terrifying to try new places. I wish it was more normalized to not only handle food appropriately, but also to be able to ask questions about how it's handled without the staff rolling their eyes or just thinking you're on a gluten-free diet just because. On one hand, I think people on gluten-free diets are making foods more accessible for people with celiac and allergies, but on the other, I think they're creating a new stigma to where people with real problems are still getting treated improperly. I used to always assume that places with gluten/allergy-free options were careful with it by default, but now I know that isn't the case at all. I'm lucky I haven't had a severe reaction yet, because I've definitely been mislead and lied to! For people who do have severe reactions, that's completely unfair to have that happen to them!

This reminds me of a story I heard on the radio where some company in Southern Asia was putting lead into cinnamon and it was getting sold to manufacturers in the US, and eventually getting into kids' food
gluten intolerance is also a thing, which i unfortunately have. Makes me uncomfortably bloated and the aftermath is far from pleasant, just all round something i’d rather avoid so when possible i do gluten-free replacements. Sure it’s not a life or death scenario for me but still unpleasant nonetheless.
I haven't read recent parenting articles, but there used to be a subset of people who thought a gluten-free, casein-free diet would cure their kids' autism. There may be some who still do that.
I have had celiac since birth and I don't have an allergic reaction that you would treat with an epi pan simply put my body can't process it and it builds up badly, my skin will die my hair gets thin, I feel sick and have no energy, and the smallest bit of gluten for me sets me back 3 months worth of progress on my diet while I can eat things with gluten and can be ok my allergy has gotten so much more severe over the years and the pain that I have gotten from it has hospitalized me multiple times. When I was younger there wasn't much gluten free food but thanks to it becoming a kinda fad it's everywhere and the food has gotten way better sadly a lot of people over use the gluten free thing and it leads to people not taking my allergy seriously than I have to pay the price and trust me most people don't understand just how everywhere gluten can sometimes be, toothpaste ,shampoo, many spices and sauces. It does suck seeing once again one of the many examples of people not caring at all.

Miserable, absolutely miserable.
you and i actually have similar symptoms. I'm very new to celiac though so this is great information!
its actually that gluten triggers an autoimmune response in us that basically causes our bodies to attack themselves, so its not so much that the gluten breaks down into something that hurts us and more that gluten causes our body to attack itself. its kind of like if a mosquito landed on your arm so you went to swat it but never managed to get it so you just kept slapping yourself, short term its not terrible but long term and you will sustain some real damage.

Just make your food at home then.

Long islander with celiac disease here. Patchogue (Patch-awg)
Celiac disease is a lot different than just having a gluten intolerance.
Also people without a gluten intolerance can sometimes feel sick and unwell if they try to have a gluten-free lifestyle.
as another long islander, I lost it when he pronounced it as pachgouwg
yeah it really annoyed me when he said the thing about going to the bathroom. it made me feel like he was equivocating it with lactose intolerance when its not the same. especially when he said people dont really die from it. because the immune response people with celiacs have to gluten stops them from absorbing nutrients, someone who was regularly consuming gluten against their knowledge on a regular basis, like for example being a regular customer of a "gluten free" bakery that put gluten in its food, would die of starvation or dehydration in about a week if they didnt identify what was happening and begin treatment, but even then their gut and immune system would be permanently damaged. not like someone with lactose intolerance who might get diarrhea but then once its out of their system they get better.
now, most people with celiacs understand the symptoms and would seek treatment, but they could also misdiagnose themselves and their symptoms especially if they think theyre being really, really careful about what they eat, so they dont think its possible it could be gluten.
Makes me wonder how many people have gotten sick from eating there when I don’t work
I'm stuck on the toilet right now cuz of that 😂😂
I appreciate that you take time and care for people as someone with celiacs it’s genuinely great to know that care was placed into things.
@@powerfullpummel6417 people with allergies and intolerances deserve to go out to eat and enjoy themselves. I just want to make sure no one gets sick from what I cook.
Gluten friendly doesn't sound like it's a less strict version of gluten free. It sounds like they're pro gluten lol
God damn. If you have to go through all that, is it even worth opening gluten free restaurant?
Thats instagram for you
Instagram comment sections are the worst. There’s always someone unreasonably angry or making something completely innocent political.
Gluten intolerance or allergies to milk or egg. This is an easy way to get a lot of people really sick for multiple reasons.
i’ve actually been impressed by the number of “normie” creators covering this and expressing concern about how this is dangerous and shitty. my personal experience irl has been much more doubt/mockery from the general public.
A lot of people unfortunately just hate vegans so I’m not surprised.
i used to work at a restaurant. when we got a gluten-free order, we had to change our gloves, switch to a completely separate set of knives and cutting boards, switch the bread to individually wrapped pitas, and do a million other things to make sure it couldn't even TOUCH gluten. you can imagine how this trend of "gluten-free living" would be a bit annoying, since we have to treat all gluten-free requests the same
I have non-celiac gluten intolerance and (as far as I know) I’m not really affected by cross contamination - I only get symptoms if I eat a lot of bread or whatever.
People don't understand how serious coeliac is :/ it can kill people
same here man, undiagnosed coeliac at 2 year old left me with 3 years of stunted growth and had me looking like a stickman by 5
MY VIDEOS HAVE MORE EFFORT THAN PENGUINZ0.
Celiachia didn't ever kill anyone
Well technically they may have been right, there were no tree nuts if it was peanuts and you specificslly asked if there were tree nuts

@@ramrod924Are you really blaming the victim for not googling when dunkin should know what's in their donuts?
I've gotten used to it since I've had to buy gluten free food for a long time, but sometimes seeing the price of a box of cookies still shocks me. theres no way we should be paying nearly $10 for a box of cookies thats only gonna have like 5 cookies in it (because i've noticed gluten free products always have less in the package). we should not have to shop like ultra rich people to survive.
too much gluten can have your immune system turn on you, and permanently ruin your small intestine... which can kill you :)

That “gluten” shivered my timbers
I knew someone who had a very severe case of celiac’s disease. This stuff is very serious. We’re talking about excessive puking, crapping, and potentially a stomach pump. They should really be ashamed of themselves.
Morals aside, this is also a genuine health risk and could lead to people getting seriously harmed.
Right, but we also should never put morals aside

Facts, anyone from long island or even the usa could tell by the taste of the donut that its dunkin💀imagine

Living with a celiac mother, I never understood gluten-free diets for non-celiacs. I don't think it has a noticeable health benefit.
You are right.
gluten intolerance is also a thing, which i unfortunately have.
There may be some who still do that.
some people just can't digest it and it makes them sick but they don't have celiac when tested for it
@@nobigwhoopdawgThere are also people who think drinking bleach cures autism.
Fell out of my chair the exact picosecond he said "Gluten". God damnit Charlie.

Says covid in passing .... OMG TAG THIS VIDEO .. OR PEOPLE WILL DIE.
My friend is seriously allergic to gluten, I remember him mentioning that it makes him shit blood and seriously messes up his stomach. This is actually really fucked, they should be criminally charged
Upon reading the title I immediately thought this would be some kind of drama between Gordon Ramsay and the Vegan teacher again
Which would also be amazingly entertaining.
@@TheElbowMerchantUnfortunately it was food poisoning.
